American Laser Center Reviews

dirty office
I went in for a treatment, and there was a roach on the floor. the clinic is so dirty, hair is always on the floors in each treatment room. Managers Jenna and Mirielle don't care about anything but selling treatments that don't work. Mirielle is so unprofessional, she is on the phone with a personal call, but is so loud you feel like your in the conversation. She is always out of uniform. I do not recomend going there. the board of health should visit and shut the place down.

scam
Most definitely the worst experience, painful and unprofessional...
after 10/12 sessions every 8 weeks for nearly 2 yrs only resulted in about 25% hair reduction.
every times with a different staff and 3 differents office manager, i tried to be brave, take the pain and make my money worth but i give up on my 2300$ and won't go back there, they should be closed down.
they lie and don't listen to any complain ...and there is no refund!!! nice scam!!!

Hair removal and Vella Shape: DON'T WORK
I've had laser hair removal for legs and underarms, both with inadequate results despite 2 years of treatment. I also had Vella shape and gained both inches and weight American Laser Centers spends most of their energy and time trying to upsell for additional services. I was incredulous that they were trying to sell me additional packages while the existing services were not working. Moreover, they have a draconian cancellation process though they cancelled two appointments w/o acknowleding the double-standard. I highly recommend that anyone looking for laser hair removal go elsewhere!

liars
In November of 2006 I visited an American Laser Center, I wanted to find out what type of laser they use. The sales manager told me that they use the same laser all the other doctors and top spas use. I asked her if it was a light impulse or a real laser. She said it was a real laser and that it had waves that could remove all types of hair on all skin types. I was hesitant but she said don't worry this laser works on 99% of the people, if after three treatments you don't see results we will refund the money. She convinced me to buy a pre package deal 5, 400.00. I shaved everything thinking I'd be hair free including the blonde hair and peach fuzz. I knew laser hair removal worked because I had friends who had results. I Never thought I had to research the company because she said it was a big and successful one. I felt safe knowing that. However, that couldn't be farther from the truth.
The laser treatments didn't ever work. Half of the time it was completely broken., When it did work I would say "should I be feeling something?" The reply would be "It's working, just a new type of laser that doesn't hurt."
Once I realized that I wasn't getting results, I decided I wanted my refund. All the tech's agreed I deserved my money back. Every last one of them saw I was not responding. At the time the manager said"ALC has to see that you tried everything to get results." I did everything they said, and after two years the wellington office closed down. I had to go to a farther location.
Well, after three years of excuses and double passes, new software, new machines (that hurt like hell because the cooler was broken), real techs, real lasers and me constantly asking for a refund. I got feed up. So I confronted the clinic manager. My tech was already writing up a record of my treatments and responses. I should have never went to this manager, she stalled until it was too late. "They just stopped giving refunds, sorry." she said
To say that the manager at this office was condescending is a compliment. She spoke to me like I was the one that was wrong. She read all the letters I wrote to corporate HQ. She booked me on the wrong machines and did sneaky things. Acting like I was a small child, talking down to me. Then left me a voice mail saying she did all she could to help me, why would I insult her. WHY? She did everything she could to make my life a living hell.
Even though, I asked for this refund in 2006, in January of 2009 they began to be more strict on their refunds. So, it didn't matter that every tech promised me "no worries." The new manager made sure to drag it out so I couldn't get my refund. The techs all felt horrible for me because they knew how bad I wanted it to work . The time and pain I endured for it was no fun, I am now minus the 6000.00.
I am so embarrassed, how could I fall for such a scam? I paid 6000.00 to be humiliated and abused. All I am left with is more of a problem then before (scars and darker hair).
To top it off, the RM wants me to grow out all the hair (because she can't trust the word of her techs) After that there is no promise I will get my refund. Only three more treatments to see if the hair thins or causes patches. Um, are you a hair removal or hair reduction? Let your customers know.
How can I grow out my hair? I am married, I see people everyday. So now I can't get help from anyone cause I am too embarrassed to make this public.
I think I've been through enough. Embarrassing photos, techs that made comments and burned me. Not to mention the lies.
I never wanted my money back. I just wanted the hair removed like I was promised. She tells me you signed a contract. Yes, I did but it was under false pretenses.
Now, I just want to correct the damage that was done. So now they offer microderm abrasion for that? No thanks, do you blame me? I don't want another painful laser or anything from this company. It's so sad, really! Praying on people with low self esteems. Shame on you ALC.

No hair removal
OMG! After 3 yrs (includes my 2yr Guarantee) I have not see ANY results! I have had nothing but trouble with this company since I started. Appointment times, they have a hard time finding an appointment that works for me. I was turned away because they ran out of ice packs and had to reschedule. They lost my file and had to start an new. They did laser treatment on me in the beginning and the settings were very low. I didn't know, I never had this before. In early 2009 they got new software and it is stronger, it would do the trick, yeah right! I got the run around; "you need a double pass, you need at least 10 treatments, you need at least 18 treatments, you have light hair, facial hair takes longer to go way, you have 2 yrs- we will get it all". I just kept getting the run around. I paid for my lip and chin to be done...still no difference after 3yrs. This place is a joke, I was told "yes, we will get all your hair". I hate this, I am going to make so much noise...I know they won't call me back, but we need to get the word out there...THEY SUCK AS A COMPANY AND JUST TAKE PEOPLES MONEY. This has to stop!!!

Poor Results
A big investment for such little results. I've been going since 2006. Only treatments I've missed was when the laser was broke or a tech called in. So, you think about how many treatments I've had.
Yes, it hurts like being popped repeatedly with a rubber band.
Yes, I get a rash that lasts about 24 hours (like major razor burn)
Yes, I shave the day before for better results and less complications.
Yes, I stay off the caffine so I can maximize the setting.
Have I complained, ha even to the district manager.
So, on my lower legs about 85% reduction. Upper legs about 35% reduction. Face, under arms, and bikini maybe 50%
Most importantly, after all this, I'm still shaving! You can't say this is from a lack of effort o my part.
I'm attaching a photo of my progress after 2 years of treatment.

Scam
I started treatment for hair removal on my arms in 2005 with a PROMISE that all of the hair would be removed or I would be refunded the $1, 400 that I paid up front after two years but, not to worry, that would never be the case. Initially I felt very little pain but over the months I actually had an INCREASE in hair. When I expressed my concerns I was told that that can happen if the laser is set too low so the intensity was increased and I was BURNED on 2 separate occasions leaving scars. On other occasions I would be left with stinging red spots for days in some areas while most others seemed untouched. Some times the technician would rush through the process in 20 minutes and other times I was there for over an hour. No consistency and always a new face. Because of my dissatisfaction they extended my treatments in the same lame way (but they were nice about it so I didn't want to make waves) and now in 2009, after going religiously for four years and getting about a 30% hair reduction result, I was sent a 'Dear Valued Client' letter telling me that my time was up and if I wanted to continue with treatment I would have to pay up. After tracking down the customer service number (since the number that I was sent in the 'Dear valued Client' letter was bogus) I was told by "Amber (she wouldn't give me her last name and said that she is the only Amber at ext.272) that "I am sorry for your inconvenience, but there is nothing further that I can do". She is very aware of the lawsuits against the company, by the way, and delivers her lines like a trained parrot ( I'm guessing that the phrase, "I'm sorry for your inconvenience, but there is nothing further that I can do" is a full time job for her but hopefully she is able to turn it off before she gets into bed with her significant other.)
In short, Don't Go To American Laser Centers! There are plenty of other laser places that know what they are doing. Also, don't just sit back and get ripped off, do something about it.

hair removal and photo facial
I have been getting laser hair removal treatments since Nov 2006. Two and a half year later the hair growth is worse than ever, I have to shave twice a day. Now I am informed by them that my treatments have expired.
I showed frustration at every teatment and was told by the technician that treatment would continue untill it worked. Obviously it is not going to work.
The same goes for the foto facial I paid for. I was told it would make a scar go away. That was the selling point. I still have the scar and no results.
We should be able to do an law suit against these people. I don't care how long it takes, they are ripping people off and need to be stopped.
I can be contacted at [email protected]

An attorney needs to be contacted... I hope to print out all the complaints and report them to the better business bourough for starters.I have requested copies of my records and we will see if they give them to me,

Fraud
On June 27th 2009 I went in for a free consultation after "winning" a $400.00 credit towards services. I met with the manager and was told that in order to do all the hair removal I was wanting the credit would not cover it and that I should fill out an application for credit. I did so and was denied and we worked out a payment option. I was reviewing my credit report on July 7th and was shocked to see that the day that I was in the clinic showed on my credit report as having applied for credit at a online specialty clothing store. I contacted the clothing company and they told me that the application for credit was denied. I immediately called the laser clinic and was told that "her girls would not do something like this and that they could not just walk around with my info and open accounts without my ID. I called back and told her it was done online the manager went onto the site and said "these aren't even cute clothes" and laughed. She said that she does not know if it was her staff or the cleaning crew but that she did not "see " that website on her computer history at her office so it must not be real and MUST be a mistake. I told her that they could have written my information down and used a computer at home and she still argued that her girls would not do things like that. It was very upsetting to have no concern for me and my info. I told the manager that I would be coming by to get my information and she told me that she shredded it. Then told me that it is weird. That is all I got.

Liers, scammers, dishonest
I do not even know where to begin, but that I made the biggest mistake of my life giving American Laser Center my money. Erika Barry, the office manager at the Okemos location is a horrible person to do business with. She lies, is extremely pushy, has a nasty personality, and does not care about her clients/patients/customers. This company's main priority is to make money and get customers in and out the door. They do not care about their patient's well being or health. They would rather put a customer at risk for permanent skin problems, so long as they get what they want. Money. They will claim that their employees are trained and certified and that they went through an extended training program lasting months. This is NOT true. If you have done any research, you will find numerous reviews from ex-employees stating that the training lasted only 2 DAYS and that they had no idea what they were doing. The technicians are told to push the sale further and skip areas to make the process faster. This company deserves to be shut down for good, and with the class action lawsuit against them, it's looking pretty good.

The company says you will have complete hair loss in the treated areas, and that it will NEVER grow back. They guarantee that you will be satisfied with the results, and you have TWO WHOLE YEARS after your final treatment to get any touch ups that are necessary. My question is- if this TRUELY lasts a lifetime, wouldn't you think their guarantee would be for life then?! If they could tell the patients that it lasted for life, they would get SO MANY MORE customers. Obviously it doesn't if they can only guarantee it for two years. Not only that, but rarely do people even see results before their two years are up!!!

Who in their right mind would pay thousands of dollars, to go through painful laser treatments for THREE years risking their skin and who knows what else for no hair loss, burns, blisters, and skin discoloration.

I was given misinformation, inconsistent information and I was lied to regarding various different aspects of the treatment. I went for one treatment and refused to go any longer. I started out that I was angry because they had all my money and I had read all the horrible reviews about the treatment not working AT ALL, and then when I started hearing about permanent scarring, blistering, skin discoloration etc. I started becoming concerned for what the treatment might do to me!

If you also have been ripped off by this company, please do not give up. Bug them EVERY SINGLE DAY until you see a refund. Get what you deserve. Also, there is a class action lawsuit. Please join the lawsuit at this website http://www.americanlasercentersclassaction.com/
