So my fiance negotiated a weight for our moving costs. He negotiated free stairs, free packaging and if the weighed amount was above what we estimated a maximum charge. We started at 1575 with a max out of 2100 and ended up paying 4103. How do you ask did we end up paying so much?
The movers came to our house, my fiance was already in Washington, so it was just me. The movers came and had all of this paperwork. They also acted like they couldn't speak any English. They had me sign paperwork, which I was thinking that I was going to get a copy of. They had bombarded me with four movers while trying to get me to sign paperwork so I was attempting to watch my items as they were forcing me to sign papers. My fiance had negotiated everything and when I got to the paperwork about packaging charges there were no numbers filled in and I had asked about them and he said not to worry. Now remember this document had no numbers filled in and I was expecting a copy. Well they were moving all of my stuff out and strategically had me planned out like a dummy. They filled in the numbers afterwards, where it was apparently supposed to be free and it wasn't ended up being a 1315 dollar charge! When I asked continually about it he shook his head as if he couldn't speak English and took off with my stuff. So we got to the weigh in station and apparently the stuff weighed 6000 lbs and I couldn't really tell you if it weighed that much because they wouldn't give me a copy of the weigh in. The funny thing was they didn't even ask me to initial off on it because apparently I had signed it before they actually marked in the weight. Now as if that is legal or not I have no idea. I called my fiance and told him about what had happened. He was freaking out and told the guy to stop filling in numbers because it was not the agreed upon contract. Then it was kind of retarded because all of a sudden the movers who couldn't speak any English was all of a sudden screaming to me "your husband doesn't no nothing." They told us that we weren't supposed to be charged shipping, but because I had agreed to it that they could charge us for it. I never agreed to anything and the worse part was that the guy told us were stupid for listening to them and what apparently was only supposed to take 1 or 2 days at most to deliver, they laughed when we called them the following day and told us they could keep our stuff for 14 days so not to expect delivery in the next day or so.
