Unorganized, POOR customer service
All I can say is WOW. Every time I have to deal with this bank I want to pull my hair out. I will not go into detail because I'd have to write a book! They DO NOT CARE about their customers. If I said that they were unorganized, I'd be giving them a compliment. I've had so many errors with this bank it makes me sick. I went to Byron Bank and it was like a breath of fresh air! They actually care about you and are organized with your financial info (isn't that what banks are supposed to do???).
I think every employee needs to realize that the reason they have a job is due to THEIR CUSTOMERS. Start treating your customers like they are humans, and then treat them the way you would like to be treated, and then consider them better than you (the golden rule in banking is invaluable!!!).
I am so surprised that this cmpany is still in business. STAY AWAY FROM 5/3 BANK!!!
If 5/3 ever goes under, everyone is invited to my house for a party!
5/3 GET A CLUE!!!

Removing cash deposit from account
My parents, both seniors and on a fixed income bank at 5/3 Bank. My sister who lives in Ohio went into 5/3 Bank and made a $300 cash deposit into my parents checking account yesterday. My mom checked her account via phone and the deposit was there yesterday afternoon. This morning my mom checked her account again and the money is gone! She called 5/3 customer service with the confirmation # from the deposit, first they said the deposit wasn't showing up at all. Then, they told her the teller did not turn in her receipts and the end of the night, so they just took the money out of their account! They then told my mom they couldn't tell her exactly when the money would be back in her account! A CASH deposit that they took out of her account and they cannot tell her when or why it cannot be IMMEDIATELY returned to her account? This is ridiculous and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
This very same thing happened to me at another bank and I took my deposit ticket into the bank and they re-deposited the money in my account THAT DAY!

complaint gets personal
i've had an account with 5/3 bank for about 3 years now... and would definately NOT recommend this bank to anyone, ever.
i recently reviewed my account, suspicious of all of the fees they had charged me and found that they had been rearranging all of my transactions - to rack up fees like crazy!!! and at one point i called the corporate office to complain about a particular banking center for refusing to listen to me and take my inquiries or complaints seriously... they are leagalized thieves... it is disgusting, and i went to talk to the customer service manager about my account and her assistant kept blocking my attempts... and said that anything i need to know she would just say the same thing as her manager so there was no point in speaking with her manager - she would be the one help us... well, all in all, i complained - the info got back to that particular bank and the customer service manager personally wrote me a letter saying that she was going to close my account... for "unacceptable banking practices." thanks, i'm thinking... and that the their banking practices are absolutely unacceptable...
1... i have a positive balance
2... i don't leave much in my account because it is a free checking - and i only use cash now so they can't rob fees from me
3... she told me she froze my account, yet is it not frozen
4... that they will close it in 10 days
5... and this is the kicker - THAT I NEED TO MAKE A DEPOSIT!!!?????

all of this was simply a personal attack on me - the customer, for complaining and rightly so
- and none of it made any sense - "unacceptable banking practice"
"make a deposit" so they can close my account??? what is that??? according to who? and i'm a customer? i can't complain for fight for my money if i think something is wrong... ?????
what a joke. you had better bet that the BBB, and her boss will definately be getting a copy of that ignorant, poorly executed, wannabe threatening letter...

This bank is a joke! Corporate office has some of the worst customer service I've ever come across. They treat you as if you're callinG about THEIR money, not yours. I've had 5 day holds on my checks turn to 9 days with no explanation or warning! I have overdraft, but twice now, I've been over charged for overdraft, while theres money in my savings! Just loGGed into my account to find out I'm beinG charGed aGain, not only with money in my savings, but now theres also money in my checkinG too. Can't explain that? well, neither could the snob at corporate. I reGret ever dealinG with these corporate theives. Theres a place for people this deceitful, riGht alonG side of g.w. bush.

unexplained debit
Please avoid 5/3 Bank. They bought out the First Charter locations in NC. Since the buyout, the service of what was once a good friendly caring back has turned very sour. Fee, fees, fees for everything. But the best is what they did to me. They allowed 15k to be taken out of my business account for no explainable reason. No call, no explaination, just secracy, overdraft fees, bounced checks. They have no explanation for the debit and don't care. I was forced to borrow money to re-fund my account, and they even charged me fees for depositing cash to cover my checks! And they won't refund the fees even though I have been a 20 yr customer and haven't done anything wrong. Avoid 5/3 at any cost. Questions? Contact Bob Rahilly @ [email protected]

Hold on account
We have been customers from 5/3 Bank for over 20 twenty years. I deposited a check in my checking account which was drawn off a line of credit from another institution. The check was deposited on the 15th of May and was credited to my Huntington account on the same day. The branch called to verify funds on the 16th and was told that I didn't have enough to cover the check, they didn't ask to see if the check had cleared only if the funds were available. So they put a hold on the account. A week later we got a notice from the hold, (no phone call or customer service). Three creditors were not paid because of the hold. This involved over 200.00 dollars worth of fees from the credit card companies. I pay off my accounts due to interest on credit cards. Fifth Thirds response which came from the branch manager was that it was Huntingtons fault and they were not responsible for the charge. We ask that they would write a letter to the other companies explaining the situation and they refused. I use to work for this bank and the customer service has gone in the toliet. This bank only cares about fees that they collect. I will never have another account with them and I will probably close my commercial account, along with my checking account, savings account and my investment account. Shame on the branch manager for not doing the right thing.

Fee's
The fee's at 5/3 bank are ASTRONOMICAL. To me it is absolutely ridiculous that they can debit an account immediately, but not honor deposits. This is ONLY a way for the bank to make money. It dishearten's me that a bank in this country can actually run this way. They also deduct everything in your account, from largest to smallest. Convienently for them, if you run out of money, they can charge you MORE overdraft fee's for all of the smaller items going through. They do not deduct things in chronological order. What a ridiculous company. I have talked with one person and convinced them to not use 5/3 bank. I hope to get others away from there as well.

Overdraft fees
My husband and I have had an account with First Charter for 7 years. This past year, 5/3 bank took over and we have had nothing but problems. It is true that they will hold transactions for days and hold deposits so that charges will go in before direct deposits. My husband and I both have direct deposit and we have had transactions from 5 days prior hit the bank and cause overdraft fees. Both of my daughters bank there and have had simular problems not to mention atleast 6 people at work that bank there. Recently my daugters have changed banks due to unfair overdraft charges and I am in the process of changing myself. I am campaigning to have all of my friends close their account as well (all have had the same problems excessive fees from out of nowhere). I have been told by the branch manager oh well you should not use more money than you make, the thing is I have had the money in there but due to "held debts" online balance and ATM balances are inaccurate. I have went over and over fees and debts and she could not give me an answer only to say I should have read the disclosure statement that was sent to me in June. I guess I should have read very carefully, but I did not think a financial institution would rob me blind of my hard earned money. I will tell everyone I know not to bank with them and I am talking to my employer (she banks there for her business) to see if she will move her account as well. I have never seen such a blantant form of robbery from a business that you are suppose to trust with your livelyhood.

Poor customer service
I will never use 5/3 again. I got two credit cards in Feb of 07 at no interest for a year in order to pay for a home addition. The total was 35, 000. Our intention was to use the credit cards to pay the contractor, then have a year to get a home equity loan and pay off the cards so we wouldn't pay interest starting Feb 08. I always paid at least double the monthly payments on each card to stay ahead. I missed one month's payment by a few days on both cards. Figuring I paided more anyway over the past several months, I called the company to see if they'd refund the late fees. They refused to and the service rep was rude and indifferent. I emailed a complaint to them about the service and never heard back. I had considered them for a home equity loan but this incident detered me from that. I got a loan from another financial insitution.
Today I tried to pay one online. I paid the other in full ontime (having gotten a paper bill) but this one I got no paper bill. My bank won't pay same day so I tried to login to 5/3. My PIN didn't owrk. I called customer service and was told the CC department is closed and they can't help.
I have a new loan and intend to pay off this card tomorow. I then will cancel both cards and never use 5/3 again.

OVERDRAFTS with positive balance
On 10/03/08 I depostied a Government check for $ 336.00 into my checking acct. that had a balance of $ 429.74 for what I thought was a balance of $ 765.74 . I then went to the grocery and other shopping . On the same day two (2) checks came in . The total value of ALL spending AND checks came to $ 541.52 ( $50 of that was pending and was paid out on 10/06 ). I was charged $74.00 for two (2) overdrafts ! ONE OVERDRAFT OF $ 37 for a $ 25 check and another $ 37 on a $ 4.55 debit purchase. THATS RIGHT ! $ 74.00 in fees for two items totaling $ 29.55 ! ALL THIS WHEN I HAD $ 765.74 IN THEIR STINKING BANK ! It was then explained to me that I could ONLY USE the first $ 100 of my deposit ? !?!?! I then called them up and got a very rude supervisor named Scott # 1986298 who said it was my fault and I should have known this as it had been in effect since 07 . Nobody told me until this happened . Now I see what I could have done in hindsight ... CASH THE CHECK and then DEPOSIT THE CASH BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT to have the full usable balance . This only works up to the balance you have on hand to cover the check, but in my case I could have deposited it all in cash . 5/3 BANK is a rip off organization and my wife and myself will take our $ 5000.00 a month that gos through 5/3 and take it to National City . oh, by the way, Scott # 1986298, when I mentioned that I was a loyal customer since 1998 and had for ten (10) years had "totally free checking " said " that's just a name " . When I asked for the phone number for Corporate and/or the address for corporate, REFUSED on both requests and said that HE WAS IT ! NO ONE ELSE TO TALK TO ! E.S.Manley
