Bad Service
I purchased a new Whirlpool side by side refrigerator at Lowe's in July of 04 for around $1000. In March of 09 it quit working. I called for repair, thinking it was the compressor, which was still under warranty. The repairman from A&E said it was only a relay, but it cost me $300 for the service call and an additional 1 year warranty. In Mid March of 2010, my ice maker started producing less ice. I had the freezer really full, so I moved some stuff out of it to a chest freezer. I also turned the the temperature a little cooler. I watched it for a few days, timing the cycles, and it seemed to be working, but maybe not as well as I had thought it used to. Well, the first week in April it quit completely. I called A&E, and explained my whole process of trying everything in the manual before calling them. Sorry sir, but the warranty you purchased expired(one week prior). We can send someone out to diagnose it, for $65, plus the cost to repair it and parts. Well, I live in a very small town, and I knew the repairman only lives 3 houses from me. I went to talk to him, and he wouldn't help me a bit. So much for neighbors, huh? Anyway, I found a troubleshooting site on the net, determined I needed a new ice maker, and ordered one on the net. With 2 day shipping it is $55.00. It is a 15 minute install. Never again Whirlpool or A&E

Worst Service I have ever experienced.

Made service appointment for repair of a dying side by side refrigerator. Service technician did not show up during the four hour appointment time block. I contacted the service rep and technician dispatch 4 times without a response or without getting the same story twice. I even was told by one rep that the technician had tried to call my home and cell phone twice without a response. Both of which were with me and had not been called. Obviously lies are just part of another days work at A&E Services. After having to throw away all my food, I decided to cancel my appointment and find a local repair person.

For some reason it is relief to have canceled my appointment, without any other repair company scheduled.

I work as a project manager for a general contractor and purchase probably 10 to 200 appliances a year for various commercial projects. Now that I know the terrible experience that accompanies the A&E Service, I can hopefully avoid letting my clients fall into the same frustating joke I did. It is also unfortunate that Whirlpool and other manufacturers with A&E agreements often get the black eye for the service instead of the actual provider.

For anyone considering A&E, please just buy a new one or pray it starts working again. It is not worth it.

Unsatisfactory service!
I purchased a Whirlpool WTW5800 washer in October 2007. Then my issues started with A&E Service. A timeline ensues

November 2007 – Washer leaks and gets worse as month goes on.

December 8, 2007 – A&E technician comes out at about 11:30 (I was given 8 – 12 window). Mis-diagnosis of the issue results in the statement “do not fill past half full, Whirlpool has known problem with this washer”. Completes around 12:30

January, February, March 2008 – We take the technician at his word, bemoan Whirlpool quality, and do twice as many loads as before we bought our “new” washer.

March 3, 2008 – My son slips on the wet floor and hits his head on the tile. Enough is enough. Obviously there is another problem and I make another appointment.

March 15, 2008 - A&E technician comes out at about 11:45 (I was given 8 – 12 window). Completes around 1:00. Finally, a possible root cause is found. Need to order a part. A&E needs to come out another Saturday.

March 22, 2008 – A&E technician calls around 10:00 to inform us that he will be out a little after noon. At 2:00 PM, I call A&E. Technician is now ill and cannot come out. A&E cannot send anyone else out. I guess overtime is more expensive than good customer service. I ask for a specific time for the next visit, and the Supervisor tls me that the request is impossible to satisfy.

So, I am being asked by A&E to give up four Saturday morning and early afternoons and over 20 hours to have my washer repaired. In few words, just unacceptable customer service.

I bought a Whirlpool because I thought the quality would be better. When the quality was not there, I expected that the service would be at least average. Needless to say, my first experiences with both Whirlpool and A&E (most importantly A&E) will lead me unlikely to do business with either of them again. I am truly disappointed in my experience.
