I used AT&T's prepaid service called GoPhone for a few months last year. I left a balance of $50 or so on the account because I thought I might need the phone in the future, which I do now. Now when I need the phone, I find that without any written notice they have closed my account, kept the money and given the number to another party, even though I have given it to couple of financial institutions. Not only these people are total rip-off, but they are also rude. First they show up to fix a burst pipe, do nothing, charge $100 for "visit fee", and leave some paper with $850 worth of other things to do before they would deign to replace a $5 PVC pipe. Then their customer service person is unbelievably rude to us on the phone. I mean "Seinfeld" rude, the "Soup Nazi" episode. I have had an awful experience here. Everyone is so nice (especially Logan) until they get your money. And there is totally fine print. It is definitely not $10 month-to-month, unless you include the start-up fee AND the $50-$100 (depending on the length of your contract) fee they charge two months in!
