unauthorized/fraudulent withdrawal from my checking account
Same story as all the others I've read here. I was researching payday loans on the internet and the next day I have a charge for $49.99 from 777 discount club - a fake check they submitted to my bank. I called immediately and was told I filled this out/accepted their offer in conjunction with the payday loan. I was told how I could get my refund. I received a confirmation saying my refund would be processed within 72 hours and I could click a link to review. I did not receive refund and when I checked back on the status by clicking their link it took me told me more information was needed to complete my refund and took me to a form where I was asked to fill in my bank routing number, last four digits of social security number etc. I called again and told them I did not want to give them that inforamtion since they already took my money without permission and they shouldn't need that information since they obviously already had it. I was told it was for verification and I MUST fill it out to get my refund. Reluctantly, I did. Waited for my refund and next day I get an email saying it was denied. I called and was told their verification prooved I signed up and authorized payment. At that point I requested a copy of the application and authorization that they had for me. I was told that the only way to get the copy was to have my BANK request it. I asked the rep why the hell my bank would request it and she said for security purposes blah blah blah, total BS! I am filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, State attorney general - anyone I can think of! They should not be able to get away with this!
