Rip off
I received 2 phone calls, one at home and the other at work, from an Eric Matthews stating that it was urgent for me to call him regarding a legal matter. Being a single mother of 3 children, I immediately called to avoid and legal action against me, and was advised that if I didn't take care of a debt, my account was going to be sent to the investigation unit. The debt was supposedly a payday loan obtained 9/2007. They had ALL of my personal information, and said that even 2 of my references would be sued because of me. It was really scary. They said I owed $1095 and could pay it in 2 installments. They told me I had to fax tow letters to them. One was a letter of apology and the other an authorization letter with my debit card information within 30 minutes of my conversation with them, if not, someone will be picking me up tomorrow. I was really scared, so I decided to do a little digging before sending them all the information and found them here. I am so glad I found this sight before doing anything, as my money is really limited. These people are rude, and you can't hardly understand them. There is a lot of noise in the background, and their accents are really heavy.

Thanks to the information I found here, I did not fall victim to this threatening scam.

This was very scary!!
I received 2 calls today, one on home and one on cell, and a message was left stating it was important for me or my attorney to get in contact with them. The number that showed up was a cellphone # (941)961-8518 but the number that was left to call back was (310) 362-4319. The woman said her name was Selena Gibson and to call her back. When I called the number back, a woman named Christine Jones answered and said she called me and said I owed American Credit Services for a payday loan. They rambled off my email address and my references. She proceeded to say that I needed to give her my attorney's number. She then said she would transfer me to her supervisor, but not to raise my voice or use profanity because the supervisor can be very rude. Then I get Jonathan Davis and he stated the same thing Christine did about the payday loan. He then said that on Monday morning the investigation department would be coming to my house to take me down to the courthouse so I can pay over $5000!! I told him I didn't have the money. He then stated the names of 2 of my family members and said because I put them down as references, they were also going to their house to take them to jail. He then said that if I wanted to "help myself" he could offer me a OOCR (Out Of Court Restitution) and he would take the debt down to 70%. I refused. Then he said he could take the debt down to 50%. Again I refused. He proceeded to say that "I need to help myself" and over and over again he kept saying "tell me what you want to me to do in your situation". I told him I couldn't come up with the money. He proceeded to say that if I wanted to make good on this loan, then he can hold my paperwork, and I would need to fax over 2 letters. One is an apology letter and the other is a letter authorizing them to take the money off of my credit or debit card. Each person that I spoke with had a very heavy accent and almost could hardly understand them.
When I told my husband about this, he immediately called them back and started to raising hell because he was implicated in this "fraud". He called at least 10 times and each time he got someone different but they all kept using the same names. He told them that legally they can not make a threat and have him picked up and taken to jail. They kept changing the titles of each person in the company and they also told my husband that they were part of the FBI task force!!
What lets you know this is some sort of scam is that they spend so much time on the phone with you because that is probably how they were taught. But this was scary none the less and ridiculous.

NO PROOF and Traumatic
We had the same situation from a caller Shawn Woods and our ID caller shows Service Provider tel# 213)221-1002... gave a phone number of 213)995-3046 for a return call. This guy started calling my number this week and keeps on calling my number, it would start noon till 3pm...and would keep on repeating after a long arguement for proof of IOU from him...
this is what it entails: he would say and keeps on repeating:
1. i had 3 criminal record to be on my sss#
2.knows my sss#, gave me the option that i can pay by credit card of by ck.
3)and was asking me to pay $$$ OR ELSE I will be picked up by the cops tonite...
he would not give any additional info but informing me I cashed a ck from FAST CASH???who is FAST CASH???
when i asked him to send me some form of legal documents in the mail to show the IOU this Shawn Woods who also posses a strong accent on the phone had a noisy background and would pause in silence . This Shawn guy knows names in my family and social security number...this is very scary, with names and sss# mentioned, hinted the phone call was very suspicious...for those who had this experience...there must be a way to fight back and catch this culprits...

Scare Tactics
March 18, 2009 message left about legal proceedings for an internet loan with money deposited into my bank account on Jan. 18, 2008. Returned call and was told someone would be at my home tomorrow to take me to court for failure to pay. This person had my social last four digits along with my children's names. This is scary and most unnerving.

Phone call regarding a supposed loan
Received a phone call from number listed as 941-961-8518. The gentleman named Johnathon on the phone had a strong accent and stated it was urgent I or my attorney contact him at 714-400-0563 (not the phone number listed on the caller id). Since this appeared suspicious, I first called the number listed on the caller id (941-961-8518) and the service provider indicated the number was no longer working. I then called the 714-400-0563 phone number and I had to call this number several times before I was able to get through. The individual on the line stated his name was Andrew Brown and he was an attorney with the Crime Monitoring Division Law Firm based out of California with the zip code listed as 92805. He stated that if I did not pay approximately $1500.00 by today, I would be sued for approximately $5500.00 beginning on tomorrow by American Credit Services. He stated someone would come to my place of business and arrest me and I would be very sorry. He stated this payday loan has been in default for over a year (since 01/08) and that I had neglected to respond to over fifteen (15) emails sent to me. I never recalled requesting a payday loan from an American Credit Services and surely would not have ignored a default of over year nor emails, so I requested Account information regarding the loan. Mr. Brown stated he did not have any account information other than he knew ALL my personal information and that I needed to settle this matter IMMEDIATELY. I told him I wanted to honor all my obligations, but I needed more information before making a $1500.oo payment. I requested he have copies of the emails sent to me or a copy of the supposed contract and he stated that would be a conflict of interest between his law firm and American Credit Services. I requested he at least give me a loan number because every loan has an account number, but he kept referring to my personal information and I found this to be very creepy. I then asked for at least a contact number for American Credit Services and Mr. Brown stated he could not provide this information. I became further suspicious. Mr. Brown stated I would need to fax two (2) letters to 714-845-0766 with the first letter containing a letter of apology listing my full name and the second letter containing authorization for me to make payment. I then said I wanted to talk to his financial services department to make arrangements for the payment of $1500.00 and he transferred the call. A young woman answered and I began asking what the loan account number was to I could reference this in my payment and she started to stumble in her speech and put me on hold. When she came back I could hear Mr. Brown speaking to someone else in the background and she said she did not have an account number other than my personal information (that Mr. Brown had provided to me earlier) and that if I wanted specifics she could transfer me back to the attorney. I asked her the attorney's name and she said the gentleman I had been speaking with but could not give me a specific name. I was getting more suspicious by the minute. While speaking with her over the phone I began searching the internet for this American Credit Services and could not find out any specific information. The more questions I asked the more confused the young woman became and stressed I might need to talk back with the attorney. I told her that was not necessary and I asked what forms of payment she accepted. She stated they would accept credit cards and/or debit cards and I told her I would make payment but I needed to transfer funds into my account and hung up. While searching on the website for American Credit Services or Crime Monitoring Division Law Firm of California, I stumbled upon another complaint for American Credit Services. Because the complaint I read sounded so similar to mine, I felt the need to make a complaint as well.

Terrible experience
Today someone by the name of Johnathon (with a very thick middle eastern accent) called my home number, place of business, and home office number all within a few minutes. On the caller ID at my place of business the number came up as a local number, yet the caller gave our secretary the number 714-333-2950. The person (whom you could hardly understand) told our secretary that he needed to speak to either me or my attorney, and that I was going to be very sorry! I tried all day to call back. The local number that came up on the caller ID wasn't in service. The 714 number was almost impossible to get through to. When they left me a message on my home phone the person was almost impossible to understand, and it was very noisy in the background, and then got very quiet, and disconnected. When I finally was able to reach them, they had ALL of my personal information and wouldn't tell me who they were collecting money. All they would say was that it was for a payday loan. I had several payday loans that I had paid in full, so I asked him what company it was for, and he wouldn't tell me. He said he was calling to warn me that tomorrow morning an investigator would be at my door to drag me to the courthouse by my hair, and I would be very sorry. THis was so creepy. I called several of the companies that I had payday loans with and they told me it was a scam and to report it.
