Hubris & Greed
After going around and around with Amcore and their attorneys that they sicked on me after calling in a loan, I finally had to scream "Uncle!" They called in my business line of credit in order to raise money for their fledgling empire. They were impossible to deal with and wouldn't even return calls. Finally, I had to get an attorney to intervene. In the end, there was no way out. So I took it upon myself to tell the local community Amcore's practices through a yard sign campaign. And boy, did that get their attention! They even tried to bill me for time spent with their attorney regarding my sign campaign. I didn't use this one, but I thought it was a goody: Who's your favorite whore? Amcore!

Overdraft charge
For some reason Amcore Bank decides to randomly post overdraft charges to my account. I called Amcore and they told me that the overdraft was correct and that they would not remove it. When I stated that I would take my business to another bank, the superviser replied, "that's fine!''
Look at the picture and tell me where my account went negative!
The picture cuts off some charges, but none of them made my account negative.

Overdraft fees
Amcore bank has raked me over the coals again! Overdraft fees (7 at $35 each!) when they are NO overdrafts on my account! My math matches the math perfectly according to online banking, and the only thing putting my account in the negative are the overdraft fees. Customer service REFUSES (at both 1-800 and local branch) to reverse the fees. I have no choice but to pay the fees, even though they cannot prove to me where or when the overdrafts happened, or demolish my good credit!
We do have a states attorney's office in Illinois right? Well where the heck are they because last time I checked robbery was illegal in this state!

inaccurate web banking
Amcore bank does not accuratly post your balence information online. I have been told by an Amcore bank representitive that the online baking is not accurate and that I need to rely on a handwritten register, NOT the web site. My deposit was noted online as posted, not pending, but was treated as pending, then slapped me with an overdraft for relying on their information. I have the copies to prove it but the file is too latge to download on this site.

Fees
I am so upset with Amcore Bank. I doubt the legality of their "business practices." My husband and I were out of town last week. We stopped for breakfast on Tuesday morning and I used our debit card. On Wednesday night, we stopped for gas and I used the debit card. When I checked my account a few days later, there was a debit from the restaurant (dated 08.19) for around $20, and then a debit from the gas station (dated 08.20) for $44. The $44 transaction overdrew our account by a couple dollars. That's fine, that's my error. However, Amcore posted two overdraft fees to our account. I called "customer service" (I use the term loosely), and they told me that it was showing on their computer that the gas station transaction had occurred first so that we would incur two fees. So I explained to the representative that my screen was showing that the restaurant debit had in fact occurred first and that our account was only negative because of one transaction, not two. I asked the representative how in the world it was legal for them to change the order of transactions from ACTUAL REALITY, to some sort of twisted AMCORE REALITY where apparently things happen in reverse.
This was bad enough. I just had to call them AGAIN. Friday, I deposited a check for $300. I deposited the check at a branch with a teller; not an ATM or night drop. Because this bank is constantly raping us, I called the automated line to make sure that my account did indeed have a positive balance. The automated line reported to me that yes indeed, I had deposited $300 and my account was positive. I used the card for several purchases over the weekend, but DID NOT overdraw my account. My account has a POSITIVE BALANCE, and has since the $300 deposit. I logged onto online banking this morning (Monday). There is a $35 overdraft fee. On an account with a positive balance. I called "customer service". The snotty person on the other end of the phone told me that one of my weekend transactions was pre-authorized and that the $300 was not "available" yet. I stated to her that this pre-authorized transaction did not incur until after I made my deposit and called and verified my balance as well. The transaction she's speaking of was for $2.00. I missed a toll at an I-Pass lane and paid the toll online to avoid getting a ticket. This is a $2 transaction. I paid the $2 online AFTER I deposited the $300. (Keep in mind that my account was never negative, it is still positive.) So she tells me that because of the type of transaction it is, the money wasn't "technically" available. I stated to her that I checked my account balance and that it was positive. I asked her how a transaction could be authorized to post, but then be charged a fee. I asked her how Amcore could charge an overdraft fee on an account with a positive balance. She was rude and snotty, and didn't really answer any of my questions. I cannot believe that Amcore just stole ANOTHER $35 from me on a POSITIVE ACCOUNT. I am trying to get my kids ready to go back to school tomorrow. Amcore just took gym shoes from my 1st grader. I have a positive $20 in my account, but it should be $55. I cannot believe I just got charged for having a positive balance.
Apparently the banking system in this country cannot be left to regulate itself. Evil will always prevail. Why are entities like Amcore bank getting away with this? There are some good banks out there, and I am closing my account with Amcore. I'm nearly ready to deal with cash only, but I'm hoping that I can obtain an account with another bank that will not steal from our family.

Double Charging Overdraft
Amcore is now putting holds on "Pending" ATM-Debit Card Transactions for the amount of the possible transaction. Pending means that a transaction MIGHT happen it is not a a real transaction. If there is not enough in your account for the hold they generate in and of themselves (how is this even legal), they charge a $35 overdraft. Now 24-36 hours later the transaction will either fall off or post. If it posts and your still overdrawn, they charge another $35 overdraft for the same transaction. That is double dipping and is fraud!
What a racket.
Also, they are also resorting transactions that have posted so they can pay a higher charge item that will then cascade cause multiple items to bounce. God help you if those are pending ATM or debit card. They did both of these to me and it cost me a fortune.
Here is the scam. My Last 4 items that had already posted. Several days later a check was posted for more than the available balance so it should be 1 overdraft for $35+the check right?...nope they reversed out the last 4 items, posted the check, then resubmitted the last 4 items charging $35 each. Then a debit card transaction came through for $2 and yeilded $70 in overdrafts, that double dipping thing.
Its days before my paycheck and the $5 per day is going to kick in. They rep told me they can resort your account back for 30 days however they see fit!
Avoid amcore like the plague!

just horrible to deal with
This bank truly sucks. After banking there for 5 years and paying off one $400K loan, the bank termed out a smaller loan, sent it to their attorney to demand total repayment at once. They have no more "relationship" bankers as they've fired most of them now. They are impossible to deal with and will nickel and dime you to death in punitive fees. With their current situation, they should be out of business by the end of the year. I guess what goes around, really does come around. Do yourself a favor, and bank elsewhere

Stealing
Please help us all with this complait. Amcore bank has had some recent changes that are just very harmful to the consumer. Amcore holds checks until you don't have enough money in the account to cover them. This happends when you make a deposit and now it takes 24 hours for the deposit to take affect, and you can't deposit on the weekends either, because it's not a business day. For example I deposited May 24th and it wasn't reconized until the 27th. Now on my statement it will say deposited May 24th and it also said that is posted on the 26th. Yet I had some transactions go through all on the 26th, but that deposit wasn't their until the 27th. So then of course I put the money in there, but they still overdrafted me with 2 checks that were at least a couple of weeks apart. I find so many of there practices decietfull and vendictive to the extreme. You can't find a branch manager to tell you the truth either. With the way it looks on my statement Karen Mckee at Amcore in Roscoe just kept fumbling her words and then got caught in a lie. She was trying to tell me that all the banks are practicing this way. Well they are not so I am switching banks of course. The common man and women in this recession cannot afford these kind of practices. Please look into this Bank for us please.
Thank you so much,
M. Ditsworth
Thanks so much for your help

Overdraw Fees
We have security camera's at the local Amcore Bank to review hold-ups or criminal activity. Are these security tapes available to customers? They should be! Amcore Bank is one of the biggest thieves in the banking industry. They shouldn't need a taxpayer bailout, they need a "Get out of Jail Free" bailout for fraud! Do not use Amcore Bank! They are the thieves!

Overdraft Scam
Amcore Bank has been screwing me over for months. Wanted to post here to inform everyone that before I take my checking account somewhere else that this bank will screw you over sideways week after week after week. I have my checks direct deposited every week, and I get 1 - 2 overdraft charges EVERY week. Customer service is unhelpful and rude. This bank will hold your pending checks until your account is low, and then clear the checks making your account bounce. Example: My account one day will have a positive 50 dollars, and my direct deposit kicks in that same day. Conveniently, Amcore clears 2 checks of 30 dollars a piece from 10 DAYS AGO, just to bring my account to negative so they can asses the 35 dollar fee. Why wait to clear a check? Why does everything else clear, but these checks held? Just to bring your account to a negative balance so they can tack on the bounce check fee. It's a perfect scam, and I'm done with them.
