Product never received
On 12/23/09, I placed an online order for a book and received confirmation of my order(#32828843). I was charged for the full amount $62.24 but never received the book. I tried to contact the seller several times and, on 4/13/2010, received an email letting me know that another copy would be shipped. However, I have never received the package. Alibris is telling me that, because the issue is so "old", it's ok for them to keep $62 (I checked I was charged but not reimbursed)... Isn't that considered theft?

They provide a bogus phone number that doesn't work and never reply to emails
This is not a legit business. They provide a bogus phone number that doesn't work and never reply to emails. I bought a sticker book for my daughter and it arrived with no stickers in it. Yes, a sticker book arrived and all the stickers were gone. Stay away!

fraudulent book description
The book I received from Alibris.com was a disgrace.
The book’s condition was described as follows:
“Very good condition Good dust jacket.”
The book I received had:
*Mold on the inside cover and many of the pages
*Wavy pages from water damage (68 of the book’s 168 pages were wavy.)
*Several torn pages.
The book never should have been sold in the first place because it was in such poor condition.
Alibris' $3 coupon on my next order to help cover return shipping costs means nothing to me because I won’t be ordering anything from that company again. Instead, I will be filing a complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Colorado Attorney General.

Won't respond to inquiry!
I paid a premium to ship a book to me within 3 days. One week later, book has not shipped! They have not answered my e-mails. You can not talk live to anyone at their customer service number either. This type of customer service is unacceptable.
Not sure where I go from here!... but I won't order from here again. Now I search the net and find many complaints about there service.

Scam and lies!
I used Alibris.com to get a DVD box set for the anime Yu Yu Hakusho. I had all of the sets but the very last one, and since they are out of print I took whatever I could find. I found what I was looking for on this site and ordered it. I get a notice that the box set was shipped Jan 1 and would arrive no later than Jan 11 as packages take no longer than one to two weeks. My order number was xx706.
I waited until the 11 and got nothing. A week later I still have nothing and ask customer service what the problem is. They said they cannot do anything until at least thirty days have passed. So, I emailed the seller and asked what was going on. They did nothing but notify me that they were refunding my order.
So it seems Alibris.com did not have the DVD box set that they had in their search result but they still sold it to me. I got a receipt that told me that my money would show up in my credit card (I have a debit card) again in one to two weeks. But seeing as how reliable they are to get things done in this time span, I doubt that I will ever see my money again.
Now, I had to buy the entire series of this show through a website that does direct trade in Japan. It cost me 150 dollars for the whole series just so I could get one season because Alibris.com failed to due proper business and lied about their stock. I will never use this website again for anything. This is also the very last company I will ever buy from without searching for it here first.

Non-delivery / refund shorted!
Alibris has just given me the absolute worst customer service experience. First they failed to ever ship my order and second, the refund they promised was less than the amount paid. Emails are answered by what seems like people on Prozak - actually they are probably employed by a third party service in Asia. The language is too flowery to be North American and the manner in which detail is ignored seems un-American.
I recommend shopping with a company that actually can deliver on promises and one that cares about it's reputation. Avoid Alibris at all costs.

Too good to be true
Do not order from this website.
Do not order from an individual seller by the name of "payless."
If you must order from this website, use a credit card which will allow you to dispute the charges.
Quick rundown of my experience.
*i ordered a textbook from alibris.com.
*i was notified that my book was shipped on sep 25th 2006 and i paid extra for express shipping.
*it is now oct 16th 2006 and i have yet to receive my book.
*the seller "payless" has not responded to my inquiries.
*alibris.com only allows you to submit customer service inquiries via a webpage.
*i filed a complaint with alibris and in return i received a "form letter" notifying me of alibris's "30
Day policy" where they don't respond to complaints until 30 days has passed from the shipping date.
*alibris does not have a contact phone number.
*alibris's business address is a "suite" in ca.
*alibris places high ratings on their sellers, but it's not possible for buyers to rate or comment on the sellers. This minor detail is probably the biggest indicator of fraud.
*do a google.com search of the words "alibris" and "fraud" and "complaints" and the complaints are
Numerous and very similar to mine.
If the price of an "unused/unwrapped" textbook is $20-30 less than the same used book from other
Booksellers... Then the deal might be too good to be true. At least this is the lesson i learned from
Using alibris.
If alibris is not guilty of outright fraud, then the policies and procedures set by alibris make it
Possible for sellers like "payless" to defraud potential buyers.
Either way, its still fraud.

Do not order from this company!
I ordered a textbook through Alibris from a seller named "Payless" and I paid extra for express shipping. I received a message telling me that my order was shipped on September 25th. It is now October 16 and I have not received the textbook. I inquired with Alibris into the status of my order, and in return I received a "form letter" telling me that their policy allows 30 days for orders to be received. I had a number of other questions about the status of my order and the questions were not addressed.
FURTHER... Alibris doesn't have customer service reps that you can actually talk to over the phone. For all I know, the entire company is a big fraud syndicate much like the Alibris seller named "Payless."
I'm not going to bother dealing further with this company. I'm going to simply dispute the charges on my credit card and order my book from another vendor. I did a google search on Alibris and the complaints are numerous.
