Rip off, buyer beware
I want EVERYONE to pay attention to what I have to say here--because
YOU COULD BE THEIR NEXT VICTIM!!!
Advance Auto Parts Ripped Me Off!!!
After purchasing over 100 bucks in brake parts from their site (online) I was promised a $50 voucher (Gift Card) to use on my next online purchase.
A month later as promised, I got the $50 discount on my next order (seat covers) but had to return them because they didn't fit my truck--- I MUST point out that there was NOTHING on the online order form that posted what year, make & model the seat covers would fit. Just a listing for TRUCK SEAT COVERS.
OK. They didn't fit so I carefully put them back in the package and returned them--- Then I GOT NO CREDIT BACK !!! Yep, they literally RIPPED ME OFF!!! NO STORE CREDIT, NO GIFT CARD, NO ONLINE CREDIT, ZIP, ZERO, NADA-- NOTHING!!!
I called customer service who acknowleged that, "YES, WE SEE YOU RETURNED THE MERCHANDISE but you can't have credit back because there is this clause in the fine print of the voucher discount that states if any merchandise is returned it MAY not be refunded or given store credit????"
HAT!!!??? Repeat this---"...there is this clause in the fine print of the voucher discount that states if any merchandise is returned it MAY not be refunded or given store credit?"
WHY???
Until I receive full store credit for the cost of these seat covers---LOOK OUT WORLD--- I will YELL FROM THE ROOFTOPS AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS!!!

REBUILT ENGINE
Bought a rebuilt crate motor from advance.Spartin engine from texas sole builder for advance ( built in mexico).Anyway fired up engine lifters taped from day one, changed break in oil at 300 miles, magnet on oil plug had a inch of metal shavings on end, drove another 400 miles head started leaking.Called advance warrenty they wanted me to replace what was wrong myself, their resonce for lifter noise was to adjust note on a 4.3 you tourqe to spec not adjust like old days, Spartin tech ask if I readjusted them to says a lot for their techs.I felt that I should'nt have to work on a engine with less than 800 miles on it!!! I removed engine, they did send replacement.Checked tourqe of heads and lifters before installing 2 head bolts were loose as well as 1 lifter was not to tourqe.Got results today from builder they said its my fault that engine had metal in lifters, in main bearings bad enough that they were scuffed and water leaks were from my accessories installed.I had flushed all oil cooler lines before install. They claim it was the cooler that contaminated the motor(bullshit) The advance tech said almost every engine they warrenty is result of installer not builder.I've probably redone/rebuilt over 50 engines in my time, done several drag engine, All they talk to you as your an idiot or retarded. So their 3 year unlimited milage warrenty dos'nt stand good for much will only replace/repair or refund once then your screwed. Will never step foot in a Advance store again, , Buyer Beware

DISTRICT MANAGER
MY COMPLIANT IS WITH THE DISTRICT MANAGER JASON, AND THE FLOOR STAFF AT THE HAMPTON STORE. MY PRAYERS GOES OUT TO THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THAT STORE. FOR THE SIMPLE FACT OF THE STAFF HE CONSTANTLY HAS TO STAY BEHIND IN DOING THE WORK TASK THAT THEY ARE ASK TO DO, OVER AND OVER AS IF THEY'RE ON THE JOB FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE GENERAL MANAGER CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH, YET HE CAN'T PROVIDE OR RUN THE ENTIRE STORE. THE WORKERS UNDER HIM OBVIOUSLY FEELS THAT HE INSTRUCTIONS AND ORDERS TO THEM ARE MEANINGLESS. THEY STAND AROUND AND CONVERSATE WITH EACH OTHER (GOSSIP), SNACKING, OR JUST LEANING ON A WALL, NOT WORKING AS A TEAM BUT AGAINST EACH OTHER AND THE COMPANY. BABIES AND CHILDREN ARE NOT NEEDED IF YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN WHAT THEY MUST DO. GET SOME ADULTS THAT REALLY WANT TO WORK AND APPRECIATE WHAT HAPPENING WITH THE TEAM AND THE STORE! AS FOR JASON HE NEEDEDS TO DO BETTER HIMSELF INSTEAD OF VISITING THE STORE EVERY THREE TO FOUR MONTHS AND STOP PUTTING "ALL" THE FAULT ON HIS GM. IF YOU SET A GOOD EXAMPLE AND SUPPORT YOUR GM, THEN I AM SURE THE TEAM WILL AS WELL. IF YOUR TEAM SEES OR HEARS YOU SHOOT YOUR GM DOWN, THEN WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY WILL DO..SUPPORT YOUR STORE LEADER AND KNOW WHERE SOME OF THE FAULTS LIES! CHECK YOUR SALES STAFF/FLOOR STAFF AND I'M SURE YOU WILL FIND YOUR ANSWERS. EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE IN CHARGE, THAT'S WHY NO ONE WANTS TO LISTEN TO THE GM. AND AGAIN JASON YOU NEED TO SHAPE UP, AND JUST WATCH AND SEE WHAT HAMPTONS GM GO THROUGH WITH THE CREW AND YOUR STORE. PRAISE HIM, NOT BREAK HIM DOWN, BECAUSE YOU ARE DEFINITELY JUST AS BAD AS YOUR FLOOR STAFF WITH YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES! AGAIN MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE GENERAL MANAGER AT HAMPTON AND MAY HE GAIN AN APPRECIATIVE STAFF TO PULL WITH HIM AND NOT AGAINST HIM!

Faulty goods
You would reasonable expect a national retailer like Advance Auto Parts to sell reputable merchandise.
Clearly not with Advance Auto Parts. They do not give any warranty on the Victor 300 psi air-compressor and give no warning there is no warranty. Clearly they have no confidence in products they sell, or actualy know they have are a problem. Clearly Advance Auto Parts have no responsibility for many products they sell and no loyalty to their customers.
The lesson is simple. Do not trust Advance Auto Parts on any product. Check before buying there is a warranty and a reasonable time period. Or preferrably buy elsewhere.

Faulty goods - no warranty
You might reasonable expect a major national retailer to check they are selling reputable merhcandise.
Not so with Advance Auto Parts. They have no confidence in some products they sell and refuse any warranty without telling the customer.
I purchased a Victor 300 PSI air compressor, recommended to me for car tiers by the store clerk. After 3 uses it broke down. Advance Auto Parts refused to replace or refund and then stated they give no warranty on the product. And they did not care if I posted this complaint.
Clearly Advance Auto Parts sell merchandise in which they have no confidence. In many countries that is illegal.
The lesson is simple. Do not buy from Advance Auto parts unless they confirm a warranty in writing. Preferrably do not buy from such an unreptuable retailer as Advacne Auto Parts.

Untruthful Managet
I'm Ronnie, I have a complaint about the manager at the E. South Boulevard in Montgomery, Alabama. I applied for a job at this store on the 7th of December, 2009. I went through the entire procedure, application, drug screening, interview twice, final paperwork. When the final paperwork was completed I was offered the job, I accepted the job.
On December 16, 2009, I received a phone call from Corey, the store manager, advising me there was a problem with my driving record that will not allow me to drive for the company. At first I thought he was kidding. I just retired from a job with over 20 years of driving their vehicles, I had an assigned vehicle that stayed with me everyday. He never told me anything different before he hung the phone up, so I was concerned what was on my driving record. I called DMV here and I was advised there wasn't anything wrong with my driving record. The next day, December 17, 2009, I went and paid to get a hard copy of my record which displayed there wasn't anything wrong with my record. I went over to the store to give Corey a copy of this report, he wasn't there. I gave a copy to the on site manager and advised him to give this to Corey.
I went back to the store on December 17, 2009 to talk to Corey about this information I left for him about my driving record. He told me "they" I don't know who they are, told him I only had a licence since 2008. This was the date I renewed my license. I have been driving since I was 16 years old. He also told me "they" wanted me to get a copy of my license since I was 16 years old. I told him I have gotten everything DMV had to give to display my driving record, I wasn't going back to get anything else. I advised him to get whoever " they are" to get their proof of the problem with my driving record. Corey advised me I was hired just waiting to get this problem resolved, and he would call my by Friday, December 18, 2009 and tell me the results.
I waited all day on the 18th for Corey to call me. I went to the store again about 2:00 pm, he was gone and I never received a call from him. I waited over the weekend for him to call me, I never got that call. I went to the store again on December 21, 2009, the date I was told would be my starting date. When I drove up in the parking lot, he was going out of the door with a customer. He came back in the store, both times I looked at him, he never looked at me. This was the first time he never looked at me since I applied for this job. He would speak to me while assisting customer, but this time he wouldn't look at me. Finally he came to me and attempted to talk to me again at the counter, I asked him if we could go to the office to talk. He told me they made a decision to do something different. I don't know what that meant, he wouldn't tell me anything other than I didn't have the job.
I don't know if you all know what you have in Corey as a manager, but I think you should look very close at him. He wasted my time by having me to go through this process giving him my personal information, my past employment (Law Enforcement), my bank information, etc. He didn't have the professionalism to give me a call before I went to the store to advise me I didn't have the job. I requested all of the paperwork I had written on during this process. I had an assigned number and everything.
I think Corey was uncomfortable with my abilities as an Auto Mechanic. I don't know why he wouldn't want to have a person with this kind of experience to better serve their customers.
Please let me know what you think about this. I'll come back to check the status.

Do not deal with them
I own a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. I have had this vehicle for 4 years now with no problems except the windhield wiper motor going bad. I called around and Advance Auto Parts had a Cardone rebuilt wiper motor with a limited/lifetime warranty at the lowest price of $94.00. The warranty was better then anyone else was offering, so I figured I would get the motor from them. What a MISTAKE that was. This was not one of the hardest repairs I've ever done, but it was harder then I thought it would be. The motor was tucked up under the firewall with hardly enough clearance to remove it. I replace the motor with the rebuilt and everything worked fine for 8 weeks. All of the sudden they started to malfunction in the same manner as the old motor I replaced. I have a friend who owns a very large auto reair business. I called him and explained what the wipers were doing. He does a lot of maintainance on the county & township police cars. They are also Crown Victoria's, he told me that he has changed so many of them that he has lost count. He continued to tell me that the cause of this problem was the electronic control module on the wiper motor malfunctioning. The module by itself couldn't be changed, the entire motor had to be changed as I did. After talking to my friend I went online and found that the National Highway Safety had a service bulletin for this car for "Uncommanded Wiper Operation". I contacted the local Ford dealer explained the problem I was having and asked if there was a recall for this vehicle, for the problem I was having. They told me there was no recall and they were not aware of this type of problem with my vehicle. I decided to get another wiper motor and see if maybe this was the problem. There was no problem getting another wiper motor from Advance. I replaced the motor again and it seemed to be alright, but then a little over a week later it started doing the same thing all over again. I stopped by another Ford dealer on my way home one day and the service & parts managers were very helpful. They shared every bit of information that both of them were aware of. The parts manager looked at how many wiper motors they had sold and also the multifunction switch as well. They sold more multifunction switches then wiper motors. Having owned a couple Taurus's in the past I had to change the multifunction switch on them as well. I figured I might as well try changing this too. I did replace the multi function switch at a cost of $100.00. I had the same problem after changing the Multi function switch. I again called Advance Auto Parts got another wiper motor, replaced it and next day same problem. At this point I had enough of this. I called Advance and told the manager I was bringing this motor back the next day and wanted a refund. Which he said would be no problem. I then called NAPA Auto Parts and ordered a rebuilt wiper motor from them. On my way to return the wiper motor I decided to stop at a Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer on the way, to talk to them about this problem. The parts dept. there was very helpful. The parts man told me a couple of times when they couldn't wait to order the part from Ford. They tried using remanufactured motors from Advance, and they had the same problems with them as I did. He told me they use nothing but new from Ford now. I explained I had already ordered on from NAPA and if I had a problem with theres I would then order one from them. I then went to Advance to return the motor and the manager I talked to the day before was off that day. I had to go through the whole story with this older women who worked there now. That wasn't bad enough but then she had to add her two cents by saying "you have another problem, all of these parts can't be defective". After all of these problems with there parts and now I need her opinion and attitude. I told her to just give me the rufund, that is all I wanted. I got the motor from NAPA and was talking to the parts man there about there reman. parts. He told me that they have had no problems with there Reman. Wiper Motors that they have sold. He stated that the company that rebuilds there's test the electronics as well as the motor itself. In concluding I would just like to say I install the reman. from NAPA about 6 weeks ago and so far everything is fine. I truely hope this is the end of this problem. I tried to contact Advance Auto Parts Home Office through there website. I sent a e-mail to them and explained the problem. I received a response from a 2nd party that handles there complaints. Stating that my complaint were received and will be turned in to the proper department. It has been over 6 weeks now and I still haven't heard from them yet. From all that I am hearing and reading about Advance Auto Parts this company is out of control. Actually it reminds me of another store that I have had dealings with. That would be Home Depot, that is how I got treated by them as well. Advance Auto Parts should make there slogan "The Home Depot of autoparts. I appologize for the length of this complaint. I will never deal with Advance Auto Parts again.

Coupon Usage
Advance Auto Parts (AAP) denied a coupon to be used on a sale priced item. Coupon clearly did not say "not acceptable" on sale priced items. Called Home Office. Talked to two CSR's and they said the store was wrong, they should have accepted, and the store manager would call. Nothing happened so I filed a complaint with the NC Attorney General.
NC Attorney General demands a response in 10 days. 30 days go by and AAP responds. They say they don't have to accept ANY coupon on a sale priced item. Manager decision. Any item on sale is already an "offer" and coupons can't be used with any other offer. (Isn't any item offered for sale just that - an offer?)
AAP Home Office responded to the NC Attorney general late and said tuff - we aren't going to honor. For the customer inconvenience we'll send him a $5.00 gift card. Who wants this...I'm returning the goods.
TAKE HEED - AAP coupons aren't worth the paper they are printed on. I don't pay full retail for anything they sell as it's already over priced. Coupons are the only way to go, so know this before you get into a fight with a cashier. And if you call AAP Customer Service, they will take your contact info but NEVER call you back.
Be warned.

warranty scam
I bought a a/c compressor from advance auto parts and all the recommended parts needed to warranty the compressor in case the compressor went bad. I don't know how to install an a/c compressor so I took it to a local recommended shop and had an ASE Certified Mechanic install it only to find out it was faulty. Their warranty department at their corporate headquarters came up with everything they could think of, blaming me then the mechanic not to pay for the install. Then they came up with another twist saying they only pay a set rate if you have something installed and thats all they do. They really don't seem to care especially when you get to the corporate level and you're treated so badly. All the money over the years spent at Advance Auto Parts now seems like it was just waisted. I wish I could take it all back and go somewhere else that cared about customers and sold quality products.
