I would like to contact the Federal Authorities regarding the unauthorized withdrawal from my checking account - which has been allowed by 5th 3rd Bank - in this particular case, by Hughes Net - the Dish Network Company. I signed no contract. The installer came out to my house - w/o a contract - the only paper signed was that of a list of services performed by the installer. My husband check marked the individual installation duties and signed the paper.

I had no phone number for their office, the installer had added "MyHughesNet.com" into my favorites list - for future reference - However, the website which I checked about three weeks later - was removed, put back up again later - with entirely different info.

THEN I called my bank to find out Hughes had accessed my checking account and WITHDREW $150.00. I paid the installer, btw, at the time, $125 installation fee. My first month was supposed to be free, and my next monthly payment should have been $60.00. Today, Monday, September 14th, 2009, I intend to go down to the bank and relay the raging argument I had with a bunch of incompetent individuals who had managed to get a licence to operate a Hughes Network Office.

They have insisted they will continue to remove money from my bank. The first individual I spoke to, I asked them if they had any idea how illegal this was.
The reply was a quiet and embarassed "yes".

This is not a threat. If anyone else is allowing companies to take money from this bank, regardless of location - be advised that this is an illegal Federal crime.

I will be down at the bank this morning and let them know that I will be calling our local FBI office immediatelly. Yesterday, of course was Sunday - and nothing could be done other than to lose my temper over the phone when they insisted they had my husband's name on the installation of the equipment. My husband is 71, the account for which Hughes was made was mine. The account is an individual account in my name only. Believe me, these people will be sorry they every heard my name.

Anyone with similar problems concerning a 5th 3rd Bank, please respond. A group action lawsuit would be my more powerful - and from all of the gripes I've seen in the search engine results - there are plenty of you out there. Email me at: [email protected]
