Empoyee/Company behavior
The rudest people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They are a completly rude, unforthcoming and untrustworthy company. I will not go into personal details. Let's just say stay away from any kind of dealings with this companhy

loan
I wouldn't recomend this company to anyone. I was looking to get a loan for $500.00 - $1000.00 and this company wanted collateral. On a loan of that size come on. I told the lady I could pay it back with next paycheck just needed money for emergency car repair. Not a good company.

Ripoff
I have been on unemployment for six months through no fault of my own. I was recently late with one car payment and am currently 2 weeks late with another payment. I explained that with not knowing if I'll have a job or any more unemployment I couldn't say for sure when I could pay this payment. So today I got a letter saying they were coming to repossess my car. I didn't think 2 weeks late would constitute repo but I know it's there legal right. Just a note to never deal with American General again. I'd rather do buy here pay here.

Bad business
My husband took out a loan and I had the sign with him we stated no credit life, but the person put it there any way for a period of 60 months. My husband die the payment for the loan did not change and they stated the credit life is no good so I'am still paying the loan and the credit life too.

Telephione Messages
Each business day for the last 4-5 weeks, I have received a recoded message from American General Finance. The message states they are trying to get in touch with their customer. I am not their customer.
I call the Corp Office on 8 Feb @ 1800- 599-2335 and spoke with a Mr Wilson.
I informed him that the I was being harassed by the computer. Each day the machine calls my home, just as I am the busiest and leaves a message. I asked him to remove my phone number from the list or I would file a complaint his firm for harassment.
On 9 Feb, the computer called again.
I called the 800 number and explained what was going on. The lady on the other end hung-up on me after stating she could not remove my phone number.
I called again...explained my situation and this person gave me the same run around.
It appears the Nice Folks in the Call Center don't know bout me.
Next I called my local American General Office in Killeen, TX and saked if they could remove my number?
This person was insistant on getting my Name and address. I informed her 4 times, the machine doesn't know my address. It is calling because someone entered my phone number into your Data Base.
Even thou, my number is on the NAtional DO NOT CALL LIST. She asked me why I was yelling at her,
because you must be hard of hearing Or just plain stupid. Here is my number 254-213-1265. Please insure it is removed from your calling list, today. I will file a complaint with the FCC and the BBB. Plus, I may call your office at very busy times to inquire about the status of my comp-laint.

credit bureau reporting
In 2008, American General bought my account for over $ 45, 000/15 years from another financial institution. Immediately, I noticed a significant decreasement of my credit score due to the fact that it was reported as a new loan and mainly because they report not the loan balance, which is approx. $41, 000 as of today, but the balance with ALL of the interest added for the remaining of 13 years!!! which throws me to an astronomic $92, 000. Since this happened, I was not able to make other loans. None of the other financial institutions I used to work with has such a practice. AG tries its best to make sure I will not be able to refinance this loan.
I would like to know if anybody was in similar situations and especially, how you got out of it??!!! as I read the FCRA and I could not fing any significant detail to my problem.

Scam and cheating
This whole transaction involving Hot Tubs was a disaster from the very start of the loan. It all began when I discovered that I had 3rd party parts put into NEW hot tubs. They were sold as NEW when in fact they were USED! I was burnt. But I didn't mind as long as Cal Spas honored the 5 year warranties. However, they don't honor the warranties and American General doesn't care. I even offered to give them the tubs back two years ago but they said they would and put a charge off on my credit report. Well today is here and I really don't care if they put a charge off on my credit report. I don't think I should be responsible for anything. However if they want to write down the loans for USED hot tubs and eliminate all Late fees on payments and any other junk fees then I am willing to work with them. I also want all negative reporting on my credit report removed. If they are willing to modify the loans and write them down because I have no warranties then I am willing to pay back a portion. Erin the branch Manager and Sean a low level collection employee that probably makes 9.00 hr is a crook and they both deserve to be fired. She is rude and the worst customer service person I have ever met. American General has been great to me and again if they are willing to help then I am willing to participate. I need your help please with American General. These guys are crooks!

Removal of funds without authorization!
I made an application for Term Life Insurance and after a very long period I was denied. I received a letter from the company telling my application had been denied on February 1st and on February 6th $616.00 was withdrawn from my checking account. Because of the withdrawn I incurred $272.00 in insufficient fund fees. I was supposed to have a policy in hand and be able to accept or refuse it based on my satisfaction with the coverage and the premium. I had never receive a policy because it had been denied.
After several calls to the so called agent, which were never returned, customer service told me that the policy number they attached to my name which prompted the withdrawal was in no way mine. The type of incompetency has created a hardship that was not necessary, I had to produce my bank statement to verify the overdraft charges in addition transfer funds from my saving to stop anymore from occurring.
Now they tell me it will be six days before and can get my $616.00 back and have no idea when or if I will be compensated for the $272.00 in overdraft fees.
