I responded to an ad for a position as Office Manager/Trainee. I was given no information on the phone and advised to go for an interview. Upon arrival I was informed that I had to go through a training program which included doing presentations of their product (AKE Fire Safety Equipment). There was a level of graduating "pins" that you had to achieve before you became an office manager. At no time was I informed that this was based on dollars of sales made. I had to provide $550 ($500 for training kit and $50 for background check) and a decision immediately.

As learned throughout this "training program" I was required to sell this fire safety equipment and would not be placed as an office manager until a certain level of sales was obtained. The product that I was required to sell is extremely expensive and insufficient information regarding the product was all that was available.

The "Office Manager" position also required that you invest into this and obtain an office in which you are responsible for new hires to sell.

After 2 weeks of "training" the office manager assigned to me disappeared and his phone was disconnect. A new office manager was provided and the same pattern was continuing - "sell or get out".

I advised the "Regional Manager" that I would not complete the program due to many concerns regarding this business. I was advised by her that I was the only one who could not complete the program and that I would not receive a refund on the training kit because I had not completed the program. I also then noted that certain forms had not been signed properly my the first "office Manager", showed her my copy of the forms and as she placed her arms over her file, she stated "I will produce signed forms". The refused to show me these "signed forms".

I left and I await my supposed commission of 10% of the items that I sold. I also await delivery of these products to the customer which as the person who sold it to them am responsible.
