Stay away
Back in March 2010, my husband and I contacted the First American Law Firm regarding a loan modification on our mortgage. We were told that we had an excellent case for a modification. We then gave them $4500 to help with both our first and second mortgages. Over the next couple of months we were in contact with them regarding information that we had submitted. About a month later I tried contacting them to get an update on our case. We were told by the case manager, James Brown, that we would get updates often about our case. I left several messages with various people at the firm. I then remembered that I had an email address for a woman named Tara. I left her an email. This was in June. She sent me an email on June 22nd apologizing for the delay and that she requested to be assigned to our case since we had a good working relationship. We felt relieved that we heard from someone and we felt very positive at this point. About three weeks later I tried contacting Tara again to see if she had any new about our situation. I got an out of office reply that she didn't work with the company anymore and any correspondence was to be submitted to the general company email. I then tried calling her voice mail and left a message. This was in early August. I also tried calling James Brown and his extension is no longer valid. All of the general voice mail extensions are either full and not excepting any more messages or there is an error on them. My husband and I then investigated further and found out about the FBI investigation on the firm. We are now trying to get more information about the company and pursuing a refund.
