Honeywell is advertising their Glass breaking detectors FG-1615 as " the ultimate protection, first line of defense and clear choice for detection of
breaking of ANY KIND OF GLASS.
I had 6 of them installed buy Brinks/ADT technician ( ADT charges 165$ for each plus 3 yrs monitoring contract). My motion detector was removed by installer with explanation that with such superb glass breaking detectors motion detector is not needed.
After recent negative information about their value I have tested every one of them by breaking variety of glass in front of them. Not a single of those glass breaking detectors did activate my alarm system???? I repeated the same tests in front of TWO different technicians with the same result. To prove that they work both of them tested them by a: hitting them with the head of they screwdriver and b: testing them by Honeywell provided tester/simulator. See, they are working they and their supervisors claimed.
Until either Honeywell or ADT prove that those expensive glass breaking detectors detect broken glass I consider them worthless false security junk junk and a rip off of countless customers. To protect my home I had ADT technician install motion sensor( removed by ADT technician as not needed)
and charged by ADT 170$ ?? Sickening!
I do not believe that any intruder will have courtesy to notify me of his intrusion by hitting those" glass breaking detectors" with either a screwdrivers head or apply Honeywell simulator.
TRUST BUT VERIFY
DO NOT BUY THEM UNLESS INSTALLER PROVES THEIR VALUE BY BREAKING SAMPLE GLASS TO ACTIVATE THEM.
