Credit card fraud
I would like to know how Air Tran can secure me a credit card through Barclay, charge me 30 bucks, and now I recieve demands notices for payment. I never asked for a credit card, never recieved one, but they sure figured out how to defraud a person into one.

Bad service
We missed a flight from NY LaGuardia Airport because of extra heavy traffic as a result of the NYC Police closing the Throgs Neck Bridge due to an abandoned car which could have been a threat.
The person at the Air Tran did not comprehend the problem and neither he or his supervisor were helpful in finding an alternative flight.
We found a flight on Delta without their help and they now refuse to refund our fare for the flight we missed.

Worst ever
The first class of Air Tran Airways is a cruel joke. They allow all passengers to use the first class bathroom so you are sitting in a seat next to a line of passengers, crying babies, and smelly overused bathroom throughout the flight. The flight attendants are rude and un accomodating, and could care less about any of your needs. I would have rather flown in coach at any price then to be subjected to this even at their reduced rate. They have a total disregard for customer service and would not fly with them again if they offered a free ticket!!!

Horrible Airline, not helpful at desk
I've been traveling all over the world since I was a small boy and I never had such a bad experience with airlines until a couple of weeks ago when I flew Air Tran.
My flight was scheduled to leave at 2:45 p.m. for Atlanta, and stopping for 1 hour before departing to Columbus, OH. The people working at the gate made us board the plane as scheduled only to tell us once inside the aircraft that the flight had been delayed for 2 hours due to bad weather. Understandable. They made us get off the plane and wait on the gate. Once 2 hours passed they made us board AGAIN only to tell us 40 minutes later after waiting inside the plane that there was a mechanical problem with the plane and they did not know when they were going to depart. They made us leave the plane ONCE MORE and at this point everyone was angry and making a line to speak with the airline representatives at the gate.
Once I got to the counter (45 minutes later) they told me that there were no more flights to Columbus from Atlanta and I would have to leave the following day in the morning. They made me lose 1 day from work, refused to give me a partial refund or pay for a hotel since I live in Miami and had no way to go back and did not even let me complain to the supervisor.
WORST AIRLINE EVER!

Charged Twice for our flight; "oversize baggage fees"
On April 25 2008 we flew Air Tran from Minneapolis MN, to get to our vacation destination, Orlando, FL. We had a connecting flight in Atlanta, GA. Upon arrival at MSP airport we were told that there was still an outstand balance of $440 for our 4 tickets.
I was upset... "How could this be? The flights were booked 1 1/2 months in advance through Expedia.com" I had a credit card statement showing the purchase price of 4 round trip tickets to Orlando, FL. charged to my credit card." We tried to tell the rep our trip was paid for and how could 4 round trip tickets to FL be close $1320 when the tickets we booked were $210 per ticket per person round trip? She would not hear it except to tell us we wouldn't be allowed to board unless we paid the difference. So we did for we had a connecting flight in Altanta to Florida and a cruise ship to catch.
May 4, 2009 our return flights to Minneapolis, we were told by the rudest and most unpleasant female Air Tran staff upon checking our baggage the our baggage which were fine weight and size when traveling to Florida, was now "over-sized". This witch of a person, did not greet us or make any eye contact, she just proceed to get out her tape measure and staring measuring our bags. The luggage were supposely 2 inches too big. We argued and then she walked away stating "I'm not going to take this..."on and on. Sure, walk away if you can't deal with customers and the issues you bring upon yourself in terms of customer frustrations but find another competent person to do your job if you can't do it properly and professionally. We almost missed our flight home because of this most unprofessional, and rude person.
After a month of going though Expedia to get our refund, which we are still awaiting the credit to post to our credit card. This whole process has been so fustrating. Why should consumers go through all these fustrations to go on a simple vacation to escape their already stressful lives. The whole traveling industry has become so fustrating to deal with. A family spends time planning their only vacation for the year, researching and budgeting. And then once you get to the airport, the surprises don't stop popping up. WE WILL NEVER FLY AIR TRAN AGAIN!!!

Overbooked
I booked two Airtran tickets from their website, from Atlanta to San Francisco on Saturday April 4th 2009 and had the worst experience ever! First my booking was done March 4th 2009 that is one month prior to departure date. I arrived an hour before departure, checked in 2 bags and was told there were no available seats and that I needed to get a seat assigned at the gate. At first I thought it was some kind of confusion, I headed to the gate agent and asked fr my seating assignment, it took her like 15 minutes to find me 2 seats for me & my 4year old son and both seats were far apart and on row 30 last row next to the toilet. I still did not mind as long as I was able to get back home. However, I took my seat assignment and went to get food for my son, since the flight was a 5hour flight and no food was served there. It took me exactly 15min and I was back at 6:45pm 15 min prior to closing gate, as the flight was departing 7:05pm. As I stood in the line there was a guy was in front of me being served I waited my turn but the gate agent ignored me completely and took her papers and went in the gate and closed it behind her. I shouted after her hey what about us, she replied flight is full, there are no more seats! I stood there shocked waiting for some kind of explanation! A guy behind me, asked me where did she go? I told him what she said and he said but I too have a confirmed seat! So he decided to follow her he pushed the door open and asked me if I was coming in. I followed him towards the flight and there was our flight door open we waited for the agent to come out and tell us what was going on. But she came out shouting at us and telling us we had no right to be there and that we missed our seats and that she called out our names and we did not come forward, which I personally do not believe since I was a few yards away from the gate & did not hear my name or my sons name being called. When we demanded why were were being dismissed and not allowed to board we were threatened to call the police and be taken to jail... We went out and asked to speak to the manager, two other agents came and did a re-booking for us for next day flight (which was same time tomorrow). I was so furious and demanded an explanation to what happened to us. All they could say was that we were late. When I told them I was right in-front of the gate agent who was serving a customer in front of me at the gate, she denied she did not see us, how could you not see someone who asked you a question and you replied back to before you took off??? I felt the agents were a big liar, very impolite, rude and she also kept threatening us that we violated the rules by breaking in through the door and that we could go to jail for that!!! Now am also worried about what will happen to our luggage which has traveled in that flight to San Francisco without us. We are now ending up without no clothes or place to go for the next 24hours with a four year old!!! I will never ever ever fly Airtran again and not just that but am really disappointed at them for am a frequent flier and I used to think highly of them, until tonight! Tonight just proves how wrong I was about them and I would never recommend tthem any of my family or friends to fly with Airtran. My personal opinion of this situation is that I was treated unjustly and I think it's because am a Muslim wearing a scarf and I consider this act of discrimination against me as a Muslim.

Baggage
I was checking in my Bag which weighed 50LB's on my flight to Atlanta on Delta I left some clothing item their so my bag would be lighter when I checked in at Air Tran my bag weighed 53Lb's of course they wanted to charge then they took out the tape measure and starting checking the bag size and I was told it was 2" to tall they would have to charge wheels and binding counts against the size too. all in all they wanted 103.00 for my bag I will never fly Air Tran again weight's and Measure should checked their scales I felt I was being taken advantage of at the counter. the supervisor there told I could fly standby I wanted my sister to come pick up my bag but she also stated the flights were oversold and I had to use the ticket that day or pay 150.00 or more if I flew out on another day. she really tried to pressure me into paying for the bag, I took my bag to the post office there at the airport it cost me 48.90 to ship the bag back to LOS ANGELES. YOU WOULD THINK THAT IT ENDED THERE ! oh no this is Air Tran after boarding the flight the was a senior Citizen you did not speak english asking to use the restroom and the flight attendants were not interested in assisting her asking her to take a seat until I and another passenger spoke out loud that she wants to use the restroom which they then allowed her to use it then they had appear as though they were going to call security until we spoke up . after the incident with the Muslims you would think they would be a little sensitive to senior citizens I will Never fly Air Tran and suggest that no one put up with their underhanded tactics. how does my bag weigh more with less in it ?

Death in my Family
My dad died 11/4/2008 Election Day. I tried to get a cheaper ticket to see my dad with my son and they told me they do not give discounts because of a death in the family, I told them I have been with Airtran for three years and if they would make an execption, they would not and told me I need to notify them ahead odf time, my response was I don't know when my parents are going to die. I hope someone shows her the same respect she showed me. I know my dad is in a better place.

Lost luggage & rude employees
My family and I flew from Orlando, FL on Air Tran 7-4-08 to Rochester, NY and returned to Orlando on 7-8-08 (flight 585). When we arrived at the baggage claim we ended up waiting & looking 2 1/2 hours for two our suitcases that had been lost. We were finally told by a very rude employee named Jennifer that our luggage had been put on another plane because there was no more room on the flight we were on. She yelled at the waiting customers and told us that she is not a luggage chaser and if we had a problem, we needed to go to the office & complain because she did not want to hear. She was helping someone else find their luggage. We then had to fill out a form and was told to go home and call back to get an incident number because they did not have time to put our information in the system to generate and incident number. They next day I called back to get my incident number only to be sent to a voicemail each time I called. After leaving several messages, we finally received a call saying that we would receive our luggage at 5:00pm on 5-9-08. At 5:00 we received another call saying that the latest they would arrive would be 10:00pm. I was hysterical at this point. Our luggage finally arrived about 8:00pm that night. No one offered to call and apologize or explain what happened. I contacted the corporate office only to be told that Air Tran Orlando would have to handle my complaint. This is totally unacceptable. We had to delay the second part of our vacation because 2 of my family members had no luggage. My family (5 of us) was greatly inconvenienced & I want something done about this. The rude employee not only embarrassed us by yelling at us as people walked by, she was just a disgrace to the Air Tran company. We have been using Air Tran for the past few years, but will never use them again if we do not get an appeasement.

Headphone jack
On our flight in business class from Denver (11:26am MT) to Atlanta on July 3, 2008 I was in seat 3F. The headphone jack was broken not allowing me access to music. I did not mention it to the flight attendant as I knew nothing could be done at that time anyway. We were already in the air.
And it was my first time in First class! The rest of the service was super, but this does need fixed.
