Inflated Bill
Mr.Sunil Mittal has put in a lot of hardwork to make airtel an international brand and his employees are working hard to undo it.
On 4th August I received a bill for my Airtel number +919818585182 which i found to be inflated as normally my bill ranges between Rs.2000/- to Rs.3000/-per month but this time the bill is Rs.4500/-for month of July 2009. I complained to airtel on 121 saying that the charges for blackberry.net do not seeem to be realistic and that i rtequire my bill to be checked for usage. Since then I have spoken to numerous nodal officers who are supposedly efficient in providing solution but there is no response from airtel. I had a very bad experience when i spoke to Ms.Priyanka who is a nodal officer who gave me reference no for my complaint as 22245457 she carries the mobile no:9818334865 and she did not have any clue to communicate properly to the customer, was rude beyond doubt and did not provide a solution and assumed that the customer is wrong. This is pathetic service.
Then i called another nodal officer poonam who gave reference number as 945957078 who told me we will get back in 2 days, today is 13th august, no reply as yet. I have also complained on Ombudsman but no reply. Semms airtel is not bothered about genuine customer complaints. The ombudsman number also doesn't work.

Unbelievably bad customer service
I dont know where to start , why i am writing this post and what i am going to achieve (hope this spelling is right) with this post but let’s just write it.
Yes, finally i gave up the sucky reliance internet connection as i had started using broadband.
To use Internet on the move i thought i will go for the airtel card to go along with my Blackberry handset.
So i buy an Airtel prepaid card. Here is one of their paragraphs from the airtel blackberry webpage :
“Why BlackBerry?…
... Because work doesn’t stop when you’re out of the office. Things move quickly in the business arena and if you need to make quick, informed decisions while out of the office, choose BlackBerry.
The truth is that most of the customer service people at airtel do not know if this combo of a seperate airtel card and a blackberry vodafone will work or not.
1. I got the whole Mobile office thing of theirs activated but gave it up after 5 days because never did an automated settings sms come thru mobile nor did anyone send a settings’ sms manually(Tried this for the Sony ericsson w550i initially). Maybe they forgot to send the settings manually - (They however did not forget to deduct the daily charge for Mobile office those 5 days).
GOOD FOR THEM
2. I tried activating this service again a few days later thinking atleast someone at airtel might be able to help me out with the whole settings things of mobile office - So i activated the mobile office again(This time for Blackberry). After the whole questions and answer session again and the dialing of their numbers, 121 number for customer service etc a funny thing happened.
They stopped picking up my calls ?! (Instead of forwarding my calls to customer service the machine told me please send an sms to 121 with your query and we will get back to you)
Same thing happened last time around and I never got the reply to that sms.
I did’nt even call that many times, most of the times the phone got disconected in between because of congestion. I figured there must be something where you can’t call customer service more than x number of times in a day.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
So i decided I shall call their non toll free number from my business phone so that i can atleast get the settings. For this i went to Google.com and searched for their contact number. After landing on thier contact page i found out that the only number of theirs given on the page is 121. Which means you cannot call them up with your landline or any other number. (They did give their email address on the contact page though).
HIFIVE.
3. Now i though i shall just wait till the day gets over so i can call them up. I did and i was told to call up some other number 9892577010
Please hold the line while i transfer your call - This call maybe recorded for internal training purposes..
Just after 1 ring the phone gets disconnected and you get an automated sms:
“KBC 3! Ab aap ja sakte hain sidney hot seat par Shahrukh ke samne... Your last call cost is x.xx INR…”.
Total waste of time and money. Machine picks up , machine greets, machine talks, machine gives you option and then machine hangs up.
LAGE RAHO.
4. After the same thing happened 5 times i called 121 (It’s past 12.00 am so i guess i can talk to someone now) to know what was going on and i reached gprs products and service info department who told me that they do not know about the blackberry thing so i should call up the technical department. After dialing again , reaching the tech team and waiting for few minutes i was told Sorry sir but this handset is NOT supported for Mobile office. UNBELIEVABLE. (That feeling a striker gets when he scores a goal and later finds out the offside flag is up.)
I remember asking the customer service representative twice(twice to clear) if the Mobile office service will work on my Blackberry, and he said YES with full assurance. I ASKED TWICE.
I have no comments or statements or anything about the whole thing. I just HAD to write this post. If Reliance is bad then Airtel is worse.
Someone gimme an Hutchison Essar number please ?

Unlock device issue
I have a Blackberry device. model 7230, which I purchased 3 years back. I called Airtel Blackberry to get it unlocked on 27/04/2207 at 6:00pm. I spoke to Priyanka and she asked me to provide a post-paid number from Airtel.
My first point is that if I do not have a post-paid number so this means Airtel Blackberry people will not even take your complaint because they simply say that out software can not do that, which is very silly and un-professional. This is really ridiculous. It is obvious that if someone has called to get his device unlocked so in most of the cases the person has already disconnected number.
Anyway, she then asked me to provide any of my friends number so that she can at least take my call and give me a ticket number. After spending approx. 20 minutes with her she took all me details along with my alternate number and told me that as the post-pid number doesn't belong to me so Airtel Blackberry technical person will call me on my alternate number. She gave me the ticket no. 12352547 and told me that me device will get unlocked with in 72 hours.
I waited for 3 days, hoping that I will get a call but but then finally I again called Airtel Blackberry on 01/05/2007 7:45pm. I spoke to Gunjan Parashar and was surprised to hear that the complaint is already closed. the reason mentioned was that after speaking to the customer, the complaint is closed because the customer doesn't want this. I said I did not receive any call. Then he told me that they called on the post-paid number which I had given to Priyanka so that she can take my complaint. Gunjan told me that my alternate number is not mentioned anywhere. this was really shocking for me.
Anyway, as there is nothing I could do, I have logged the complaint again and my new ticket number is 12390464.
He gave me this email address and advised me to send a mail so that the complaint can be escalated..
After wasting 4 days of my valuable time for just getting my own device for which I paid money and it is now out of the locking contact period, I hope someone will read this email and will atleast get my device unlocked.
I hope this email will make the services of Airtel Blackberry a little better and more professional and your customer care people will understand the value of time for other too. Also I think this will put some effect on the incompetent support and shamelessly negligence of Airtel Blackberry.

Complaint from blackberry consumer (mobile no.9910332760)
Subject: Complaint from blackberry consumer
A copy of emails regarding Airtel Blackberry:
Dear Sirs,
I had made my complaint regarding the problem I faced as per my email below of January 18th, 2007. No one has responded with an explanation. I then decided to have my phone disconnected in late January and i was told by the help desk that it will be done.
I received a bill (number 579490282 dated Feb 3, 2007 for Rs. 3199.54) which carried billing for a period after I was confirmed disconnection. The extra amount was Rs. 500/- which I brought to the notice of the Airtel phone help desk. I was told to make the payment less this extra amount which I did and considered the matter over.
I continue to receive another bill from Airtel (number 589986792 dated Mar3, 2007) amounting to Rs. 1706/- for services I neither availed of, nor requested. Today, I received a legal notice from NK Singh & Co. asking to pay arrears of Rs. 1100/- where none exist.
I consider this continuing harassment of a consumer by AIRTEL, I have been and still am an Airtel customer but this method of harassing a customer are not acceptable.
Please resolve this matter with the concerned people at the earliest because we are unwilling to accept such harassment any further.
Look fwd to hearing from you.
Regards

Dear Sir,
Am writing to you in complete disgust at the way my Blackberry complaint has been treated at Airtel for the last 4 days. I find it very disconcerting you offer such terrible customer care for
I changed my handset from Blackberry 8700G to a SE P990i on Jan 15. Since then, despite several complaints on my GPRS Mobile office setting to Blackberry service going off intermittently to my inability to browse the internet due to GPRS service been discontinued, I have spoken to nothing less than 10 persons at helpline numbers ranging from 121, 7070 and 12118.
My problem has not been resolved yet, I have been told to be patient after repeating my story atleast 15 times, been asked to wait 4 times from duration ranging from 1 to 4 hours for complete resolution to the problem, but nothing has been done to resolve the issues I face. In fact at this point in time, I have been given at least 5 different reasons for justifying the problem I face, and yet, my online blackberry account says it has been suspended for unknown reasons.
Your tech support is not only incompetent and inefficient, your call center phones keep getting disconnected, and no one seems to have any empathy to inform the customer the real reasons for the problem and take real steps to resolve.
At this time, i am have no option but to switch to another service provide, but would request your company to take strict action against those who mishandled my complaint for 4 frustrating days, at the end of which, I still have no answers from Airtel, nor an assurance on when my service will resume, nor any apology for the misery I have faced trying to get my problem resolved by a company that obviously, does not care enough about their customer.
Look fwd to hearing from you.
Regards
