Uncancellable, nonrefundable reservation
I made an online reservation last night through 1Click Pet Hotels, thinking I would be unable to find care for my pet while traveling - then learned this morning that I would not need to bring my pet after all.
I called 1Click Pet Hotels to cancel. Incredibly, I was told that there is a "100 percent cancellation fee." I was shocked and asked the representative to repeat that. He said, "The reservation is uncancellable and non-refundable."
!!!
Next time, I will call hotels directly to inquire if they accept pets, rather than be scammed by an online hotel directory and reservation service. I recommend you do the same.

false advertising
The website states: "All hotels on this site are dog friendly hotels and most of them also allow, accept or take cats and other pets as well, unless otherwise specified." I made a reservation for the two nights I'd be in my hometown attending my mother's memorial service and spending time with family, wanting the peace of mind of knowing that my dog could be with us rather than in a kennel. After I received the email confirmation, in fine print I saw this: "DISCLAIMER: It is the responsibility of the hotel chain to maintain the pet policy information in our system. Occasionally they make changes and don't update all systems. 1Click Pet Hotels holds no responsibility for these errors. When you receive your email confirmation there will be the hotel phone number on it. Just to make sure the hotel policies haven't changed we recommend you verify with the hotel." When I called the hotel where I'd already used my credit card to make a reservation, I found they'd recently changed their policy. The 1Click Pet Hotels email also had, in fine print, the cancellation policy: "Changes to or cancellation of this reservation prior to Friday, September 25, 2009 of arrival date will be charged a 25.00 USD fee and an additional 2 night(s) room rate plus tax will also be charged." After an irate phone call, the best I could get was a smoking room, something my husband, dog and I all hate. I see no reason to make a reservation through this site; at most, use it to get a list of hotels that might be pet friendly, then call and reserve yourself. This site is at best useless, at worst a scam.
