Customer Service
For a large, well-known brand, American Greetings has one of the worst customer service programs that I have encountered. When my credit card number was stolen recently, I tried to call the AG Help # several times with no success. I also tried to contact American Greetings on-line. After all else failed, I tried to cancel my membership on-line and was told that this option was unavailable. My experience with American Greetings illustrated that:
. if you are a customer with a complaint or require help with an issue that falls outside of AG's standard or taped set of customer concerns, your concern will not and cannot be addressed;
. on top of the difficulties with your card, you will receive a relentless barrage of e-mails that you cannot respond to and when you try to will find yourself in an surreal loop of webpages and telephone commands;
. AG lacks capacity and willingness to deal with its customers on a personal basis.
This is particularly pitiful in a company whose business is founded on the concept of greetings...and keeping in touch. AG is not alone in thinking that on-line efficiency makes for better customer service (and better ROI). In some cases, it does. In others, it is a dismal failure. I will never do business with this company again and I will post reviews for others. Buyer beware...this is a on-line product with good front end website with very poor back-end service.

American Greetings E-Card Ripoff
American Greetings Online E-Cards - I am a paid customer at $20 per year. Service is way overpriced. Worst investment I ever made; you are better off sending free cards. Principal problems: After you create a card, the cards will not send; if you finally manage to get them sent, they cannot be played by recipient. In addition, selection of cards is extremely poor -- juvenile, limited. I thought it would be an improvement over Hallmark e-cards, but it was not. This problem has been going on ever since I joined in December 2010. There is no way to complain to the company. Do not sign up for American Greetings Online E-Cards; it's a rip-off.

Unauthorized charges
I signed up for a trial membership in 2005 for yahoo ecards. Every year since I have automatically been charged for renewal. I am not able to take my credit card information off their site or cancel my membership. This year I decided I wasn't going to pay for another year - it's only $15 but the point is I don't want it and I dont' want my credit card information stored on their website - it's my right to not have it stored there which is the main basis of my complaint. Since I could not do this via online I had to call and then I had to wait at least 30 minutes for someone to answer and then they had trouble finding my account because it was under an alternative email address - even though the one I gave them is the one I need to sign in to the account. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY AN AMERICAN GREETING PRODUCT AGAIN AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE NOT TO FALL FOR THEIR "TRIAL MEMBERSHIP" SCAM. A company should not be permitted to keep someone's credit card information on file - especially with all the problems lately with accounts being compromised.

Scam
These people are total scammers. I signed up for a 30-day free trial. They charged my account $29.98 after 15 days. I called their customer service and after a dozen attempts I was able to actually speak to someone. I requested a refund and a cancellation. The representative agreed and gave me a confirmation number. 15 days later, no refund. I called back and after a dozen more attempts, I finally talked to a representative. I explained my circumstance and the representative claimed to have no record of a previous phone call or cancellation request. In addition, they claimed my membership trail was only for 14 days. They refused to refund my money. This business is very unethical. Beware.

Trap For The Unwary
Complete scam. You sign up for a "free trial period, " and they hope you forget about it, and after a few weeks they charge your credit card (without further notice) for a full year. Once you've been charged, there is absolutely no way to get a refund. You dial the number they give you, and you get an automated system with an endless round of voicemail "options" that go in circles, apparently forever, with absolutely no way to break out or talk to a real person. It's a nightmare and it's clearly been designed as a trap for the unwary.

Overcharged
This company has obviously done their research. They know that most consumers will not be able to reach them while their 'trial membership' is in effect in order to cancel it. They make it almost impossible to reach them in fact with a very frustrating automated phone system with no obvious menu item for talking to a human. I'm sure that there is one there but I couldn't find it until I tried technical support. Once you miss canceling your trial membership (and most will no doubt) they will bill you $15.99 for a full year membership which you don't want. If you're lucky enough to notice this on your credit card statement as I was - good luck getting anyone on the phone to complain! There are multiple instances of disclaimers saying that there are no refunds once this billing has taken place - it's just your tough luck. The sad thing is that I actually thought that I had canceled this during the free trial.
This company is clearly taking advantage of people with the type of billing that has been all but banned amongst cable and phone companies who used to try to do this - offering a service for free as a hook and then forcing the consumer to jump through hoops to stop this service from becoming a cyclical automated billing nightmare.
DEFINITELY AVOID THIS COMPANY. Buy real cards!
