We received a form letter with no actual contact information other than a Gmail account that promoted a coffee order business looking for “willing” charities to partner with and receive 10% of sales from customers who choose us as their selected charity. The subjects for the charities are: breast cancer, dogs, child hunger, and dolphin & whale rescue. In this economy, with so many people, dogs, children, and the environment getting hit in the gut, it’s a prime environment for non-profit organizations to look for such opportunities for “cross-advertising” with the expectation of a new and constant revenue stream. There is no contact information on the site or in the email letter. There is reference to a business goal of 1, 000 customers purchasing $75 of coffee each month, but no established number of current customers. There are two other supposed internet businesses run by the same people behind www.ScottsCoffeeHouse.com, both also conveniently leaving out any direct contact capabilities. The email inquiry of interest was vague, filled with generic, over-the-top expressions of emotion in response to our website that doesn’t actually feature client stories or heart-wrenching tales. They referred to us as a foundation, which we are not, and promote breast cancer “research” on their site, but we are a resource facility. We found no listing of them with the BBB or elsewhere online. Their site is copyrighted 2009 and I believe they are just up long enough to grab some cash and split before anyone is the wiser. A shame.
