Maintenance issue with flight
Hello on Monday June 13, 2011 I was scheduled to fly from Atlanta, GA airport to New York Laguardia airport flight #360. Flight was scheduled to leave @ 7:30 which of course it did not leave on time. But that is not my issue right now, the issue was that they let this airplane fly out of Atlanta and get half way to New York to tell us that we have to turn around and go back to Atlanta after being in the air for over an hour. My problem is that usually when people take those early morning flights it is because they may have some place to be at certain time and the earlier they fly the better. I am very disappointed that an airline would turn the plane around fly back to the departing station and not accommodate the passengers for their inconvience.

Rude
I had driven from Canada to Minneapolis and then taken Airtran from Minneapolis to Florida and the flight was pretty much okay. On the way back, (From Florida to Minni) 2 weeks later, it was a different story. We arrived to the desk where we got our tickets (myself, my friend and her parents), and the lady stated that only 2 of us had assigned seats, (my friends dad and myself) and if we go through security, then to our gate, we would be assigned seats. We go through security, and go to the gate only to be told "Okay go sit down and we will call you up". That never happened. 5 minutes before they began boarding, my friends parents walked up to the desk and made it clear that we still didn't have the 2 assigned seats. The lady began talking very rudely saying things like, "No YOU'RE not listening to me.. listen to what I'm saying... stop talking". There was also a man who was separated from his family, because the airline overbooked. They said, "well 2 of you can get on and 2 of your can catch the flight 6 hours from now". This was a big issue because we had driven from Canada, and it would have been hard to arrange where the 2 that left would wait. We then said, "okay well that guy can go with his family and we'll wait for the 6 oclock flight". We were compensated with first class to Milwaukee (not from Milawakee to Minni), 2 paid for hotel rooms when we arrived in Minni (it would be 11 by the time we landed) and 4 free round trips to anywhere the airline flies. This seemed fantastic and we were obviously happy. We get to Minneapolis, call the hotel we were supposedly booked in, only to discover that they did not in fact book us any rooms. We had called the shuttle already and there was no time for anything. We literally were stranded at the airport with NO hotel room because they lied and never booked our hotel rooms. It seems so unprofessional to lie to your paying customers, when you're just screwing your company up in the end. We're now planning a trip to Aruba, but I'm not sure if i'm able to trust this airline.

Flight was cancelled
My AirTran flight was cancelled. The checkin agent gave me a voucher for an airport hotel stay. But with the voucher, it cost me $80. Expedia has the same hotel without this voucher for¨$68. This voucher is a joke. Don't fly AirTran. It's bad enough that they don't care about your cancelled flight, but to give you a voucher that costs you extra to stay at a hotel until the next flight? cut me a break.

Poor Customer Service
After delaying our flight for 12 hours, it was finally canceled. Air Tran employees were not apologetic AND would not reimburse us for our cab ride home that night from the airport OR our cab ride back to the airport the next morning. Very poor customer service!

Don't buy that ticket
Bought round trip from BWI to Atl for my 14 year old niece. After confirmation called the 800 number for gate passes, no problems. She arrived 2 hours in advance to leave and no mother had no pass. After over an hour mother was told she would have to leave to go to the gate, her plane was boarding. She got there and they closed the doors, the flight was overbooked, to bad. Waited for next plane, was seated and 5 minutes before ***, removed from the plane. Told they were overbooked and the seat was sold. Third plane she finally got on, 6 hours of waiting.

Return flight we arrived 2 hours early. Got boarding and gate passes, waited in long line at security. Arrived at gate 30 minutes in advance. She was treated like a "standby", no seat assignment, even though I had email verification of seat. Gate person told me unless I paid the extra that the email meant nothing. She got on the plane thank God.

Called corporate to get an explaination. I was told that the rules changed in Jan and what it comes down to is that buying a ticket is nothing, getting a seat is the problem. Unless you pay for the seat, extra money, you are treated like standby. I was asked if I was late to the gate, nope. I was asked if I checked in "electronically" 24 hours in advance? I said no, email states 90 minutes to 24 hours in advance. Was told 24hours would be better. Pretty much got the to bad, so sad story.

This is not safe for those sending children alone. My niece and three other girls underage were not put on their flights and sitting in the airport in tears not knowing what to do or why they weren't on their flight. They were at the gate in more than ample time. The workers were rude and uncaring, couldn't be bothered attitude, call customer service was their standard response.

AirTran is the worst airline I've ever dealt with
I flew from Philadelphia to Atlanta. My bag contained a number of items that are VERY important to me. Someone on board the flight took my bag (I'm assuming, by mistake). I would imagine that when they returned home and realized they had the wrong bag, they would have returned it somewhere. AirTran won't do anything about this. They don't care about my claim... their staff has been rude, they won't follow up with the people sitting near me to see where the bag might have been dropped off at. They tell me that they will call me back, then never do. I hate AirTran and will never fly with them again.

Never again
I have always been happy with airtrain but last week i flew from Baltimore to tampa to visit family and they lost one of my bags. I has been 1 week and i have not seen my bag. I saw my bag get into the airplane and get out but they claim they cannot find the bag. The worst thing is i had to pay $30 to send my bags and not they have lost one of my bags. My husband have been wearing the same clothes over and over again. They claim they have found my bad and was being delivery and that was 3 days ago i have not seen it yet. I will never fly airtrain again i will let everyone i know not to fly throught them.

AirTran Staff
I am so livid at the moment. First of all, my anger began months ago when I first booked my flight from Detroit to Orlando (with a layover in Atlanta) and was unable to get a seat confirmation.

My fears were realized today Dec. 22, 2009, when as I arrived at the ticket counter to check my bag (and check in with my family) that I encountered problems that ultimately caused me to miss my flight (AirTran flight to Atlanta 143).

Yes indeed, it was tight timing, but I arrived at the gate to find a very short line and three AirTran staff members doing absolutely nothing but chit-chatting and staring at the four of us. One gentleman was assisting in checking the four of us in, but was taking absolutely FOREVER. Let me break it down:

-first of all taking the money for the checked bag
-getting cash for the checked bags
-tagging the check bags
-trying to find seats for all of us.

My first irritation is when another person was called over to help changes money for the checked bags. That's when I overheard the gentleman checking us in say, "The three of you (referring to the idle AirTran staff) could be tagging, while I'm doing this."

Then my absolute favorite, was when after that, the guy checking us in seemed to fumble around for several more minutes trying to find seats for my family, to no avail, he says to another staff member, "Can you help me?"

A snotty heavy-set woman punches on the keys and says nastily, "ya'll better get in line the airplane door closes at 5:30 a.m." I didn't mind the announcement, what I was pissed about is that this warning came, AFTER all of the fumbling. WHAT THE HELL???!!!

No surprise, at 5:35 a.m. when we got the gate I was told there was nothing they could do. REALLY??? Considering you took a millennium to f@cking get through a virtually empty ticket counter.

So, I am now waiting on stand-by for an afternoon. If your plan to fly AirTran, I advise other to heed the warning and apparently get to the airport 5 HOURS ahead of time just in case their staff f@cks up and makes it your fault.

Passenger put on wrong plane
My friend, a cancer patient, was a board an AirTran flight from Kansas City to Fort Lauderdale, via Atlanta. In Atlanta, she rushed to board her connection to FLL, they directed her to #11. At gate 11, the gate agent looked at her ticket, did not scan it but waived her aboard. She could not find her seat (now we know it was because that seat did not exist on that particular airplane), so again, she consulted a flight attendant. They told her to "just sit here." She stowed her bags and put on her iPod (therefore unable to hear inflight announcements). A few times before flight she removed her headphones and once heard the attendant asking for a standby passenger to disembark (the plane was oversold by one passenger). When she got to her destination, she realized she was in Jacksonville, not Fort Lauderdale. AirTran Customer Service was closed. She was on her own!! Since AirTran doesn't fly from JAX to FLL, I bought her a new ticket on Southwest for early morning travel ($145). She was able to find a distressed traveler rate at a local motel ($45). These two expenditures combined is more than I paid for the original ticket, and finally, after a week of complaints and several calls to corporate, a $50 voucher is all I am being offered. This is an insult, they can take the voucher and shove it. Instead, I will dedicate my life to putting AirTran out of business. DO NOT fly this airline!!

Bogus conformation
Even though I had a conformation number my reservation was cancelled without my being informed. This was due to a credit card error that was not the fault of Airtran, however I hold Airtran at fault for providing a conformation number and "thank you for using Airtran" email, and then NOT NOTIFING ME OF THE CANCELLATION.

If you travel on Airtran beware that your conformation could be bogus, and they will make no attempt to contact you.
