Unauthorized charges
In October of 2008, a agent contacted ALR and requested information for us - and information only - regarding the types of health insurance coverage they offered. A package was sent and recevied, however, I never reviewed the package since we decided to apply and were approved by another company. Several months later, I discovered that ALR had been deducted $199 a month from my checking account. When I called to question the charges, I was told that even though a request was made for information I had been enrolled for covereage - I never applied to ALR - never made contact with them since the agent called requesting information. They were NEVER given our authorization to begin deducting these premiums from our account. I don't even know how they got our banking information. They tell me they have a "voice stamp" verification from my husband giving them his approval. This is just not possible as they have never spoken to either one of us until I called in March, 09. The ONLY person they spoke with is an insurance agent and he certainly did not have the authority to approved such charges nor did he have our banking information. They have refused to refund my money and will not respond to my letters asking again for this verification of our approval. They can't provide it but still will not refund my money. I have filed complaints with The GA State Insurance Commissioner's Office, The GA Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs, The California Gov's office of Consumer Affairs, The CA Attorney General's Office and will be completing a complaint with the CA Better Business Bureau. This company is a total scam and will not refund my money!! L. Squier
