Lied About Free Install in New Home
We signed up with ADT in July 2006. When we had the system installed we were told that if we moved after 2 years we would get free installation of a system in our new house. In January 2009, we moved to a new home and called ADT to have a system installed. ADT claimed that we were only eligible for a $99 credit towards the cost of a new system and we would have to shell out several hundred dollars. My DH got so fed up with ADT's lies that we decided to go with one of their competitors. Stay away from ADT and their lies!!!

Customer Service
I called ADT among many other alarm companies when I was shopping for a service. After about an hour long conversation, I agreed to have someone come out and look around my home to discuss setting up the service and signing their contract. I was told my credit card would not be charged until the contract was signed and I just had to give them the number to hold the appointment. Two days later I had a charge for $107, their activation fee +tax. When I called customer service, I was told that's their policy and I would have to wait 30 days for my refund. When I explained that wasn't good enough and I had been promised that nothing would be charged in the first place, he told me to read my brochure (which I didn't have, I'd spoken to someone on the phone) and I would have to wait 30 days like everyone else. That's when I asked for a supervisor and the call got really bad. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the CUSTOMER SERVICE rep telling me that a supervisor was not available but they would call me back. When I said I wanted to hold, he told me that this wasn't a supervisor issue and they were going to tell me the same thing he had already explained. By the end of my phone call with him, he was threatening to "disconnect the call" if I couldn't realize that I didn't need to speak to a supervisor. I finally got the supervisor who said she would escalate the refund (that should not have been charged in the first place)! I HATE ADT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SALESMEN AND CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS!

No customer service
This is the worst service i have ever seen.
I resorted to begging for help.
Still no help. Just answering machines and sorry i can't help you...you need another department. I have called many times. I ave waited for 3 months. When i tell them i am going to cancel the contract that i have been paying on for three months due to no service they tell me about all the fees i would have to pay.
Please do not do business with ADT they are the worst in customer service i have ever seen. One of their own sales men told me it is hard for him to come back and help me once he has made the sale becouse he has a quota to meet and he does not have time for me once the contract has been signed.

bad business ethics poor servie
I have had ADT for two years and thank God my contract is over with (i hope). For about the firt 6-7 months of service, we didn't have service. We had their technician come out to fix our system but he would blame our cable company (comcast) for the issues and told me that I had to contact comcast to fix the issues. So I had Comcast come out and they were unable to diagnose the problem. Turns out that a mouse or some critter had eaten through my telephone wire in my crawlspace so I spliced the wires together and tadah!!! the system worked. This tells me that the technician never checked the wiring in the first place.
My second major issue with them is when we signed for the service, we were told that if the phone line was ever cut that ADT would automatically be notified that the wiring had been tampered with. That clearly didn't happen since I was without service for about 7 months.
Finally, our two year agreement is up. I called to cancel our service and the customer service rep would not let me cancel because my wife signed the contract, not me. I'm the one who's billing information they have. Anyhow, I had her talk to the service rep and they still would not cancel because they said they only gave out 3 year contracts and that this was the contract we had. Good thing I have a copy of our contract! So we read our contract verbatim stating our 2 year obligation with them. The service rep said our service would be canceled but we never received a confirmation of our canceled service. And since you have to give them a 30 day notice before canceling, I have to deal with one more sh@tty month of service. I will have to call them tomorrow to make sure our service was canceled so that this does not drag on any longer

rip off and useless
We stopped the ADT security system for my aunt at least 1 1/2 years ago because she'd become too confused the arm and disarm it. On Christmas day 2009 I went to check on my aunt and found a piercing screech that had been going on for 2 hrs. The phones did not work and when I called ADT on the cell phone to ask them how the alarm could be turned off, they had no answers except that if I didn't have the password there wasn't anything they could do. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold then disconnected.
I finally ripped the ADT unti off the wall which stopped the horrible noise. Next day had an electrician to find the problem with the phones not working. He found that ADT had never bothered to disconnect the phone line from their system. When the battery back up ran down it set the alarm off.
My aunt is an 80 year old woman with memory loss; she has a Lifeline attached to her phone. When phone wasn't working neither was the Lifeline.

Harrassment
Endlessly I receive harrassing calls from ADT, since purchasing my home a year ago. They go in phases where they will call me everyday sometimes twice a day.
They have even visited my home twice to harrass me to purchase their security system.
How do I stop them from continuing to harrass me.

Rip Off
Would like to say that ADT is a money making scheme, they send salespersons who probably has a Standard 5 Education to sell their product, needless to say how they train these guys to sell a product where they legally bind you for 3 years. So sad cause I was asked to finish off at my current job, was told by these ''Educated'' salespersons that you could cancel the contract at anytime, now because you didn't read your forced contract you are bound to pay the remainder of a contract that first of all is of no use, cause you never see an ADT Security person in the area, and the customer service is just pathetic. You can never get hold of the CEO's or second in charge cause they playing Golf with all the monies we pay. Nobody ever calls you back with solutions rather giving you options like to clear you name from ITC you have to pay the remainder of the contract, what sort of nonsense is this, by signing this contract we give up our right to cancel or terminate this contract. Isn't our country already in so much bad debt, and now they list you cause you can't afford to pay their salaries. Is there not an Institute that helps one with these kind of companies, that force you to sign up with them, and because you didn't read the fine print, your life or your name is blacklisted.
I pray that God will have mercy on your souls, how you could swindle people and force them to sign up with you, I will hand this matter over to my Almighty Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Never received $200 Visa Card
I was promised with the purchase of my ADT alarm system that I would receive a 200.00 gift card for the promotion. It has been over 2 months and I have called serveral times. I have not received my Visa Gift Card and was planning on paying for the first few months of service with it- Please contact and let me know, they said that I was suppossed to get a email but never received that either.

Alarm defective system and care
We contracted with ADT a little over a year ago to install a new system. We wanted a system that did not need to be dependent on a land line and we wanted 4 cameras initially with the option to expand to 8 later. The sales person suggested which equipment we should purchase and the placement of items so we agreed. From the beginning our concerns were ignored. First of all we requested that the installation happen in one day, so that we would not have to take multiple days off. This was ignored, they would come install a piece or two then tell us someone else would come in a couple of days. Then another person would show up and so on. We had 3 different techs on 3 different days and they all complained about the previous installers work. From the MOMENT our system was up and running we knew there were issues. The cellular phone system they installed was not working correctly and the alarm would go off randomly. I would call and complain and they would tell me its our land line. ATT would come out and tell us there was nothing wrong with our landline. The other issue from the beginning was that smoke alarms would go off at random times with no provocation. ADT refused to come out and take care of these issues unless I agreed to a technician charging me a minimum of $143 for half hour and on from there. I argued that this was ridiculous since it was a brand new installation that had not worked correctly from the start. This argument went on for an entire year and kept getting escalated, the entire time we were without protection. Finally customer service decided to incur the cost of repair and sent someone out. It turned out that they had installed one system but were showing a different system all together, so the software wasn't working and that is why we had the alarms going off. They fixed that problem but when they looked at the DVR that they had given us, they told us it could only take 4 cameras and since we had owned it for a year there was nothing they could do for us. This went against what their salesperson had promised us. They also repaired the smoke alarm but it only started going off AGAIN. Now they want to charge me for the repair. They did credit us half of what we paid in services for the first year.
This company is rude, irresponsible and uncaring. They would not even give me a physical address for the company when I requested it so that I could make this complaint. They said they didn't give out that information. I have on several occasions requested a copy of our contract which they have refused to send to us. I would like to end our business arrangement with ADT with no further monetary obligations. I would like to contract with a reputable company that actually likes its customers and understands their importance.
I would never use this company again.

LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE
Today (9 Nov) around 12:00 am I received to alarms. I was sleeping so I did not hear them but my brother in law did. When I woke up, I saw 2 missed calls and 2 voicemail from ADT. I check my wife phone that is the 2nd contact and it had the same thing. When I called in the morning to speak to a representative and ask them why they did not called the police when none of the contacts answer the call, they decided to check what was the signal for. The representative told me that the 2 alarms they received was because of a breakup on the back door. He continue stating that he have no idea why they never called the police. I decided to cancel the service and told the representative to transfer me to the cancellation department. In there the other representative ask me if I wanyted to disconect because of this incident I told her that I have been a costumer for the past 2 yrs, paying the over price amount of 33.95 a month and when an alarm came to my house, they didnt even attempted to call the police when there was a "breakage" alarm. THIS IS UNNACEPTABLE!!! She instead of offer me something to convince me stay with the company like a courtesy visit to make sure everything in my system is good, or 1/2 % of my overprice monthly payment for the next yr or so, instead, she told me that the cancelation will be effective in 30 days. You guys have the worst customer service ever!!!
Please note that just because you guys received the pin number it is not an excuse for you for not calling the police. Someone could of had a gun in my head making me put the code. Receiving another signal at 8:00am saying that the equipment is malfunctioning after receiving a signal that someone breaked into my back door, (8 hours after the incident happened) is not a valid excuse for you not to call the police.
