Scam
Up until now, this has been a legitimate, user-friendly site. Try to believe this: I was unable to update my credit card and new email address on their site. I had to contact customer service -- and then spent the next HOUR on the phone with a Central American rep who could barely understand English, made me spell each word several times, a letter at a time, and we had to repeat this several times. It was incredibly frustrating. I'm dumping this service after 8 years. Ever heard of "web forms?"

Charged credit card but no delivery.
I placed an order with 1800Flowers on 2/5/09 with a delivery date of 2/12/09, 1 full week in advance. After speaking with the person whom I scheduled to send flowers to for Valentine's Day, I am informed they NEVER arrived. So much for the surprise huh?

I called 1800Flowers customer service line twice. 1st time, the rep asked to call me back and did so within 30 minutes, stating he had spoke to the florist they routed my order to and the flowers were on their delivery truck and would arrive in 60 minutes or less.

3 Hours later, still NO FLOWER DELIVERY ... I call customer service for the 2nd time, I am placed on hold for 10 minutes, when I do get a rep on the line, I am given nothing but excuses. I am furious by now, ask to speak to a supervisor. I am placed on hold for 30 minutes, no one ever picked up.

I would strongly suggest to anyone who wants to have flowers sent delivery online DO NOT USE 1800FLOWERS.

I will be calling my bank to dispute the charges they made to my credit card and have spoke to my attorney who tells me I can file suit for fraud since they charged my credit card account and did not follow through under the terms of their service!!!

Paying too much for Flowers
If you have ever paid for flowers through 1800flowers or any other online vendor that does not have an actual store, you are paying close to $15.00 over the cost of the flowers just for their fee. The worst part is, you rarely even get what you see in the picture, and they don't tell you that.

As a florist, I try to educate our customers all the time on how these online services work. The strange thing is that even though customers are "online" to place the order, they rarely look online for a local florist to fill the order personally, and these online companies like 1800flowers, FTD, Teleflora, WesleyBerry, Flowersallhours, ALL OF THEM, send the orders to the local florist anyway.

It is then up to the local florist to fill the order, and most always, if they don't have the same vase or flowers, they send something "similar", which based on costs of the flowers could be a lower value.

Now let's look at costs. Say you have a $40.00 arrangement you want to send someone. Add to that the $15 the online company charges you for delivery and handling, and you are paying out $55.00. The local florist will get $31.20 of the money you paid, as they also take 22% off the retail price as a commission. So, in effect, you are spending $55.00 but only getting an arrangement that is $31.20.

By using a local florist, you are insuring they get paid fairly for the work they do, saving yourself a minimum of $15.00 (more during holidays!) and taking out the middleman who has nothing whatsoever to do with the creation or delivery of your arrangement, other than forwarding it on to someone. Now, after all this, isn't it just more simple to go to the source?

Doesn't deliver, then lies
12/21/08 - Ordered Christmas arrangement from 1-800 Flowers to be delivered in Dallas, TX before Christmas.

12/26/2008 - We verify the arrangement was not received by the recipient.

12/27/08 - Called customer service: they provide fake emailed confirmation stating the arrangement was delivered on 12/22/08. We call back and dispute it. They first restate the lie... then keep talking... then they claim the arrangement was delivered at 11:00am on 12/27/08 and signed for... although they can not confirm or make out the signature name. They offer a 20% discount, my wife asks for 50% since it was so late, they agree to do it.

12/27/2008 - 1:00pm - We confirm there was no delivery as they claimed. Call customer service again: they now admit there was no delivery. My wife asks for a full refund since the Christmas arrangement is now a joke. They say ok... but it will take 6-7 business days to process the refund. (on a credit card purchase) We're very concerned the refund will not be issued. We'll monitor and contact our credit card company to dispute the charge if necessary.

We understand things happen in life and sometimes a delivery is late. But a company that misrepresents, lies and then holds your money after the acknowledged deception should be considered fraudulent.

stale flowers and deflated balloon received
I ordered a flower arrangement for my wife for my anniversary from online. On the day of the anniversary around 10:00 AM I tried to check the status of the order and it did not pull up the order so I called the customer service. The guy said he was not able to pull the order even after searching by order number, name, email, phone, and CC number so he asked me to call back in half hour just to make sure. I called again at around noon and same thing so I asked to cancel the order and I bought the flowers from some other place. In the evening around 5:00 PM a guy showed up at our door with the stale flowers and deflated balloon and my CC was charged. So next day morning I called in to complain they said ok we will cancel the order and someone will pick up the flowers from the recipient. So at the end not only I had to go through all this ugliness but I looked like a dumb!@#$ to the recipient when the guy shows up at the door to pickup the flowers. Luckily, I had sent the flowers to just my wife and she understands. I cannot even imagine sending anything to anybody from this place ever again. I do not know why they want the flowers back; my guess is they want to send to the next customer…

sign me up for another membership
This summper I placed an order from 1800flowers.com for my grandfather that was under the weather. He did get the package I sent him. What I got in return was a membership to Liv Well. I didn't order a membership and will never use it so I asked for a refund on the charges. The agent cancelled my membership but would not refund the charges. I asked for his supervisor and after he put me on hold he came back on and informed me that his supervisor has approved a refund.

Authorized more than one payment for the order!
I ordered flowers for my mother for mother's Day, I was told my credit card was declined which I knew it shouldn't, I later found out one payment was authorized and the other declined, but was told they couldn't send the flowers, after talking to my credit card company, i found that one payment was authorized, after having conference call. the next day Friday I received a call from 1800flowers.com it was stated they would send mom her flowers with the payment that was already authorized, mom did get her flowers, but another payment was authorized for the flowers.

I had to call my credit card company so many times to get this straight, after putting the money back in my credit card over $8.00 was charged to me, every time I had to talk to a live person they were charging me, when suggested they owe me they refused even thou most of the calls was conference calls with them on the line. Mother's Day should have been a happy day for me even thou my mother lives 3, 000 miles away, I was too stressed to be happy.

Don't rely on them
I ordered a bonsai tree for my brother's birthday on 1800flowers.com. He didn't get it on his birthday, a week went by and he still didn't get it.

I called the company and they said it was still in the delivery warehouse and hadn't even been sent yet! The customer service rep was nice but had no explanation as to why it wasn't sent.

They offered me a $10 gift certificate...gee, thanks...that doesn't even cover their shipping cost! Do not use 1800flowers, you can't rely on them to get your product delivered in time!! What else would you use a special occasion service for? They suck.
