They are incredibly rude on the phone and use profanity
This so called 'dog rescue' falsely claims to be a non-profit rescue. They are not a non-profit (501-C). They are incredibly rude on the phone and use profanity. This might be a scam. Watch out and stay away! Get a dog for the Humane Society and truly rescue a animal!

She did not check my references, nor did she call me to talk to me about my application
I looked into adopting a poppy from A1K9 Rescue in Ohio. I did not end up adopting from her because I was not comfortable with the high volume of dogs that she has been 'selling' and that the majority of them 'have been rescued from puppy mills that have been closed down.' Seems suspicious seeing that she is not registered as a non-profit and her adoption fees are excessively high. I got approved within five minutes of e-mailing my application. She did not check my references, nor did she call me to talk to me about my application, it was done in a matter of minutes via e-mail. I got in touch with another family who adopted from A1K1 after I posted my concerns online, and they have noticed the same thing. According to the couple I got in touch with, A1K9 rescue did not check their references, nor did she follow-up to confirm the neutering agreement. Their application was approved within minutes of being submitted. The fact that she is taking requests for specific breeds is a red flag in our opinion. I get the feeling she is supporting the puppy mills rather than rescuing dogs in need. When asked via e-mail, she was very vague about where she acquired the poppies from; just saying it was a puppy mill.
