A Plus Van Lines Reviews

Lost Items
I have filed a complaint previously but need to let others know that after I filed a written claim which included written amounts, pictures and emailed estimates on items lost I sent all this to 3 companies along with the company listed for claims in Florida for A Plus Van Lines. I sent my complaint Signature Confirmation Receipted. I heard nothing and finally called the company who was supposed to be completing the claim. The man told me they had not dealt with this company for over a year. This was the address and paperwork I was given to file a claim and now it is too late to refile anywhere else. I have LOST items that are irreplaceable...pictures of family 20 years ago that cannot be taken again. This company A Plus Van Lines tells me that they are not responsible for lost items...does this mean the only way I could get all my items delivered was to ride along in the back of the truck, stay with storage and check everything that went off the truck and came back on in order to get my items??? This makes no sense that someone cannot mark off items as they are put on a truck and taken off to make sure all items are there...Damaged items I can understand but not lost items...and there seems nothing I can do to get my LOST items back again.
I am royally po'd at this company and at the Better Business Bureau in Florida and also the Transportation Dept. in Wash D.C. that I copied on my claim for not hearing anything from any of them...Several pics are below but these are not the ones of the pictures I lost in transit. I guess I am mostly mad at companies like the BBB that evidently does nothing and lets these companies continue to ruin peoples lives.

Terrible experience
I only wish all of these complaints were posted prior to my research on A Plus Van Lines back in July 2008 - it would have saved me a lot of headache, money and furnishings. As a public service I decided NOT to take their settlement for my damaged goods which amounted to $108 and an agreement to NEVER speak publicly about my settlement (the items damaged and destroyed totaled more than $7, 000). Instead I decided to voice my opinions on every complaint site available to me in an attempt to save others the trouble of dealing with this company.

Since I was moving some very valuable inherited items I opted to use their 'professional' packing service at a cost of $400 to 'professionally' pack those items. Out of the 7 large items THEY packed...3 were damaged and 1 was completely destroyed. In addition to the furniture, my boxes were damaged, crushed, destroyed. 7 boxes were a complete loss. They even 'repacked' 3 of my boxes.

Like the others that complained, I too was charged extra to actually ship all of the items that they included in the quote. I paid an additional $500 for the 'additional' cubic space - however we had to leave off the truck the entire patio furniture set that was included in the quote. They wanted an additional $900 to put that on the truck? This company makes a lot of promises. Melanie, who claimed to be the manager, was AWFUL to work with and provided nothing I would call customer service.

As my items were being unloaded from the truck I could tell there were problems and I immediately called Melanie. She actually told me now that I had made the final payment she would no longer speak with me and that I would have to contact the claims department from now on. She said A Plus Van Lines had no further obligation to deal with me. I will always regret being the one who made the decision to use this company.

moving company scams
I have a similar complaint with this company. They showed up and double the price of our move. Then they left 1/4 of our belongings behind, saying they couldn't fit it on the truck and I would have to purchase a whole new truck. We lost so much money. They took over 2 weeks to deliver and were missing for several days, the dispatcher said they hadn't heard from the driver. When I finally got my stuff, the night before thanksgiving, much of it was damaged. The driver was so mean and disrespectful to me, and when he finally arrived at my house he demanded I order him and his labor ready men 2 pizzas. Horrible horrible company. I would give anything to go back and not pick them to move us.

LIES IN MOVING
DO NOT USE A PLUS VAN LINES!!! They will lie to you and steal your money. It was a disaster arranging my pickup, then I was promised a certain delivery, which ended up being 2 weeks later. I was quoted one price and had to pay another. AND THEN THEY DAMAMGED 1/2 OF MY FURNITURE!!! I have over $2000 worth of furniture that is damaged and they offered me $69.00, are you kidding?

Vast misrepresentation
Buyer beware of A Plus Van Lines! Please do not use this moving service.

We received an estimate for a move of my mother-in-law (a simple move of 250 miles). I would have done the move myself but there was a piano involved. They called my mother-in-law to get an inventory, which my mother-in-law provided.

When the movers arrived, they claimed that the cubic footage was much more than estimated. The irony is that the moving company had estimated the cubic footage to begin with, and that we in reality had 10-20% FEWER items than had been originally inventoried. The items that were to be moved were of a STANDARD SIZE (queen size bed, chest, etc.) and thus could not have been oversized. As a result, they wanted an EXTRA $700-$1000! The movers themselves ACKNOWLEDGED that this company REGULARLY DOES THIS TYPE OF THING (vast underestimate).

I immediately canceled the move, but of course they have your deposit.

I've learned my lesson. Don't be scammed by these people.

No Show
I was ordered to active duty on short notice to deploy overseas. I contacted these guys and the earliest that they scheduled it for was the day before I had to report.
THEY NEVER SHOWED UP AT ALL. I kept calling all day and I was treated rudely. I finally had to just leave my stuff behind and report for duty and I still haven't gotten my deposit back.
I have a lawyer now and I think I a good case.

poor service
The agent Felipe said 7-10 days to move 40 boxes from Fla. to Ca. for my 86 year old mother. After a dozen conversations, today I was told it would be at least 1 month before delivery by Melanie(claims to be manager). They have told my brother and I anything to get us off the phone.

Filling complaints with FTC, Better Business Bureau, State, and taking them to court!!!

Do not use them.
