There has been alot in the news about CEO'S and their salary's/bonuses recently. Did you know that a CEO running a hosp. makes more money than all the surgeons I know. The surgeons and all the other Dr.'s and nurses that work in the hosp. settings went to school to master their professions and this took them many years to complete. All these professionals know what there jobs are, they were trained to do them and no CEO could ever guide them in any of there work. The Chief Surgeon and the Chief Medical officer make sure all the medical entities are in place for their departments and the Administrative Nursing dept also put in place all the guidelines, dictated by state nursing laws. The put together all policy's and procedures, continue to update and take care of all the nursing areas. The CEO has nothing to do with any of this. The Dr.&nurses can even design a pts. room more efficiently that the CEO. They are not needed, you need a bookkeeper and an accountant. It has been researched and found that an increase in nursing and Dr.'s would make a much better outcome in a pts. hosp. stay but they can't afford to hire anymore. Well I say get rid of the CEO's and you will be rolling in money to fund the personal that is so desperatly needed. By the way, you are never to say your short staffed or you will not be working there anymore, but you will never be able to prove that ws the reason. Go to your area hospitals and demsnd to know where all the money is going. And by the way, who do you think I found out goes to wash. D.C. to protest any new laws to increase personel for safe pt. care? Suprise! the CEO's
