I will let all of my friends and relatives know about the horrible experience that I had at AfterHours Formalwear
On June 2007 we went to rent tuxedos for my wedding.A young associate approached to help us and work out a package for my wedding. Was quoted $70 total plus taxes for each party member. He mentioned that it was all that each of them would pay. I went ahead and paid the charge that I owed on my tuxedo. On 7-13-07 one of my groomsmen went to get fitted for his tuxedo and was charged about $120. My groomsmen called me and told me that he had paid more than what I had told him. I called the tuxedo place later that day and explain to them the situation and they told me to come in the next day and speak to the manager. I went in the next day and was told by the manager that there was an additional charge of about 40 for the accessories. I explained to him that his sales associate had failed to notified about this additional charge. That I would had not care about the additional charge if I would of had been informed about it at the time of registering my wedding there. I asked to speak to his district manager and he said that he couldnt give me his number that he would call him and then give me a call back. When he did call me back he said that his district manager said that we had to pay for the additional charge and to come in to see how much it would be. I decided to cancel the rentals and demanded a full refund for me and my groomsmen who had paid in full for the tuxedo. However the manager said that there was a $20 cancelation fee. However how it is possible that I stil have to pay for the horrible service that they have to offer and for not training their staff correctly. When my sister went to get the refund they told her that they were going to charge the $20 late fee because his corporate had told him to do that since the prices were posted in an 8 by 10 frame in the wall. So since the beginning when I went to acquire the tuxedos they should of told me to look at the wall for the prices instead of quoting me the wrong amount. My both sisters are getting marry in 2008 and let me tell you that they will not be renting from your company. I am under so much stress to have to deal with unprofessional people. The manager was of no help instead made it seem like I was ignorant for not looking at the frame which was never pointed out by his staff. Trusth me that I will let all of my friends and relatives know about the horrible experience that I had at AfterHours Formalwear in Glendale, CA store 826.

Poor customer service, incompetence
My son who lives in LA was married in St. Pete Beach, FL. Measurements for the groomsmen were taken all over the country at after hours facilities. No one had a pleasant experience with it. Two days before the wedding, we found out that the ring bearer's tux ( which had been forgotten and had to be FedExed in) did not fit. Also the tux for the father of the bride was wrong. The brother of the bride had a shirt that didn't fit. During all of this, we were treated with total disdain by the staff at the Clearwater store. From what I have heard from the wedding party members, they received much the same treatment at stores all over the country.
One young man who was a guest at the wedding got measured in Manhattan. The same day, he decided to purchase a tuxedo elsewhere. He called the store that day and was told that the only way he could get a refund of the total amount which had already been charged to him, was to appear in person in the Clearwater, FL store.
I would never recommend this store to anyone.

Late fees
My sons was recently married in Reading ,Pa there were 11 tuxes rented from After Hours Formalwear at the price of $158.98 each ($1748.89). After the wedding night 4 groomsmen and my husband left to come back to Michigan leaving all the tuxes at the brides Fathers house to be taken back the next day. Somehow 5 tuxes fell behind the sofa and were not returned. After Hours waited 14 days to notify my husband and to this day still has not sent out all the notices on the tuxes being late. The day we got our notice in the mail from the corporate office we called the in laws and told them they were missing. They found them and returned them immediately to the store. After Hours informed us that there would be a $10.00 per day fee on each tux ($750.00). My husband called to explain the situation and was told by the first person he talked to that there was nothing that she could do (so why does she even get to answer the phone in the complaint department) and he would have to wait and talk to her supervisor. When she finally called back there was nothing that she could do either. Its seems a little funny to me that when you look up their web site they don't even have an email for the company. Feel free to check yourself. What I want to know is how come it took them 14 days to send a notice ( and several groomsmen still have not gotten their notice yet) when they had my phone number and could have cleared this up in one day?????? You do the math, is it really worth it ? Go but a suit! PS make sure you check the return policy!

My second and the last experience
This was my second experience with After Hours Formalwear and will be the LAST time. Both times were with the Smith Haven Mall (Long Island) store. Last summer, rented a tux as part of my best friend's wedding. Wrong jacket came in, vest didn't fit. After 3 trips back that time, they finally got it right. I figured it had to be a fluke. I just had a wedding this weekend and rented a tux from the same store again. I told the person taking my measurements about the problems I had last time, and he assured me there would be "no issues". Wedding was 2PM Saturday in Massapequa. I went in Friday afternoon to pick it up, only to wait on line for 1 hour before anyone helped me (there were about 10 people ahead of me - and at least 5 of the 10 had issues with their order). There were only two people working. The room was one large complaint box from the customers - I was flabergasted with the amount of people with problems.
When they got to me and brought my tux out, the Jacket didn't fit across the chest, nor did the vest. The woman helping me told me she could have a replacement the next day around 1:30-2:00pm. I explained to her that I had a wedding in Massapequa (about 40 minutes away) at 2pm, I asked for overnight delivery to my house, they refused (I even offered to pay for it myself). The only option they gave me was to pick it up at the Massapequa store, which I reluctantly did. I went Saturday to the Massapequa store - the Smith Haven store could learn a thing or two. They were polite, professional, and adequately staffed.
I will NEVER do business with After hours again, and will encourage my friends with upcoming weddings NOT to use them based on these poor experiences.
