I have never written a complaint on a website before, but I truly feel the need to warn others about this billing company as they are irresponsible and a true nightmare to deal with. Before you sign up for a gym or training sessions find out what billing service they have. IF IT IS ABC FINANCIAL DO NOT BECOME INVOLVED. Trust me- please do not find out the hard way like I have had to suffer through.
I relocated in October, 2010. Before moving I started a gym membership & training sessions with Omni Gym. Last month in November I gave Omni's payment processing company, ABC Financial Services, my 30 day notice to cancel both my gym membership and my gym training sessions.
I called ABC Financial 3 different times to record the stipulations for cancelling membership & training sessions; the purpose for the multiple calls was to be 100% sure I was following all guidelines and that I was given the correct information. No membership cancellation guidelines are given by the gym (they handle nothing involving payments, it all has to be done through ABC) or on the ABC website; the only way of obtaining cancellation guidelines is through word of mouth by the company representatives.
These were the stipulations given to me by the 3 ABC representatives to cancel my training sessions:
1. Need to send in a written notice to ABC stating the cancellation of my training sessions, and give my account #
2. I would need to move away more than 25 mi. from the nearest Omni gym. The only Omni gym locations are in Pensacola and Fort Myers, FL.
3. Would need to show proof that I have moved out of Fort Myers. It was explained to me over the phone that, "A copy of my new driver's license reflecting the change in address" would suffice.
4. I would have to pay 20% of the remaining balance of training sessions.
I sent all of this information in: Written and signed notice, photo copy back and front of my new driver's license, and a check for the exact amount owed.
The check was cashed by ABC Financial Services on 11/23/2010.
The next week I received a reimbursement check in the mail from ABC for the same amount.
I was concerned that they didn't cancel my account and wanted to understand why- especially after I clearly asked in my paper work to call me directly if there were any problems.
I called ABC requesting the status of my account, and they said a hold was put on my account cancellation due to "insufficient proof of change in address".
They said the "date issued" on my license states 11-09-2009, and that it doesn't prove to them that I have moved.
When I specifically asked for cancellation guidelines it was never mentioned that the "date issued" would be a factor ! They only stated address change!
When you request a new ID with address change both online and at the DMV, the date issued on your license does not change! You would have to order an entirely new license. THE ONLY WAY I WOULD KNOW TO LOOK FOR THAT IS IF IT WAS SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THE CANCELLATION GUIDELINES.
To end a long story the compnay wanted to charge me an additional fess or until I could give them sufficient proof. I feel entirely cheated and scammed- I went to great lengths to avoid problems and get this taken care of in a timely manner only to feel cheated out of my hard earned money. Never enter a contract unless cancellation guidelines are given in hard copy!
I have read reviews online about this company and there are never ending pages of people claiming fraud and scam jobs. Lesson learned that you should never enter a contract until you know and trust the party controlling the purse. Thanks and I hope this helps you.
