Missing and Damaged Goods
We hired "A Professioanl Move" out of Montecito, CA to ship our household goods from Temecula, CA to Morristown, TN. Our household goods were picked up on August 25, 2007. We were told the shipment would be sent directly to TN and would arrive in 3-5 days. When we contacted them a week later, they stated it was sitting in storage "waiting for a truck going that way". When we finally received our goods on September 13th, a good portion of our shipment was missing. After several emails and phone calls, A Professional Move will not respond and actually stated to me, "we get phone calls all the time from people telling us that they received items that didn't belong to them, so we will let you know if someone calls us." Huh? What kind of business operates like this? They have refused to help us.

Online movers- beware!
We hired A Professional Move aka Fidelity Van Lines, Inc. to relocate our family from the Oregon coast to Pocatello, Idaho. We were contacted by the company via internet when we were looking for quotes. We hired them on June 5th and agreed they would store and relocate our household belongings to begin on June 8, 2007. I sent Irina an inventory list and was quoted $3166.00 and we agreed on the contract included in the following pages. I made a $500.00 deposit and was told the truck would be at my house by 10am on June 8th. Brian had gone ahead to Idaho to start his new job. We gave our notice to our landlords to be vacated on the 8th of June.
I made an appointment with carpet cleaners to do the carpets at 5:00 the evening of the 8th. The plan was for my daughter and I to be on the road to our new home the morning of the 9th, approximately 750 miles away (about 12 hours driving time).
6/8/07 I called A Professional Move at 9am to get an ETA on the truck that was to move us. I was told that the truck had broken down and was 40 miles away. They would be at my house as soon as the truck was fixed. I called again at 11am, 1:20pm and again at 4pm. I was told that they would be getting a Budget truck and would be there soon. I asked where they were at and was told in Vancouver, WA.
At this time I knew they would not be there anytime soon. Vancouver is about 3-4 hours away from Oceanside, OR depending on traffic through the Portland area. I rescheduled my carpet cleaner and was told I would be charged a weekend rate of $35.00 more.
I could go on and on but it is the same as all of the other complaints from moving companies. Is there something that can be done to these awful people? It has to hit them in the pocketbook. Money is the only thing they understand- it sure isn't customer service! Any suggestions would be great- we've lost our entire CD collection about 9, 000 dollars worth. Will there ever bee justice?
