I went to a place called Ambrosia Medical Spa to have a some basic treatments done on my face to make my skin look and feel refreshed. During the visit I was talked into doing a skin peel on my chest as well and was told unequivocally that it would completely smooth out any imperfections in my skin. Sadly it did not - It instead left me with severe hyper-pigmentation!

At no time during the hurried session was I told about any potential side effects of the procedure. The girl was a very good "salesperson" talking exuberantly about how good the peels are to reduce everything from lines & scars to pigment issues, etc. I was never told of the potential dangerous and permanent side effect from a skin peel. A week after the procedure noticing an unusual and extreme darkening of my skin to this area - I was told it was "normal" and to wait longer. After a few weeks of not feeling confident with their opinion and knowing its wasn't "normal" I made an appointment to see a dermatologist for a second opinion.

The dermatologist diagnosed my condition as severe hyper-pigmentation caused by trauma to the skin. She also said it was caused by the peel and that she was shocked that they had even used such an agent on my skin especially for that area. She also said that it might be irreversible and that this type of skin condition and reaction is very hard to correct!!! NOT only was I NOT told about the possible side effects, but the person had used an extremely strong skin peeling agent without doing any prior testing to my skin. To make a bad situation even worse, when I went back to be examined all of the staff insisted that is was "normal, " dismissing my concerns and told me that it would disappear in a few weeks.

Well, it's 8 months later I still have noticeably hyper-pigmented skin even after using skin bleaching cream for 6 months. Please Please Please - avoid this place at all costs. I believe their staff to be extremely unqualified and like many of these new spa's much more interested in making money than anything else.
