Promoters of Bridal Shows beware!
The owner of Allen's Tuxedo contacted us regarding an upcoming show. We had not promoted a show in this area before and although extensive...social networking was done including two ads in magazines we told the owner (Marcie) it may not be the best time to participate. Giving her an honest opinion. She insisted they participate. The photograph is of the venue. You can see it is gorgeous.
She informed us that she participated in two other shows that bombed out.
It is unfortunate a I traveled from Washington to promote this gorgeous venue not knowing it is located behind another business and is difficult to find.
Nonetheless, the show was gorgeous and I feel blessed for all the wonderful upbeat PROFESSIONALS who participated and contributed to the show.
We stipulate on our website and on contracts that we cannot guarantee specific attendance . Allen's Tuxedo (Marcie) requested the small space. Her original purchase was for $195.00 for a 48' round table. I placed them in the main ballroom and graciously increased their showcase space as a courtesy.
Marcie said she'd pay once they arrived. Being a one man band I stayed busy working and networking in (3) locations) with all the vendors and neglected to collect thinking they had paid our assistant and wedding coordinator of the venue.
Of all the vendors they NEVER tried to network with the (7) wedding coordinators/party planners and talked amongst themselves. For those of you in this business you know networking with party planners is crucial and help bring you business.
Marcie sent a staff member to set up and arrived later. Her attitude was negative. (Which I choose to stay away from.) They had every opportunity to make excellent business connections as everyone else. I even brought coordinators to their table.
They left early and didn't acknowledge myself or staff member. Then had then asked if they could become a preferred vendor.
WHAT? Are you serious? After that bad and unprofessional behavior.
Everyone else made business connections and some booked weddings and other social functions. We all had fun except them. Some people in a people business..shoud NOT be in business. It ruins it for others who are trying to make a decent living.
I called Marcie for two weeks with her staff saying she was on vacation. Politely E-mailed her reminding her of her obligation. Payment is not based on attendance. No promoter accepts this. Her staff was unhelpful, and unprofessional. No call was ever made to me. No acknowledgment. This is SHAMEFUL behavior from any company as large as theirs for a measly $195.00.
We do have photographs of them participating.
I would not recommend them first due to their demeanor and second watch out and get your money up front. SHAME ON THIS COMPANY taking advantage of any situation. The balance...is still due. Shame on me for being so trusting. Sad isnt' it you cannot believe people. Get your money up front. Lesson Learned.
