There was a problem with a small window screen and it fell out of the window when we opened the glass part of the window frame. I tried putting it back in but a part of the screen broke. I offered to pay for half of the damages because there was something wrong with the screen - it should not have fallen out when the window was used normally. The company did not follow through on the promised call-backs regarding the estimated damage-costs, and was unwilling to talk with me to negotiate a fair way to solve the problem. The company ignored even a complaint filed through the Better Business Bureau. We believe that we are being charged unfairly because the inspection prior to us renting this RV did NOT include a walk-through on the actual camper parts!!! There is no evidence to show that this screen was not already broken! To top it off, they provided me with a completely useless bill for the damaged part with what could be perfectly fabricated numbers for the cost of the repair: $100 for the screen is reasonable, but $100 for labour is not reasonable since we are talking about putting in a small window screen back into the frame.
Because we do not agree to the charges and believe that the company is charging us unfairly, we have not signed any documents allowing the company to take that amount of off the $1000 deposit. For this reason, the company is still hanging on to the whole $1000 deposit for over three months now! And we have no recourse, short of taking this matter to court! The company has given us every reason to believe that they are NOT in the least interested in resolving this matter reasonably. Recently, we sent a letter asking that both sides attempt, one more time, to resolve this issue. The company has not replied.
Anyone considering renting from this company absolutely must require that all important camper components be looked through in addition to the outside of the vehicle. Be very very careful or you will pay a much much higher price than what you are being quoted!
