Bad service
Amana does not make good on it's products... no replacement part so my range is garbage. Called them on the phone and back and forth conversation for 2 hrs. total in calls with no resolution. Spoke to a so called supervisor and got the run around. It is shameless to charge over $1, 000 for a range only to find that it can't be fixed. So many complaints about this range and they deny knowing about it? Anyone have any luck on getting any satisfaction? I filed a BBB complaint. Sinful to cheat people out of their money this way.

Range
Shame, Shame, Shame on you...A service call was confirmed by your office the day before the appointmentschedule for January 22, 2011 on January 21st. A Senior citizen waited for four hours (not even going to the mail box to pick up mail for concern about missing the appointment). When called to find about about the service call 30 minutes after waiting for four hours, the customer service rep said the technician was on his last appointment and could they schedule another appointment. You must be kidding!!! SORRY, what kind of customer service is this????????? To wait for four hours for something like a pilot light on an Amana stove and have a flat rate charge for a $129.00. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON YOU!!! What's with technician ID# 0541763. If you can't make the appointment, at least be honest about the situation... No wonder so many businesses are going bankrupt. Perhaps this might be a wake up call for you!!!

Save your money and time
We purchased a Amana central air condiioning unit 10 years ago. We live in CO. and only use it two months out of the year. After the first year we began having problems - including many electrical componets, the fan needing to be replaced and adding freon numerous times. Now, the compressor went out and we need to either replace it which is 2K or purchase a new unit. I called the compliance center which basically said there was nothing they could do. If you want to make a large investment only to continue to pay your HVAC person a few hundred every year to then have to purchase another unit after 10 years- AMANA/Goodman is your company! Save your money and time- purchase a different make!

Total junk
Purchased-2006

1. Amana dish washer

2. Amana gas range

3. Amana freezer/fridge

4. Amana microwave that mounts above the range

Problems so far since 2006…(4 year old appliances which we paid big bucks for)

Amana dish washer:

-Door handle broke completely off

- Dishwasher loud as a freight train.

Range oven:

-Replaced all the cast iron grates, burner caps and burner plates on the range top due to paint chipping.

-Had the broiler and oven igniter replaced. (broiler had never been used, not even once!)

-Hinges on oven door replaced.

-Latest issue with the oven, the digital display shuts the oven off at about 350 degrees, after the oven cools down we can restart it, Handy eh!

-The door does not close tight on the oven which causes the face where the burner knobs are to get so hot it would blister your skin. (we have a 3 year old) imagine the danger!

Amana freezer/fridge:

-Door hinges dropped and the door does not shut properly.

-Freezes veggies in the crisper.

Amana microwave that mounts above the range:

-plastic door handle cover melted, that’s right, plastic handle on a microwave that mounts directly above the stove. Had it replaced its melting again? Most likely caused by the failure of the oven door to close properly.

Warranty and product stinks
Purchased an Amana Refrigerator less than 9 years ago. Compressor went out and not worthy of fixing. Like new refrigerator going to the land fill. Save your money! Warranty and product stinks...Buy cheap, appears Amana makes nothing worth fixing.

Lemon
We've got a Lemon and Rude Customer Service with no help! Our Amana refrigerator which was bought out by Maytag then Whirlpool, had the compressor go bad.

We lost all our food. Now they say they won't get the part from the factory for SEVEN WEEKS! In the meantime we have no cold food. They said we could buy discounted new fridge for over $1, 000, but we won't give them another penny. We're held hostage!!!

A&E has crappy service
A&E factory service what a joke!!! I purchased an Amana washing machine back in June, a week after we had the washer it had a problem so we called Whirlpool and they sent A&E out to fix it. Well the repairperson turned on the washer stayed about five minutes and said, “I do not see anything wrong” and just left. I did not know if he was ordering a part or not. Therefore, after he left I started the washer and the same error code came on so I call A&E again and told them that the washer was still not working. So they set up another appointment, let me just add they only come out to my town on Thursday. Therefore, in two weeks, another repairperson comes out and this time he put in an order for a part to be sent to our house and said when it came in to call A&E for a repairperson to come out to put on the part. Therefore, five days later the part came in and I called for a repair. Being that they only come out on Thursday I had to wait another week, so we did. The repairperson came out, put the part on, stayed about five minutes, and said well your washer should work now and left. After he was gone, I put some clothes to wash, hoping the washer would work and it did not. So there I go again calling A&E and for another appointment. After calling A&E, a person from customer relations called to see why we are having so many service calls. We explained what the problem was and what the washer was doing. The customer relation person called in a part. The part was sent to our house and TWO weeks later, a repairperson came out to put the part on. At this time for whatever reason, my drainpipe was plugged and he could not see if the washer was working right, (What an excuse.) The last few times they were out they did not stick around to see if it was working properly. However, when the repairperson left he said this time your washer should work. What a joke, after we got the pipe cleaned out that day we tried the washer and do you think it worked. No!!! Therefore, I call again this time I am pissed, and you know what A&E said, well the repairperson noted that he could not run the washer to see if it was working because your pipe was clogged. I argued back saying, what about the other times they came out and did not stick around to see if the washer was working properly? Well they did not have an answer. So, here we go again making another appointment still pissed and upset with the person trying to help me. He makes an appointment for a Monday September 28, 09, because I do not want to wait until Thursday. Therefore, I get one of those automated conformation calls on Sunday night, saying that a repairperson will be out on Monday Sep.28, 09. So I took off Monday, (like I have been for the last 3 months for the damn repair) but as I was sitting there something told me I should call, so I did and guess what, they took me off their list because they do not come to my town on Mondays. What a bunch of A—Holes. So now, I am sitting here today not knowing what to do. I’m sure you might be thinking why don’t you call Whirlpool, and I have and they asked me to keep the appointment on Monday and if the washer still does not work then call them back and we can go from there. Therefore, thanks A&E for making things go so well.

Overcharged
$65 to drive into my driveway and $82 to pull a sock out of one of the hoses. Labor for 15 minutes? I was tied into A & E because they are a warranty service provider and the washer was less than a year old. Ordinarily I support local businesses. A & E is based in Portland (240 miles from Grants Pass where I live). There is no way I would have paid any local business more than $50 for this call; although I could stretch to the initial $65. The rest of the fee was completely unfounded.

The tech was courteous, but he admitted that there was nothing on his menu that identified the work he had actually done, so he keyed in what he thought would be the least expensive "Pump - clean". And he left me a coupon for a preventative service for $39.99 (which entails more than he did) after he handed me the bad news. A new washer would have cost me less that this service call.

I called A & E to request a refund since the guy hadn't actually cleaned the pump - the phone techs were completely unwilling to even discuss an error in their billing practice. I also called the store where I purchased the washer a year ago and informed them of what had happened with the company they recommended of the warranty providers.

If I could find a way to lodge a complain with Whirlpool, I definitely would. In today's economy we all have to do our part - and they took unfair advantage of a function the general public cannot perform for themselves.

Washing Machine NAV2330AWW
We bought this washer in June of 2005. We decided on an Amana because it was a well known brand and the price was decent since we were getting a bit of a break buying all new appliances for the kitchen as well (not Amanas by the way) Now we know why the salesman gave us a break...to get rid of a piece of junk! This washer went belly up after exactly 4 years. I went to wash a load of laundry and it filled up fine but then when it got to the agitate cycle it just started grinding and vibrating and the agitator was not turning. We called in a repairman that told us that it was the transmission. The transmission has a ten year warranty so it was still covered, however, in order to change the transmission, a seal kit must be changed that is NOT covered and costs around $100 plus you have to pay for labor. The estimate for repair was $286, which is almost only $100 less than we paid for the machine new 4 years ago! What a rip off! Now we still have to pay a $50 service charge even though we're not getting it repaired. We called customer service at Amana and after being put on hold for almost 30 minutes (the entire call took 45) my husband detailed the situation to the representative and pointed out to her that the "warranty" on the transmission was essentially worthless since the seal kit was not being covered making the repair cost compared to the price new 4 years ago not worth it. All they would offer us was 15% off a new AMANA appliance. NO WAY! First of all, 15% is a crap offer when you have to replace a major appliance after only 4 years and second, why would we buy another Amana when we got a piece of junk from them before with a worthless warranty? The ironic thing is that a 15% discount would probably be about the same price out of their pocket as the seal kit so why not just cover the seal kit and keep your customers happy? Doesn't make sense to me. When they would not offer anything else, my husband asked them if what they wanted was for us to "go away and never buy another Amana (or Maytag since they are both owned by the same company now) appliance ever again and tell everyone we know to stay away from them" and essentially the answer was yes. Stay away from Amana. After this I have read reviews on other sites on not just their washers but other appliances and they seem to get very low reviews and are JUNK. Now our family of 5 including a 6 month old baby must do without a washing machine until we can save up the money for a new one after only getting 4 years of service from the Amana. We live on a strict budget and one income as I am a stay at home mom so I don't know when we'll have the money to replace Amana's piece of junk.

We had a washing machine before this one that was a hand me down from a friend that was already 17 years old when we got it and we had it an additional 4 years and never had a problem with it. I believe it was a Whirlpool. The only reason we bought a new one was that we were moving and decided not to take our appliances with us since it was a long distance move. I wish we had brought that old washer with us. It would probably still be working today! Only getting 4 years out of a washing machine is BS.

Scam and cheating
After reading reports of problems similar to mine from Pat and Joel, I felt compelled to write. I purchased my rather expensive, stainless steel Amana French door, bottom freezer refrigerator in about October 2005, but it was not delivered to my new construction until about January or February 2006. It required it's first repair at about one year out and it's second about one year after that. On both occasions, the fan or blower (sorry, I'm not sure of the exact name of the part) had gone out. It was described as the fan that blows the cold air from the freezer up into the refrigerator. Both times, the freezer continued to work, but the 'fridge went completely warm.

I was searching the net for any signs of a class action suit or recall on these refrigerators as I seem to read nothing but bad reviews. I was searching today because both the freezer and refrigerator seemed to have gone out. The unit is actually still working - sort of - but taking a long time to recool. Once again, I have most of the food at my mother-in-laws and the rest in ice chests on the kitchen floor.

In addition to prone to shutting down randomly, this refrigerator is EXTREMELY noisy!! I mean really, really noisy!! As if two repairs in two years, with possibly another repair in the immediate future, isn't bad enough, the unit is constant clicking, vibrating, and humming loud enough for me to have to adjust my t.v. volume when it kicks on. It also makes a weird, loud knocking noise that the second repair man said was the ice machine telling the refrigerator to send more water - huh!?!?!
