Fraud, possible class action lawsuit
My wife, her mother, and her two sisters all signed up for laser hair removal packages at $1281.00 a piece. It came with a 2 year warranty so they felt comfortable in paying the money. After six treatments there was no noticeable hair removal and they asked for their money back. The clinic manager gave them the runaround for months. When one manager was fired and another brought in, the standard statement of "Well, I don't know what they told you but I am here now" was given to all complaints and refund requests. At one point my wife had them take pictures and send to the owner (Dr. Neel Kanase). When he got the photos he scheduled a meeting with my wife at which time he told her there were any number of reasons why the treatments were not working. They can pick ANY reason under the sun for why it isn't working, but they still wouldn't give her the money back. He said she needed to see her doctor and have blood tests done to verify none of these problems were present, so she did. All tests were negative. Fast forward a year and I (her husband) contacted Dr. Kanase personally and threatened him with an immediate lawsuit if she was not given a refund. He agreed to refund her the money, minus 10% for an "administrative fee", for which I refused. He did agree to give her a full refund, which he followed through with.<br />
<br />
Her mother and two sisters however were convinced by Leah Blevins to continue the treatments for another year because, as she said in the meeting, "the settings were incorrect and I will be personally training the employees on the proper use of the machines." She promised them to extend the warranty out another year for the "new" treatments to work. They attended every single scheduled treatment. About a month or so ago (May/June 2009) my mother-n-law went for a scheduled treatment and was told that she would have to sign a new contract (which meant paying more money) or else she would not receive any further treatments. She did not sign a new contract and left without the treatment, which is a breach of contract by American Laser Center. Anyhow, fast forward 11 months (right before the year warranty is up) and on July 7th, 2009 she and I meet with Dr. Kanase at the Albuquerque clinic where he proceeds to not talk about the lack of hair removed, but rather how he was "hurt and lost sleep because defaming comments I made about him on the internet." When asked about the refund he stated that the industry standard 30-50% of hair removal, first time anyone had EVER heard that number. During their sales speech it was always total hair removal according to my wife, her mother, and two sisters. He stated that he would say that 70% of the hair was not removed, and since 50% was standard, he would divide the 70% by the 50% and give them a refund of 35%. They get to keep 65% of their money for NOT doing what they promised? I then asked if other clients were told of this 30-50% number when signing contracts and he stated firmly "Yes, we tell EVERYONE this." I then asked if he would mind if I asked the people in the waiting area if they were told of this number and he got VERY upset and absolutely refused, and I didn't push it any further.<br />
<br />
Dr. Kanase then threatened to sue me personally for defamation of character lawsuit which his lawyers (Benjamin Silva in Albuquerque) were ready to move forward with, and that "those types of lawsuits get into the millions of dollars." He was obviously trying to scare me from talking to anyone else about their problems with ALC, and as you can see it did not. Trying to intimidate a potential witness is a federal crime, perhaps his lawyers neglected to mention that little fact to Dr. Kanase. I placed a call to Mr. Silva which was not returned as of yet to subpoena the proof of my slanderous comments about Dr. Kanase.<br />
<br />
We are currently looking into a class-action lawsuit against Dr. Kanase and his American Laser Centers in Albuquerque, NM, Tulsa, OK, Amarillo, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, El Paso, TX, Lubbock, TX, and Midland, TX offices. If you would like to be included in this lawsuit, please email me and I would be happy to discuss your situation further.<br />

useless service & waste of money
I have been going to ALC for treatement since 2006 and i had more than 15 treatments done with barely any result, 10% the most. I spent about $3, 000 (which i am still paying for it) that i didn't have and waste of my time for these treatments. My warranty is over this october, so i dont know what am i going to do, with no result and $3, 000 out of my pocket for nothing. My friend is getting treatments somewhere else and after 5 treatments she is seeing good result.
I have been burned once with big blisters and when I told them they tried to blame it on me. After 2yrs of treatment they told me that they have been using the wrong machine on me, so there is 2yrs waste of my time and money. I have tried contacting the main office and got no result, i can never get anyone on the phone, its always v.m. I am very unsatisfied, i think we all paid good money for the services/ result that we were supposed to get and didn't. We shouldn't let them ripp off other poor people. If i knew about all these complaints before i would have never used their services. I am very interested in the class action law suit, please let me know how i can help.

Laser hair removal
I too have dealt with this company. I was burnt so many times that my skin would just fall off. After several treatments I was told that this procedure doesn’t work on dark skin people, it tends to burn them. Their treatment has left me scared for life. I asked them for a full refund plus the cost of repairing their damage, but ALC did not meet my refund needs. I too was given the run a round for many years. Their service just does not produce the results they promise. They are unprofessional and deceitful. The most incompetent business I have ever come across. They promise what they can not deliver. They are extremely great at sugar coating words initially just so that they can abuse you and your money.
If there is a class action law suit I too would like to join it.

Misleading
American Laser Centers speak highly of having the "most comprehensive guarantee in the industry". However it is very misleading. It is not a "money-back" guarantee.
After 5 years and $1000.00 worth of treatment, with minimal to no results, and several occasions where I have expressed the lack of effectiveness of the treatments to the clinic manager, corporate has informed me that there never was a guarantee of receiving any type of refund. Having called customer service, they told me that they intended their "comprehensive guarantee" to mean that they guarantee servicing the client for 6 treatments and up to 2 years after the 6th treatment, regardless if the initial treatment package was effective in the first place. Which for me never was or has been even with the 2-year follow-up.
They explained that their guarantee does not imply guaranteeing any results or treatment effectiveness as that can vary from person to person, even if no permanent hair loss occurs.
For those with no, minimal or patchy hair loss results, a maintenance package of $100/treatment is the only option, (with no guarantee of success, but only a guarantee of service that the treatment will be given.)
If you choose to use ALC just be sure to understand that they don't really guarantee their results. And there is no recourse if treatment fails. They will attribute ineffectiveness to many factors and will talk about changing laser settings or the new technology/lasers they just received and how that will certainly make the difference with the next round of treatments.

Constant unpleasent experience
I've been going to American Laser Centers in King of Prussia, PA for over 2.5 year for hair removal services. Although most of the staff is nice, I feel that they are not trained properly for laser techniques. The turn over of employees is so vast that everytime I go, I have a new person working on me (in 2.5 years for every 6 weeks - i've never had the same person!) They all have different ways of performing the same task which is probably why after 2.5 years I'm not satisfied with my results. For the first year I was going, they constantly would call the day before or the morning of my appointment and reschedule, however when I missed one appointment (my fault) i was charged a "newly adjusted" missed appoinment fee of $75!!! They would not schedule me for another appointment until I paid the fee... I was furious! I know they typically get their leads from their "Win Free Hair Removal Contest" however, if you read the fine print (at least in the past) everyone wins at least $300 off, hence, they just use that as a way of getting leads. I own a business and I treat all of my customers like they are priority and number one, so after spending over $2500 on services and in this economy, I expect to be treated like a priority. If you are looking for laser services, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere because you'll end up paying much more for poor results and lack of customer care by the corporate American Laser Centers business (or possibly franchise owner).

Poor service/customer service
What can I say about American Laser Centers…nothing good is for sure!
I inquired about Velashape in November 2008, as I have loose skin in my abdomen area and buttocks/thigh areas that I would like to tighten (three kids will do that!)… I went to my Chandler, AZ ALC and after negotiating the price (thank goodness!) ended up walking out of the office paying $2500 for six Velashape sessions. She was SO generous…she threw in five microderm abrasion treatments if I signed up that day.
My first Velashap session was okay…the tech put little pressure on the areas treated and she continued my first three treatments the same way. I noticed no change at all. My third treatment was also cancelled by this office 10 minutes before the appointment because, they said, “our machine is not working properly.” I told them no worries…I didn’t have a problem with rescheduling. When they rescheduled my fourth through sixth treatments they put me with a new technician. I will admit she was 100 times better than the first tech…still very little if any change in my skin elasticity. I finished all six treatments and during the last treatment they tried to get me to sign up for more services stating “you know we told you the Velashape truly isn’t as effective unless you get the skin tightening at the same time.” I told them I would pass right now…I just wanted to finish my micodermabrasion treatments first and see how it goes. My first face treatment was killer…the MANAGER of the center performed the treatment and did it so hard that my face was red for two days. I decided to go for my second treatment a month later and the day of my appointment I had a medical emergency and called first thing in the morning to reschedule (no one answered so I left a message). I received a call an hour later stating that if I didn’t show up that night for my treatment, they were going to charge me $75 and would not receive any further treatments until I paid it. Okay, first off…look at my message above. They cancelled my appointment 10 MINUTES before it was supposed to happen and I DIDN’T charge them $75. AND…their services were VERY inadequate. But, like anyone that pays money for something…you don’t wasnt to lose anything and you endure. To anyone looking to sign up with American Laser Centers…my advice is to think not only twice, but 100 times before you pay a dime to them. They will be nice until you pay…then they do not provide the services they promise!

Fraud and Unprofessional Conduct
I signed up for 12 micro-derm abrasion treatments for total of $700. I received 2 treatments without any of the promised results. The company rescheduled my third appointment for another date. Then they canceled that appoint a second and third time. I was not happy so I advised them I was not coming back because their service was poor. However, they refused to refund the unused portion of my money and refused to answer any of my phone calls. They are the most unscrupulous, low-down bastards I have ever seen. They are no better that the guy who invades your home and robs you at gunpoint. Steer clear of these crooks and make sure you get the word out. Let's close them down.

Complete Rip Off/SCAM BEWARE
This company is a complete scam! Tbe services are over priced, the staff is rude, and the customer service is TERRIBLE. I signed up for services, because I was told that I had to make the purchase on the spot to get the "discounted rate". Unfortunately, I found out that the discounted rate was actually the regular price and that this company has a reputation all over the United States for being a rip off artists. I have been waiting for my $1000 refund since November 2008. I was told I would receive it immediately. Then I was told it would take 16 weeks. Now we are well beyond 16 weeks and I still have not received my money. I have repeatedly called the corporate office, however, the staff is rude and they refuse to return any of your telephone calls. Since November, I have left 112 messages and not one person affiliated with American Laser Center has called me back. I have even contacted the corporate attorney "Rhythm Manani" ext. 273 and still have not gotten a response. I would recommend that anyone considering doing business with these crooks reconsider.

Doesn't work
I saw no results after paying for 6 treatments of laser hair removal for my lip. They do not offer refunds and are quite rude about you questioning them. In the time I was receiving my treatments there were 3 different managers running the Mt. Pleasant store and I saw several different technicians. They have a very high turnover, probably because they get sick of hearing complaints all the time.
Do not waste your time or money. I honestly do not think one hair came out!

Horrible refund exprience
After several attempts to make an appointment and unable to get a hold of a person or get calls back, I requested a refund. It took two letters to the direct American Laser Centers (those were ignored), a complaint to the BBB, and a complaint to the national customer service before a letter was issued through the BBB stating they would refund my money (with a 10% loss). After another month of waiting for this to happen I again had to contact customer service who then took my credit card information for the refund. After waiting 10 days for this to go through on my card I called again and was informed it would take 12 weeks for the refund to go through. At the end of the 12 weeks it will now be an entire year since I first purchased the package. I have lost $100 in my 10% fee for refund as well as a years worth of interest on my credit card. Please do not utilize this company. When I had my first consult I mentioned some sun spots I wanted removed on my face. Without further examination the women attempted to sell me a $3000 laser package. After having the same issue evaluated at another treatment center a $300 facial care package was recommended and it worked wonders. First, it would appear that they do not have qualified trained professionals doing assessments, and second it would appear that they will attempt to place you in whatever expensive treatment they have. I would not trust any assessments they made.
