I moved into this apartment in April 09 and almost 1 year has passed with the same problem. My private garage (enters into my apt only) is blocked by various vehicles at least 1 time a week for the past year. I have been trapped both inside and out of my garage at least 1 time a week for 11 months now. I have missed medical appointments, business meetings, college classes, and been trapped inside my garage during a medical emergency by other tenants' vehicles. I pay around $1200 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment which a private garage. I contacted corporate (Erica Arthur at Ovation) and she basically does not care that I am paying for a garage that I cannot even use, nor does she sympathize with that fact that I have been trapped inside my apartment over 50 times in the last 11 months. I have given her numerous photographs of cars blocking my garage, as well as suggested many solutions and all she had to say was that they already put up "no parking" signs that are "eye sores" and that there was nothing else that she would do for me. She then presented the option of relocation to another apartment at my own cost and time expense. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she told me that she was the end of the line, and that if I try to contact the president of the company I will get no results and that the issue will just get passed back to her and she will do nothing about it.
Since the apartment complex is not furnishing me with a usable garage, because they cannot enforce the regulations/red zones on their own property, I would like some kind of compensation for the past 11 months as well as the next 6 months left on my lease (such as a rent reduction to the price of an apt without a garage, prorated rent reduction for the 5 days a month for 15 months that I cannot use the garage, or a free months rent at a new apt in the complex to account for the cost and inconvenience of moving because they cannot enforce their rules).
