Legal Robbery
Let me start with, I have been a 2-10 Warranty customer for 20 years. Submitted a service ticket for my leaking water heater. They sent out US Heat & Air Co. who in turn told me it needed to be replaced. There would be non- covered charges that I would have to pay up and over the $50 deductable of $90 for a permit, $125 for a pressure valve on my water main and $75 disposal fee. Obviously, USH&A is in business to rip people off!! Who's gonna pay a disposal fee when we already pay for trash pickup? Put it to the curb= no charge! I found out it's a homeowners right to get the permit and it's only $28. The pressure valve is all of $10 at Lowes or Home Depot furthermore, it's not required per Florida code as they stated it was (liars). After speaking to someone at USH&A in Tampa because the Orlando phones were not working, I was told "if we don't get the permit, we won't do the work". I asked her to justify the $62 difference, of course she couldn't. The woman told me someone from the Orlando office would call me back today, my phone never rang. So, I called 2-10 back and was told if that's what the company is charging as non-covered fees I had to pay it and if I wanted another company to come out I had to pay another $50. Let me add this tidbit, this will be my 4th water heater replaced over the 20 yrs. My brother lives next door in the same model house and has replaced his water heater ONCE!! Went to a store, had it installed, DONE! I cannot believe with the way the economy is today that companies will openly display their greediness, lack of concern for the customer and to top it off have a snooty representative that insisted on over-talking me instead of listening and letting me complete an sentence. Needless to say, USH&A will NOT be getting a dime out of me AND 2-10 Warranty just lost my business. Also, I just renewed my 2-10 contract last month (July) and it increased over $100. Will be out shopping over the weekend for a water heater and preparing my battle gear for more aggravation starting Monday morning to get my money refunded for the remaining 11 months from 2-10... Who needs to pay for headaches like this????? I certainly don't and won't!!!
