Fraud and cheating
5 or 6 years ago I found an error on my credit report. Verizon Florida was claiming that I owed them $169 + for an account I never had. I disputed it with every credit reporting agency that showed it in their records. The credit agencies always claimed that it was proven to be valid. All the while, I never received any proof of any kind regarding this. This weekend, I received the first and only 'debt collection' notice from Afni. I researched my rights regarding this invalid debt that doesn't even belong to me. The statute of limitations ran out 6 years ago!!! The debt is supposedly from 2/1999. I sent a formal letter via certified mail with return receipt. I hope I didn't make a mistake by signing it. I don't know if they would go so far as to try and forge a document, but you never know. I know they won't sue because that would be throwing good money away. I'd love to sue them, though. They put a blemish on my credit for the last several years.

Fraud and scam
I just received a collection notice for an alleged phone bill from QWEST. This is a totally bogus collection attempt for a phone number from 7 years ago. I have read other such postings on this site. How can these people get by with this? I'll be checking my credit reports and if this is posted on them, will write to get it removed.

Awful company
Checking my mail after a long day at work I found an official looking letter from Afni, Inc with large bold print 'COLLECTION NOTICE'. My first reaction was to just scream, I don't have any past due debt! But then I tell myself 'let's be adult about this' so I attempted to figure out what this is all about. I spent 21 minutes on hold waiting to speak to a live person, finally gave up and turned to the internet!
The notice I received stated this is a debt owed to Quest, with a reported phone number that I haven't a clue where they came up with it, I have had the same phone number for a number of years and THIS IS NOT IT! There is no listed service dates or an address for service to this number.
I am tired of having to take my time, which is limited, to figure out what is behind all of the mail consumers receive nowadays. It is stressful, time consuming and half the time you never talk to a live person. I am frustrated that this type of thing should be allowed to happen. I will be reporting this to my local attorney general and postal service as well as Quest.
I thank all of you that have contacted this site to bring Afni, Inc to the consumers attention. What can we do as consumers? Just what you have done, help others to become aware and put these thieves out of business!!

Fraudulent Collection Notice
We received a collections notice from AFNI indicating we owed a balance of over $500 for an auto accident my wife had over a year ago. The troubling thing was that she didn't have an auto accident over a year ago or for the past 20 years for that matter. I called to see what was going on and they wanted me to verify contact information. I told her I would not provide them any information until she provided information about the accident and she promptly hung up. Total scam. I am notifying the police and insurance commission in our state and I urge anyone else who is scammed by these bandits to do the same.

amp'd mobile
I just received a bill for cell phone service for AMp'd mobile. I've never heard of this company. the bill is in my maiden name for an address I have never lived at.. in a state I have never lived in. This is total crap! I don't know where they get this stuff. If I ever hear from them again I'm calling an attorney.

Fradulent Bills
I recieved two bills from afni, stating that I owed Alltel for two accounts. One stated I owed $1064.44, the other $488.40. When I called they told me that they did not have the dates these accounts were opened. When I called Alltel, they have no record of either account. While I was looking for afnis' website I found these complaints!! I can not believe these people. They need to be stopped!! how can we fight these people???

cingular
What is it with CINGULAR I just got a bill from this collection saying I owe Cigular $65.95 but, afni Balance due $75.84. I had Cigular about 8 years ago I had settled out. Then year later a different collection angcy saying I owed them money it seem every year or so collections are saying I owe them money which now AT&T own them now. I;m getting really tired of these collections. The bad thing about this they like to wait a few years and scare you then you can't find your proof cause it was missed placed then when you call the company you had paid to the can't open your file. How can you put, a stop to this hassle? Thanks, Paula
