overcharge on int. rate
Opened an account appx 10/15/07. have never been late with A payment.
Interest rate on appx 4500.00 was 3.99%. Why I took this Company. I am still getting this interest rate on this amt
My oter balance same acct. at present is being billed 27.18% 0n appx 1400.00 & 32.18% 0n Appx6, 600.00 was 7.99%
This is nothing but pure theft. I really hope someone really knows how to bring this company to Justice. Sure can't get anyone there on the phone that can be talked to other than the answering person .

Credit Card interest Rate
Increases in interest rates, started at 7.99% they slowly increase rates, than stating changes in credit rating they have to increase rate to 34%! unless you opt out. They stated that we paid late, (Never had a late payment), we did not pay enough over the min. payment, (we always paid 2-4 times min. payment).
We opted out, cancelled the card. Advanta Bank reported to Equifax we were cancelled by them.
I would highly recommend not doing business with this Bank, we filed a complaint with the FDIC and of course they can not do anything regarding credit cards.
Additionally, to Advanta's advantage, the great state of Utah where Advanta is located, does not have any restrictions or caps on interest rates a bank can charge on credit cards. Now you know why so many credit cards are located in Utah!

Bad service
As a small business company we have had a Advanta Credit Card for over a year now. Interest rate: 7.99%. Payments made on time and most of the time for over the minimum amount.
Advanta increased interest our rate over 300% in less than 31 days.
Plus! Plus!Their statement now demands payment by not only the due date, but... get this by noon time on the due date!
When did we ever have control over the delivery of our U.S. Post Office. ?
Would recommend all Advanta credit card holders hold Advanta hostage on this move. Reasonable increases in rates can be expected is circumstatnces indicate.
But to us guys who play by the rules... lets our voices be heard loud and clear if this happens to you.

intrest rate hike
Advanta Bank Corp took us also! Eight years with them, , NEVER late, , let
me repeat, no late payments, , in eight years. Most on the card was just a little over 1/2 of the credit limit, , went from 7.9% to 25.9% in one month.
Someone should stop this practice (hello Washington/Raleigh!!!).
I didn't borrow the money for 25.9%, I borrowed the money for 7.9%!
Stay away from Advanta Bank Corp!!

Overcharged
Increasing my interest rate more than 3x the amount is unheard of! What Advanta is being allowed to do is not only unbelievable but should be illegal. I asked several supposed 'managers' during my 56 min conversation if they were in the United States, and they said YES. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't speaking with India! So there was no mistake as to what the hell is going on here. They were fully aware of the small businesses closing, retirements vanishing, and homes being ripped out from under the average poor working slob. And yet, they still maintained 'that there is nothing they can do'.
I don't usually wish ill-fate upon anyone, but people who can stay employed at a place of business that practices screwing others without looking back should rot-in-hell! I hope they understand Karma, Karma, Karma...

account closed
I had an Advanta credit card (with cash back) for my small business . The balance was payed off in June of 2008. I did not use the card since then thinking that everything is ok. On Oct 13, 2008 I got a letter from them saying" As a normal part of our account management, we routinely review our accounts and evaluate the credit status of our cardholders. As a result of our review, we have closed your account effective immediately." They closed my account without even giving me the earned cash back on my acc. not to mention the balance was zero, I have very good credit, but now they decided to ruin it closing my account. I called and I asked for written statement with the specific reason of why they closed my acc. On Oct. 30, 2008 I got another letter stating:" We closed your account to new transactions effective 10/13/2008 as you requested." I never requested it! Every time I try to call and get an answer to all of this I get customer service in India. They can't help and have no clue what's going on anyway. I would like some help figure things out! Very frustating dealing with company, do not advise anybody getting a business card with them.

Unethical Business Practices
I have had an account with Advanta for slightly over two years. I signed up under the intro rate of 2.99% (life of balance transfer) - I never charged anything on the card other than what I transferred to it initially. I have excellent credit and have NEVER been late on this card. In May of this year I made an electronic payment which was 'kicked back' three days later due to insufficient bank routing #. I called and the lady told me they had a 'system glitch' over the weekend (I made the payment on Friday) and not to worry she would fix this to where I wasn't late and wouldn't owe a late fee. "Great!", I thought to myself, and went on about my life. In October of this year my husband just happened to notice my statement and that the rate was a whopping 20.31% !! O -- M -- G!! I have never, ever paid anything remotely like that in my entire life! I called Advanta and expressed my disgust and told them that what they were doing was unethical and to reduce my rate! They declined. I was carrying a $7, 000.00 balance - Out of sheer disgust I found a way to pay the entire balance off by the next due date to avoid such unreasonable finance charges. I told them to CLOSE out my account and to kiss off, essentially. Here is where it gets GOOD. Listen to this CAREFULLY FOLKS... SO I paid the ENTIRE BALANCE OFF, IN FULL, LAST MONTH at the outrageous rate of 20.31%. I received a bill TODAY in the amount of $171.14 AT THE INTEREST RATE OF 37.18% !!! Are you *&##!@# kidding me?? So, I called "Lana" who advised me that yes, they did increase the rate LAST MONTH and sent me a notice THAT I NEVER RECEIVED and told me I missed the "opt out" grace period. The reasons they gave for the increase were totally bogus. I have a 820 beacon score and have never charged anything on the card since I transferred the balance TWO YEARS AGO. This company is absolutely the WORST I have ever delt with. Attorneys, media, whoever, contact me. I can verify all of the above stated. To consumers - BEWARE! I don't know where to go from here, or even if all the reporting in the world (to various agencies) will make a difference but SOMETHING MUST BE DONE. I didn't even know a $38% interest rate EVEN EXISTED! The most I have ever paid on a credit card at any point in my life was 9%! They jacked my rate up after sabotaging a late payment and jacked it up again AFTER I closed the account! If I didn't have to pay off the $7, 000 balance I'd hire an attorney just out of principle! breach of contract
They gave me a 32, 000 line of credit at 5.9% per life on a transfer and paid 5% of the transfer. I never missed a payment and sometimes make large payments as an additional payment. I have a very high credit score. They just changed my rate to 32%. I called to see what the problem is and they said that MY circumstances has changed and that is reason for rate change. Consumers beware of this bank. It is dishonorable on agreements it makes and I will support any class action attorney who wants to take this case. Apparently, they have done this to many good people and we should not allow financial instututions to act this way.

Interest rate gouge
Interest rate gouge. They upped my interest rate from 7.99 to 27.18 and 37.18 under the guise of not reading fine print. Would not lower it after a phone call. Have never been late or missed a payment on anything. Credit score in the 700's
Please pass the word to boycott these people and put them out of business.

unfair rate hike
One of my credit card banks, Advanta, has just increased my rate from 7.99% to 32.18%. They did this without any advance notice, it just appeared on my statement. I have not been in default or even late with this bank or any other monthly card payment, or for that matter with any of my business or personal utilities. I of course have called them to see just what was going on. They only tell me I am now a "higher risk" than I was before. When I ask for specifics, they say well it could be a number of things and then recite about a half a dozen of items it "might be". When I ask for specifics, they tell me "I don't have that information and even if I did I couldn't tell you". I seem to have no where to turn. I keep asking for someone to talk with about this, all they have done is furnish a fax number to "customer service", which of course I have written to and now am waiting for a response, which may or may not come before my next payment is due. So, I am now forced to do one of the following: pay their loan shark rates (which I don't think I do and could not afford to do for any length of time), or go into default by not paying which of course will cause them to further increase my rate (which I then definitely couldn't pay). This option would also adversely effect my credit rating and cause my other card rates to immediately escalate.
This isn't right...this isn't fair. I would recommend you NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK. SOONER OR LATER THEY WILL DO THIS TO YOU!
