my credit score hovers around 700 and after much research, approximately 2 years ago I took advantage of a promotional offer 0%on balance transfers for 15 months.following the promotional period the interest rate on the balance of my account was 7.9%. Following approximately 6 months payments at a 7.9% rate, without notice or provocation by interest rate was raised to over 35% -- I was shocked and could not believe that any rate that I was even legal! The problem was that I had not been closely scrutinizing my payments and it was several months before I realized I was the victim of this scam -- following much protest (generally savvy in this regard), I took out a personal loan and paid off the balance -- but not before I was victimized for approximately $1000!
If anyone has a legitimate option for recourse -- please contact me [email protected] I trust there is a better resolution than a lawsuit that might result in token damages -- NPR's "Marketplace" had a short story on this fiasco -- but when I contacted them a while back they did not seem to have bona fide suggestions for recourse -- if there is a legitimate option for recourse available someone should contact the show to get the word out. Thank you
