On Feb 4, 2011 I called AFNI INC. to inquire about some collection notice for $265.31. After waiting 26mins I finally got a rep who was sooo rude to me after I declined giving my SS info anything about me. I then called later that afternoon and spoke to ANDY who again after telling him I was not giving up any info was RUDE and told me that "if I do not resolve this matter it will show up on my credit report" WTF.. I then asked to have the number to this Verizon IONC who claims I owe them, he said they don't have the numbers to the companies that hire them for their services...What a CROCK ..I asked for a suprv who also confirmed they have no number and that VERIZON NEW YORK INC IS JUST VERIZON ...folks that is a LIE ...don't give them any info about yourself and request to be removed off the mailer...Deidra B

Today I found a collection in my credit report from a collection agency called Afni, Inc. alleging I owed $50.00 from 6 years ago - 2002. Verizon has provided my phone service for the past 10 years and I don't believe I have ever missed a payment. They never once mentioned I owed them a cent from 1998 and even I overpaid my bills to an even dollar amount. I had no problem ever with Verizon. in 2005 when I received the letter of collection from AFNI I contacted them, When I called Afni, Inc, a particularly rude young female told me she wasn't interested in anything I had to say, while I was asuring her that Verizon conferm that I owe nothing other than the last bill, And if there was any charge it would appear in my regular statement during the period AFNI Inc. claiming (2002 - 2004 ) with no exact date. Also at least my telephone service would affected if I have any unpaid charges, while the same line and same company. So with her mean way of communicating I hung up and disregard the collection claim as advised by Verison. Now about 4more years they came back and hurt my credit report. I totaly disagree to pay off any false claim even if it's only One dollar.
I'm sending this complaint because I'm sure that I feel I'm not the only one. I hope you can take the right action to protect myself and the public from these fraudulant acts.

I just recieved a bill June 2008 from Afni Inc. collection agency stating that I own Verizon $325. I call Verizon and someone used my social security number to set up this account. It was a number and address in a different state. I have never had Verizon service before! I don't know how this could have happened. Afni is no help at all, when I called them they said they would send out a fraud packet but instead sent another copy of the bill. I finally contacted Verizon and I need a police report plus tons of other document just to prove my innocents.

Attempting to collect a debt from over 11 years ago. Inever had a phone with Verizon Florida. I have lived in another state for 11years.This is ridiculous and after 7 years it should not even be happening. According to the credit bureau there should not be any thing like this on my report.

Once again Afni has struck again. I received a notice that I have a past due Bell Atlantic bill ($263.40) for a telephone number that I never had. I have been at the same number for 20 years and Bell Atlantic have never been a provider here. To make matters worse they want you to enter the last 4 digits of your SS# when you go to their website. They don't need that information in order to pay a bill. Can we ever stop these people from ruining our credit with these fraudulent collections...
