i am making monthly payments on a 2000 ford ranger, one day i smelled gas, turns out it is leaking from a 50 cent piece of plastic.im 58 years old and im on disability, im told 500.00 will fix it.fuel lines were always metal, usualy brass or stainless, but to cut cost ford used plastic, but they still raise the price of their product by thousands of dollars each year.they had to pay off the ntsb, who are supposed to look out for the consumer.so is this a scam??go to napa, or advanced auto or any auto parts store and buy this sending unit, cant be done, you can only purchase it from ford at a hefty price of 197.00 just for the sending unit.and is it a real problem, i called junk yards in 4 states, md, del, virginia, and pennsylvania.no one has these parts.so why dont the government do something.i can not afford to fix my problem, and i have to drive this vehicle.when it explodes and i lose my life and god forbid any innocent people in traffic near me, then maybe ford will take a look.but ford dont care if hundreds of people die as long as they can still sell cars.
