I am looking at purchasing a new vehicle and currently have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 S71 4X4. It has 97, 000 miles which is low mileage compared to some of the other vehicles I have owned, 1988 Blazer 250K, 1998 Dodge Intrepid (company car) 200K, 1995 Chevy Suburban 180K, but unlike those other vehicles, this GMC is falling apart. Right now it has the following issues:
1. neither electric window works,
2. the dash board has had a short in it since I purchased it 4 years ago and if flashes on and off,
3. the check engine light is on and the code given is faulty gas cap which I have changed and the light remains on,
4. the thermostat has been replaced,
5. the starter needs to be replaced,
6. the driver side door lock is malfunctioning, and
7. the body is beginning to rust (I thought they fixed this problem in the 90s)
I have been a GM owner since 1988, but my loyalty is getting tested. I use to own be a Ford fan but was converted when I bought my 1988 Blazer. Wouldn't be too difficult to go back to Fords at this point. We also own a 2002 Chevy Suburban.
