Phony collection notice!
I received a phony collection notice from afni for Verizon phone service (which I've never had) in California over 10 years ago. I have been waiting on the phone for a Verizon billing agent to verify that I have no outstanding bill from 1997 but now that the wait has exceeded 45 minutes, am giving up. Is Verizon in cahoots with these scammers and con artists? One has to wonder.
An even more compelling question: Where is the US Department of Justice when the consumer is being victimized by these thieves...

settlement offer
THIS COMPANY CONTACTED ME ON A BILL FROM 1997 ON A PHONE BILL. COULD NOT GIVE ME THE PHONE NUMBER ON THE ACCOUNT. I JUST WASTN'T PAYING ON SOMETHING THAT NO WAY COULD BE MINE BUT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO WORRIED IT WAS A SCAM. THANKS

A collection in my name?
I have reviewed a recent copy of my credit report and found out that my name is in collection with you guys. I don't know what for I have never been in collection with anyone before. The amount on my credit report says $90+ that AFNI is trying to collect and there's no information about anything about it in my credit report besides the Name AFNI and how much is in collection. I hoping you can shed some light on the matter.

Collection notice 8 years old!
I received a collection notice from AFNI for a Bell Atlantic account from 8 years ago. First off I never had the number when I lived in NY and second of all I paid all my bills when I moved out of the state. The person I contacted @ AFNI was also rude and was asking me who I knew in New Jersey because I was having my bills forwarded there. This is absurd! I eventually hung up on them. Something has to be done about this. I forwarded all my mail from NY to Kansas 8 years ago... why didn't I receive the bill then!

attempting to collect on paid Alltel bill
Afni has reported to my credit bureau a fraudulent debt that was paid to Alltel. Every time I dispute they just reage it to make it look like it is a current default. AFNI ignores all my correspondence that has proof that this was paid to Alltel in full. They have ruined my credit! They need to be stopped.
This lawfirm is looking for victims to proceed with a class action on AFNI. I just contacted them.

Fraudulant AFNI Verizon Account on Credit Report
I found that I have a fradulant account listed on my Equifax Credit Report. The creditor seems to be Verizon, the phone number has a 201 area code and I have no idea where that would be a valid, certainly not here, in Everett, Washington! The collection agency is listed as AFNI and it seems to have been opened in 10/2007 YET is listed as a Closed Account. I am furious! This is the ONLY item listed on my Credit Report! Please make these people STOP scamming and HELP u;s to clear our good names!

AFNI Collections/ Never Resided at Addy, or had that #
I got a letter from this "collections agency" Friday afternoon stating that I owed Verizon North Inc. a grand whopping total of $2137.93 from a phone number that "I" had in 1998, yet this is the first that I've ever heard of this supposed bill.
So I called them to let them know that 1. I never resided at the address in question, nor the state in which the bill was run up, 2. That I was 17, and moved from MI to NC in 1993 3. The house they are speaking about was torn down when I was SIX long before the bill was run up in 1999.
They told me that they wanted copies of my NC Id, and now my PA ID......Ok, so NOT going to happen! They said that since "someone" used my information to set up this account, I still owe them the money........
I need to ask, what kind of phone company lets a phone bill at a residence get to over $2Grand without shutting the service off??
How do I get them to remove my name from their collections????
I seriously need to get this resolved ASAP!!!!

Fraud and cheating!
Today I received a bill from AFNI collecting $40.00 for a debt that according to them I owe Verizon from 10 years ago. I have been a customer of Verizon for 15 years and have paid every bill I owed to them. When I called the number on the letter I was treated very rudely by Adam and was threatened to make a payment or else I would get in a lot of trouble. I told him I would not give in to his demands and would be disputing this with the BBB and the credit report agencies. Oddly enough, while investigating this company I came across this website and was blown away by the amount of similar complaints.

Fraudulent attempt to collect
Just so you all know I received a letter today from Afni, it says.
"This letter is to inform you that we have investigated your dispute related to the referenced account. Based on the investigation this account has been closed. Afni, will take no farther collection action."
So, once they couldn't provide me with the 13 yr old phone bill, they had to close the account. Make sure EVERYONE sends in the proper paperwork to dispute the claims.

Scam and cheating!
I just received a bill from Afni stating that I owe for a phone bill from 1992-93. I never had a phone when I lived in Ohio and the address that they have listed for me is not one that I lived at. The scarey thing is that they have my SS#!!! I have called them a few times but get no where w/ them. When I went on line to dispute this they wanted more personal info. I am not going to give that to them since I think that they are the ones committing the fraud not anyone else. They said I could call FTC but when I contacted them they said they do not investigate, that they would send the info to Afni so they could investigate fraud. Well once again I do not want Afni to have that info because I believe they are the fraudulent ones!!! The other thing I wonder is if they have my SS# and if this was a legit bill then why did it take so long to contact me. I have not been in Ohio since 1994 and like I said earlier I NEVER had a phone there!!!
