unfair and illegal loan practices, incompetence, incompetence, incompetence!
After 5 months of trying to resolve an issue with my homeowners insurance with ASC, I figured I had actually succeeded. I spoke with four different customer service representatives, one of whom was a supposed supervisor. I twice faxed my policy, only to learn on the second attempt that not only did the first representative NOT apply the information, but that I could have satisfactorily completed the information request online. The fourth representative, who was most helpful and knowledgable, did supposedly apply the correct information, however a few weeks later I received yet another notice informing me that my current policy, which expires annually in December, was due to expire in February 2008. Assuming this was a typo but certainly NOT trusting this company, of course I called. I was informed that they did in fact have the correct information of my policy expiring in December 2008. Now, three days ago, sure enough, I received another notice informing me that ASC's records show my current policy expired this month (Feb.). To add insult to injury, ASC is now charging me additional fees for insurance provided by their insurance company, as they did in the past with the original screw-up. Here's the icing on the cake...My agent also phoned and faxed them my information and subsequently informed me that it is against the law to charge me for insurance if I already have an active policy. However, ASC will NOT accept a payment to be made that is less than the actual payment due without some sort of written appeal to a special department. This appeal can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks! In the mean time, any payment less than that of the payment set by ASC is considered "non-payment" and in default of the loan, which of course negatively affects your credit. And they report it IMMEDIATELY! If you're considering a loan with this company...DON'T! If your loan is sold to ASC...seek help! They will make your life a living hell! Unless of course you don't mind doing their job as well as your own?
