My Dodge Journey SXT was delivered on 31/12/2009 with snow tires which were supplied by dealer at my request. The OEM Khumo Solus all season tires were given to me at delivery date. Had snow tires switched to all season tires mid March 2010 and also advised dealer of brake vibration. Tires switched and dealer advised no vibration noted. Since that time the vehicle has been at the dealer at least 15 times for both a complete vehicle vibration and continual violent vibration whenever brakes applied. Brakes (pads, calipers, rotors, hubs) have been replaced numerous times . Tires have been checked and 2 were replaced. Road force balancing done. Vehicle has been set up to specs on more than one occasion without any improvement in the original complaint. Chrysler gave ok to put different manufacturers tires which was a suggestion of the service manager of my dealership. The DSM from Chrysler was supposed to test drive my vehicle with the OEM tires and again with the other brand tires. Unfortunately after 4 weeks of waiting for this to take place i made the decision to have my snow tires installed since snow was forecasted within another week. The snow tires are Firestone and would obviously apply as another brand. My experience after they were installed was that the vibration problems were still there and the pre existing issue would appear to not be related to tires.
The DSM did eventually test drive the vehicle and i received a call (15/12/2010) from Chrysler advising that they would call next week to bring my car in again so that it could be tested with a vibration analyser ??? To date i have had no communication from Chrysler other than my call today to their Customer Care Dept. who i might add were no help at all.
I should add that in January 2009 i had bought a Dodge Journey SXT that after 4500 kms. developped the same issues that i mention in the 2010 vehicle. After $18, 000 (dealer s' figure) and no change in the issues Chrysler and the Dealership paid off the balance of my bank loan for the 2009 vehicle. After being assured by the dealership that i would not have the same problems and the fact that i did like the overall vehicle i decided to buy a 2010 model Dodge Journey SXT. As you can appreciate in hindsight this was not a good decision on my part. Now i have a vehicle that is identical right down to the vibration problems that plagued me with the 2009 model. Also dealing with Chrysler is once again an exercise in futility.
As a footnote i should mention that i frequently ask owners of the same Dodge Journey's how their vehicle is working and if they have had any issues. I don't tell them of my problems or suggest any opinion on any issues they mention. It appears that the symptoms that i have experienced at the start are in common with how my problems came to light.
I can only conclude that there appears to be an issue with this vehicle that Chrysler seems to be ignoring and that so far have been unable to effect any way to repair them.
I would certainly be interested if other owners have had the same issues.
