I am AFRAID OF THESE PEOPLE. We refinanced our home in an emergency situation in 2004 with Ameriquest, who WAS sued in Class Action for consumer fraud (we found that out after they sold our mortgage to CitiResidential, and we received letters from the Texas Attorney General).
Two months after refinancing our home of 26 years, my husband had two heart attacks, and two months after that, I had a bleed stroke that left me paralyzed and disabled in a wheelchair before I was 50. It was a 2-year fixed rate, then an ARM, and after Ameriquest sold our loan to CitiResidential, THEY sold it to these horrible people at AHMSI.
Starting in August, 2009, I tried to get a loan remodification because President Obama had began the government program and we were struggling with my medical problems. Every time I sent the required information, they wouldn't contact me back, then claimed too much time had passed and we had to start over. I kept calling and calling. Then they said, when I called again at the beginning of January, 2010, that we don't qualify, because our income ratio doesn't meet the guidelines - what? My husband makes less than $21, 000/yr and I am on SSDI!!! No one has ever contacted me about the "traditional modification" that their "modification" department claimed that we "might" qualify for.
Oh, by the way, we have NEVER missed a mortgage payment, but since the stroke, I have to pay later in the month because that is when I get my SSDI check, based on my birthday. They do NOT apply the payment on the date that I tell them to, which makes the loan "appear" late!
AHMSI just tacks on more and more fees, refuses to let me make my payments online, held money in suspense for no reason, and now is charging for sending letters out WHEN WE ARE NOT EVEN 30 days late!
Any help or suggestions, appreciated. My husband is having open heart surgery tomorrow, on Feb.1, 2010, and I am sad. We bought this house new in 1977, it is where we raised our kids, and I am so frustrated about worrying over losing it now - to crooks in another country.
