Manufacturing defects of car
I purchased a 2004 Toyota Sienna a little over a year ago. Recently the driver’s side door started making a loud noise, like something was bending. I took it in to the dealer today to have it looked at and hopefully fixed. When I arrived at the service center and showed the service tech the issue he seemed confident that it would be covered under warranty but, told me I needed to go to the body shop. Once there the guy I talked to informed me that the problem was a factory defect, but the defect was never issued as a recall.
The warranty was extended, but it only covers five years from the original purchase date or 100K miles. I was told I would have to go out of pocket $2000.00 and the entire door would need to be replaced. Not feeling happy about that answer I called Toyota corporate. Their stance was pretty much the same. Even after asking to escalate my complaint I was told there was nothing that could be done and no one I could be transferred to for further discussion on the issue.
