Closed Card By Email Notice
I only had my account two months I was emailed tell me my card was no longer open due to my credit score dropping this was after I payed my account in full just nine before they closed my account I was not suprise due to them need my income to be verifed and my account put on hold within the first month after the account was open I know my credit have not dropped because I have only one other credit card and a car note that is payed on time each month

Credit Card
American Express is the worst credit card company that i ever had used in
my life.

Reasons? :

1- overlimit fees which none of the other credit card companies such as VISA and Master Card have those fees. Sometimes you dont pay attention on how much your balance is and you go over your limit by few hundred dollars and they charge you almost $30 for over your limit.

2- worst customer service representetives: Customer service reps. at Amex are not nice, polite, kind and they always talk to you in a way that they do you a huge faviour by talking to you on the phone and the most important thing is that their answer to all your questions are " NO ITS NOT POSSIBLE" " NO WE CAN NOT DO THAT AT THIS TIME" and ...

3- Funny matter is that 10 our of 15 times you call them to ask to do something or make changes to your account, They always tell you that the system is currently down or their system is getting updated.


Personally its my second time that im cancelling my credit card account with them .
I this there are more experience credit card companies such as VISA and MASTERCARD out their which they kindly and happly give you better service then AMEX.

Expired card use
I found that both my Amex credit and charge card had been used this year, both for the same amount total almost £3000.00. The problem is both cards are old expired cards from 2 years ago. This is not the first time that somebody in Amex has pulled this scam with me, two years ago the same thing happened for a 5 figure sum, again on 2 different cards that had both expired long ago. I thought Amex were one of the best companies around, but now they are showing that they are nothing more than common criminals. Nobody can use expired cards, that is unless you work for Amex. I wonder how much they have stolen from me over the many years I have trusted them. I will never have online statements from any company again.

credit card
recently had Amex cancel my card, i was in the midst of a business trip -
i went from 25k to 1k and i was over my limit.

Thank GOD i had cash in the bank and had to use my debit for the rest of the trip.
but i was in argentina - they didnt care -- on top of it i had 90k in points, they would not free the points - they kept them . . i want to sue is it worth my time??

this is the worst of the worst!

Payment processing
American Express takes too long to process people's payment information. They need to hire more people to manage. Maybe they should think about getting more building space.

Ok American Express Costco card . your computers cant think, your cs service department operates with no regard for human error, but yet you have made the error way out of control by total lack of inter company communication. my problem has been on going for 6 months and no one has taken authority and cleared it up correctly. like im going to pay ur jacked up interest charge when you where to lower the rate back down to 9.24 and it takes you more than a month. you are not acting like a partner to costco and there massive membership customers when you are not willing to honor working something out that has spun so far out of control case 7 different people at

AMEX handle a problem, dont return calls, dont leave call back numbers, totally unwilling to work with small business, so next i call Costco and have them help me get things right. please help me out or i will drive negative people and press to help me be heard loud and clear!

I am an experienced business person, which is why I am stunned by the lack of rectification Amex has produced regarding the misinformation they provided about my gift card. On 5/7/10, I attempted to use the small remaining balance on a $50 gift card ($11.65) toward a much larger purchase at an area Walmart. In order to process the card, the clerk needed the balance, which I'd forgotten, not having used it in a couple of months. She advised me to call the # on the back of the card, the "help" #. I did and was told the card no longer had any balance; that it had been used up in a February 2010 Target purchase. Therefore, the clerk discarded the card, and I paid for my purchases otherwise and left. When I got home, I reviewed the register receipt from that Target purchse, only to find the card, in fact, had an $11.65 balance...NOT A ZERO BALANCE!!! I'd been misinformed;HURT BY THE HELP FOLKS!!! I called Customer Service 5/10/10 and, without the card #, they could do nothing but advise me to fill out this form...sort of "the victim being punished" theory. In the computer of the gentleman who took my call Friday, lies the information about my card...they have it, I don't. I was told it was worthless when it wasn't. It's sort of "legalized theft" by explanation of "Oops! I made a boo-boo." CS must have told me 25 times how sorry they are and how much they apologize, but not once did they offer to send me a card for the $11.65 they, in effect, took from me! That's all I want...an $11.65 Amex gift card. As a business person, I might even continue to consider Amex gift cards I'd thought of doling out. Without it, I most certainly won't! How could I give the gift of victimization to someone?! I cannot provide card #'s due to Amex's misinformation, so my money becomes Amex's. What kind of business environment do we have; what kind of human beings are making and dishing out policy within businesses? Sad thought, no?

I have had my amex green card for 2 years and delta skymiles amex for 6 months. I have always paid my balances in

time with out any latepayments in last two years.

AS i went for my marraige in india. i bought necklace worth 4500 dollars. they suspended my account and they want

to verify my information with in 5 days. As i was busy in the marraige, i could not contact them in time and they

cancelled my account. I tried to reach them with in 5days and i was kept on hold for 35 mintues and later they

gave me another number. when i try to reach that number, i was transfered and transfered and i could not contact

them in time. i contacted customer service to reinstate the amount for 10 times. now they want me to pay the

amount in two weeks. i am completely broke as they have cancelled the creditcards.

I waited for 30 minutes (timed it on my cell) until a person reading from a script (obviously not in the US), with

a very heavy accent, told me that because I had something unfavorable in my credit report, my card had been

canceled.

The rep told me he didn't know, but that if I wanted my card "re-instated"

I told him that was perfectly ridiculous and asked to speak to a supervisor. The rep cut me off.

I called back again, and then, after telling the same story to another rep, she said she would transfer me to a

supervisor.

At first I was mad. Then I felt hurt. I have used this card ethically for 2 years, and always paid my bills. My

credit score is very good, it is 724.

My sense is that AMEX will be doing this to hundreds of us Americans over the coming months, and as they lay-off

thousands of employees, those trying to communicate with them will be waiting for hours on the phone, and never be

able to resolve problems.

I, like many Americans, needed my credit card for making reservations for business travel, shopping at Costco, and

purchasing business supplies because of this sudden credit card suspension, i was not able to book the ticket and

i lost my job.

We are going to see greater repercussions; other businesses rely on us using our credit cards online, and during

holidays. It will be interesting to see what happens to this "house of interconnected cards" as the months roll

on.

We taxpayers may have bailed out the banks, but the banks are holding us up with threats of cancellations, higher

fees, and trumped up charges.

Beware of American Express. I look forward to a class action suit against them!

Refused to make a change in reservation
I made a reservation for a hotel in London using American Express Travel. The payment was in the form of cash and American Express points. Because of the volcanic eruption in Iceland, I tried to change the reservation. The hotel chain, Holiday Inn, would have readily made the change; however, the reservation was owned by American Express so they REFUSED to make the change. American Express expected me to pay the full fee of $2, 892.71 to change the reservation. A ripoff by American Express and a ripoff by Holiday Inn if they are unwilling to make the change.

I have had an American Express Card since 1976. In that time the service has been reasonable. This event has raised a "red flag" about a possible deterioration of service at American Express.
