AAMCO Reviews

lied about everything
I am very disappointed in the service that this "so called business" provided or did not provide in that matter. On July 2, 2011 which was a Saturday I called this location to see if I can get an estimate or idea to see roughly how much a repair to a transmission would run. I spoke to Jose. He stated that he could not provide a price over the phone and that he would like for me to come in and bring the vehicle so he can see what the issue with the transmission is. We brought the car in on Tuesday July 6th at 8am like he asked. Jose said that he would not charge us to look at the vehicle and he would give us a price the next business day. The next business day we called and Jose said he was would get back to us but he did not. We made several phone calls and got the run around. On Friday when we called back we spoke to Brian who claims to be the manager of the establishment. He stated that they didn't even look at the car because they were very backed up and the car wasn't even looked at. I was upset and Brian assured us that the car would be done on Monday. On monday we called and Jose specifically said that the cost to do the work is no more than $2, 500.00 and that they would call us when the car is completed to pick up. A week passed by and we called on Monday July 18th to see the status of the vehicle then to find out that the car hasn't even been touch. At this point very frustrated I wanted to pick up the vehicle. Brian apologized and said he would call us back with some news. Brian called back and said the cost of the vehicle is $3, 800.00. At this point I'm irate. Arguing back and forth with Brian he asked Jose what was the price he told me and he stated that he indeed say $2, 500.00 Brian tried arguing the fact that he didn't know why Jose said that the price that that price is incorrect (by the way Jose is supposebly the owner). At this point I didn't want to do the car. I said I will be there to pick it up. We got a song and a dance about we still have to pay $750.00 because they spent 12 Hours of labor. No work was done to the transmission and Jose said it was FREE to look at the car. Brian called several times today 7/20/2011 harrassing me and pleading for us to do the car with them and that it's not smart to go anywhere else etc etc. He litteraly called 5 times to try to convince me to do the car. When I put my foot down and refused he said and I quote: "well come pick up this damn car and your not getting it with out paying my $750.00 and hung up. I decided to write this so no one else goes through this again.I see many complaints about Aamco on various differnt sites and they need to be shut down. I will be taking them to court. I do appreciate the time you took to read this.

Avoid this shop
Beware of the Aamco transmission shop in FWB! This place is a full fledged scam that will make up repairs that your vehicle is in need of and then make excuses for why the original problem still exists all the while still expecting payment for the unnecessary fix.

We brought in our Expedition for rear end clunking, our warranty company told us that Aamco will except the warranty company's payment amount. So we think great no out of pocket costs...think again. Aamco said that the rear end needed to be rebuilt and received approval from our warranty company for the work($1200). The work done and Aamco paid in full the rear end still clunks and now it whines like crazy too. We bring it back in again for another diagnostic and they say nothing is wrong w/ the truck and that we need to bring it back in at 5K miles to have rear end fluid changed and the whining will go away...but it still clunks? They now say that this is "normal" transmission double down shifting and does not require repair...now we are confused because you rebuilt the rear end, which was supposed to be the clunking issue fix and now that isn't a problem at all??? So why did the rear end get rebuilt? No answer...so fast forward to 5K miles later and we bring in the truck for our appointment for the oil to be changed and wait for a full 2 hours after our appointment for the truck to even be taken back for service. We meet w/ the service guy after the oil change and he says it is still whining...we ask why...he says he doesn't know, but it should get better. He goes on to tell us that maybe the rear end has additional issues and that is why it is whining, we tell him that it did not whine before they touched it only clunked, now it is whining and clunking. At this point he says that he noticed uneven wear on our rear tires, this is the most astounding thing about this situation because our tires are brand new with a total of 30 miles on them (yes 30 miles). We tell him that the tires are brand new and cannot possibly show uneven wear after only 30 miles to which he has no reply and simply stumbles over his words, at this point we realize that he is simply trying to get us to once again have an unnecessary repair done at their shop! Once he recovers a little bit from the tires he hits us w/ the total bill for the oil change is $137! I was dumbfounded...we were under the impression that this needed to be done and was a part of the original rebuild costs, he informs us that no it is not and says that he can do away with the labor costs and that we will only be required to pay $67 for the oil.

We have been waiting for several days for the shop manager to return our calls about getting the oil charge refunded to us, the service guy said that it would likely be refunded and yet no one calls us.

Please avoid this shop at all costs or you will likely be in for a nightmare of paying for something that isn't necessary.

rip off
I took my 2000 Dodge Durango to the Aamco in Douglasville GA on Fairburn road. I was told the man that I was having transmission problems. He told me that I need to have my transmission rebuilt. The cost to have my transmission rebulit would be 1600.00 So on tuesday june 21th I tdropped my truck off to be reapired. Then on Thursday June 23th I recieved a call from the man at Aamco saying that the cost had gone up to 2, 289.70 to rebuild my transmission. because once they open my transmission it needed more work odne it then expected. I told him that I couldn't not afford that and that wasn't the price quote that he had given me on Tuesday. He claimed that it was the cost of the parts and that he would all around to see if he could find something cheaper. He later called me and said that he couldn't find cheaper parts and that was the cost of the repair. He said that if i had the title of my truck I could do a title loan, Aamco work with a title loan company. I declined and said that I would be coming to get my truck that afternoon. He said that I couldn't come get my truck until I pay 500.00 for labor and they had to put my transmission back in the truck and I would be able to get it until monday.( I was never told about t 500.00 fee until then.) On friday june 24th I called again and told them that I was coming to get my truck and he said that they weren't going to replace my transmission until I pay the 500.00. So at this point they are holding my truck for RANSOM !!! I just want my truck back so I can take it somewhere to be fixed...I WILL NEVER USE ANY AAMCO COMPANY EVER AGAIN

Didn't offer services they claimed to offer
I called Aamco because they were the only transmission shop within 60 miles of my residence. I spoke with a guy over the phone who asked what my car was doing. I told him that the vehicle was driving normal, had never had any transmission issues whatsoever, the fluid was normal level and suddenly the overdrive light started blinking, about 30 seconds later the vehicle began to rev up, jump and shift into the next gear everytime it would shift. As I said I had no prior warning of this happening because my car hasn't had problems. The Aamco employee told me that it sounded like my car (98 Ford Contour) had gone into something called fail safe mode and it sounded like it was probably a sensor or something that had gone bad because transmissions usually don't just go out with no warning. He told me I could have my car towed in the following Monday. I went to this Aamco because on their website it says they will approve you for financing, no credit checks. I did this just in case I needed to have work done and it was something more serious then a sensor. At 11:15am Rick who claimed to be the manager at the store called and told me that they pulled the codes PO732 and PO734 from my car and that those codes basically meant that I had no 2nd gear. He told me that he can not further diagnose my car without taking out the entire transmission and just for removing the transmission and the diagnosis it would be 675.00. He then quoted me prices. He said if there was a minor problem inside the transmission or a sensor (why cant you get to a sensor without taking out the tranny?) then it would end up running about 1200 - 1400.00. If there was a major issue and they needed to rebuild the tranny then it would run 2400 - 2800.00. I told them I didnt have this kind of money and the only way I could do it is if they financed me through the program they advertise. "Rick" told me he would call me back. I got a call back again saying that this particular Aamco doesn't offer the financing with no credit check and that I would have to apply for GE credit to have the work done. Needless to say during all of this I found out that three other people I know recently were told the SAME thing about their cars (one of who just had bad fluid/filter) and luckily none of those people approved the repairs either. The day after I refused the work I got a rude call from "Rick" telling me my car is bottlenecking their shop and I need to get it out of there.

I saw on the outside of the building that it was Aamco but nobody was wearing Aamco gear and the "manager" appeared to be some guy off the street. I also noticed the permits on the walls for for a Pacific Coast Transmission not for Aamco. These people did NOT try to help me, they falsely advertised their financing options forcing me to use a AAA tow that I wouldn't have used if I knew and now I am without a car thanks to them and their outrageous ways and prices.

transmission
I needed a transmission replaced so I took it to Aamco thinking that would be the best place since they are everywhere and I wouldn't have any problems with it. BUT I WAS WRONG DON'T GO THERE! I travel from Kansas City, Mo to Springfield Mo so the closest place was located in Kansas City KS. They towed it there for me then after it got there said it would be 495 just to look at it. They could of told me that before they towed it, anyway they gave me a price of 1600. By the time the transmission was fixed my bill was over $2100.00. I picked it up thinking at least I had a good transmission now. WRONG it started slipping during the first week and still is. You think if you pay that much money it would work right. Since then I've taken it to the Springfield MO location wanting them to fix it. They say no hassle with warranty and that's not what I'm getting. In order for them to do anything it has to read on their machine in order to look at it. So basically I'm stuck with a slipping transmission and no one wants to do anything about it. So take your business else where people, because all they do is screw people over!!! It's a hassle and still not fixed.

Better stay away from Aamco
I had taken my car to Aamco to have the transmission replaced in July. They gave me a quote that seemed a little high and I couldn’t afford it at the time, so I bought a transmission with a 101 day warranty and took it to them to install. They told me it would take about a week till they could get around to it.

I was fine with that except I called everyday and they kept telling me it would be done tomorrow. After a week and a half, the guy tells me that transmission wouldn’t work, because it was $1, 100 and a 30 day warranty but they wouldn’t put it in writing.

I drove it for 5 days and then it started making all these noises. I took it back to them and they said the trans. was fine but it needed an axle and a bunch of other parts. Bill $600. By the way, the I was dealing with previously was fired or quit or something. Drove the car for a week and the trans. Left me stranded 2 hours away from home.

Had a tow it to Aamco. They said there was no warranty on any of the previous work and were going to charge $450 just to look at it. I argued with the guy for about an hour and didn’t get anywhere. I had a tow truck come and get the car. Ended up paying $1700 and was without a car for 2 months.

Auto Repair
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I took my car to the shop on 2/16/2011, it was listed as the preferred vendor for my warranty company. At first AAMCO told me the TCM needed to be replaced. After sitting on my car and doing nothing for nearly two weeks they replaced the TCM and towed my car to the dealership to have the computer reprogrammed. When AAMCO got it back from the dealer, there was an additional code regarding the transmission solenoid. At that point I was told by AAMCO they would need to replace the solenoid. When AAMCO went it to start replacing the solenoid, they noticed metal shavings in the transmission pan. I was then told the transmission would need to be replaced. I have yet to get my car back and its now almost a month later. AAMCO should have did a complete diagnostics and looked in the metal pan before replacing all these parts I probably did not need!

Left me without car
I went to AMMCO in Glendale, CA. Had I read the reviews I would have never stepped foot there. Anyways they charged me 89.99 for a diagnostic, which I was fine with. Even though I already knew what was wrong with the car, but I agreed to it because I wanted and estimate of the cost to repair. John told me to give them a couple of hours and they would call me back. I told them I didn't have a way to get home, so he told me they would give me a ride home and pick me up when my car was done. I go home, two hours pass they call me and tell me exactly what I already know the transmission grinds. They estimate the cost at around 1500. I tell them i don't have that kind of money. He starts insisting that I do the repairs or my transmission might get damaged further, even though I have had this problem for almost forty thousand miles. He keeps pushing forward "do you have credit? Do you have someone that can lend you money?". Long story short they tell me they can't pick me up because "they have no one available" and they tell me if I don't pick up my car by 4:45 that they will close. My only other option is to ride my bicycle to Glendale but there is no way I can make it in time before they close.Of course they say they can pick me up the next day. Now I'm stuck with no car for the night so I can't pick up my wife from work at midnight and I work tomorrow morning. Had I known they were going to leave me stranded I would have never agreed to any of this. I figured I would pay for an estimate and this is what 89.99 dollars gets me.

I had AAMCO tow my vehicle 60 miles to their shop as I did not have up to date insurance or tags...the company was aware of this. I told them what needed done and approx. 5 days later they called and said it was finished. I told them it would be approx. 10 days till I picked it up as I was waiting for a paycheck that i would pay the repair bill put new tags and renew insurance. Two days later my husband drove around the corner from my house ( 60 miles away) and our vehicle was sitting out front. My husband went and asked the homeowner where they got the vehicle. The woman told my husband she was getting her vehicle repaired at AAMCO and that the vehicle was the loaner that they gave her. We informed her that was our vehicle and the police were called. We drove our vehicle around the corner and put it back in our garage. The next day we went to AAMCO...I asked where my vehicle was and the "owner" told me he loaned it to a lady who was in a tight spot without a car. He didnt want me to contact the police...and offered me a WOW big 20% off. I told him no thank you that I would not be paying the bill and that he had no right to loan out my car..he proceded to tell me that I was going to punish him 2000 dollars and go to the news and ruin his reputation because he made a small bad judgment call...ummm yes i think i will...i then proceded to tell him if he felt so bad for the lady he should of loaned her his personal vehicle not one of his customers...remember this vehicle had NO TAGS AND NO INSURANCE
